Exclusive: Dexter: Resurrection is continues to delight on Paramount+ with Showtime.

The premiere episode has now tallied 4.4M cross-platform viewers in its first seven days, up 41% from the first three days, when about 3.1M had checked out the latest outing in the growing franchise, Deadline can exclusively reveal.

That sets another streaming record for Showtime, once again upping the threshold for the network’s most-streamed series premiere in history. Dexter: Resurrection is also outperforming the premiere of Dexter: Original Sin by about 25% so far.

From showrunner and executive producer Clyde Phillips, Dexter: Resurrection stars Michael C. Hall back in the titular role of Dexter Morgan. More than a decade after Dexter first carved out its place in pop culture, the iconic serial killer has once again returned to dominate the small screen, and the numbers don’t lie. Dexter: Resurrection, the latest installment in the long-running franchise, has slashed its way to a record-breaking debut, proving that this blood-stained saga still has plenty of life left in it.

Dexter: Resurrection premiered its first two episodes on Paramount+ with Showtime on July 11, before making its cable debut on Showtime that Sunday night. According to Deadline, the crime drama managed to pull in 3.1 million global viewers across platforms over the weekend of its release. That's a 46% increase over the debut of Dexter: Original Sin.

Catching the Dark Passenger

While Dexter originally arrived in New York City to watch over and even aide Harrison, they’ve yet to make contact. Dexter is sparked to action not only by his calling, but his frustration that a killer has snatched his name.

That led to him taking a job as a ride share driver.

The Dexter: Resurrection premiere drew 3.1 million global cross-platform viewers in its first three days, representing a 46% larger audience than what the Dexter: Original Sin prequel series opened to last December.

The return of grown-up Dexter also delivered the most-streamed premiere in Showtime history, putting up 44% bigger numbers than Original Sin, and marking a 76% improvement on Dexter: New Blood (circa November 2021).

A continuation of New Blood, Resurrection takes place weeks after Dexter Morgan (played by Hall) takes a bullet to the chest from his own son, as he awakens from a coma to find Harrison (Alcott) gone without a trace. Realizing the weight of what he put his son through, Dexter sets out for New York City determined to find him and make things right.

Closure, though, won’t come easy. “When Miami Metro’s Angel Batista (David Zayas) arrives with questions, Dexter realizes his past is catching up to him fast,” the series synopsis reads. “As father and son navigate their own darkness in the city that never sleeps, they soon find themselves deeper than they ever imagined – and that the only way out is together.”

Television’s favorite serial killer returned to the small screen yet again on Friday with the premiere of Dexter: Resurrection, which came out of the gate swinging with a promising audience tally over the weekend.

The premiere episode scored Dexter: Resurrection 3.1M cross-platform global viewers, up 46% from the debut of Dexter: Original Sin, per Showtime parent company Paramount Global. Two episodes were released on Paramount+ Friday before their cable premiere on Sunday. One new episode will release weekly following that same format.

On Paramount+ alone, Dexter: Resurrection is now the most-streamed premiere in Showtime history, the company says. The streaming audience is up 44% from Dexter: Original Sin and 79% from Dexter: New Blood, per Paramount Global. Specific numbers were not released.

Speaking of the other Dexter offerings, since the premiere of Dexter: Resurrection, franchise consumption is apparently up +132% on Paramount+.

MGM+ has just debuted the second sequel series, Dexter: Resurrection. The series takes place merely weeks after the previous sequel series, Dexter: New Blood, and tackles the events after Dexter's son Harrison left his father for dead. After debuting with a perfect score, Dexter: Resurrection didn't need much to enter the charts immediately after its premiere, FlixPatrol reports.

Dexter: Resurrection debuted on Friday, Jul. 11, and it immediately entered the charts the same day. It debuted in seventh place in the U.S., and has already entered the charts in different territories, taking over the sixth spot in Paramount+'s Top 10 global charts.

The latest installation of the “Dexter” universe follows Dexter Morgan, reprised by the original actor Michael C. Hall, who has essentially come back to life after being shot in the chest by his son Harrison and announced dead. That is until Hall decided he was ready to come back for more.

Showtime’s Dexter enjoyed several rich seasons before bleeding out slowly in a final run that crawled toward an unsatisfying conclusion. Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) was dredged up, eight years later, for Dexter: New Blood, which traded bloody beachside fun for a grim, cold adventure without much of a pulse. Despite the fact that New Blood’s finale saw him shot at close range with a hunting rifle right in the chest, Dexter just won’t die.

The 54-year-old Golden Globe winner joined co-stars Uma Thurman and Peter Dinklage on the red carpet at the world premiere of Dexter: Resurrection on Wednesday evening (July 9) held at Alice Tully Hall in New York City.

Dexter's series finale was widely considered a disappointment, and while Dexter: New Blood set out to make things right in 2021, it too proved a little hit-and-miss.

Fans didn't want to see Dexter Morgan die, and plans for a follow-up revolving around his son, Harrison (with Dexter likely taking on a role similar to Harry's in the original show), were scrapped. After last year's prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin, Dex rises from the dead in Dexter: Resurrection.

The first trailer has been released (via FearHQ.com), and we see Batista questioning Dexter about being the Bay Harbor Butcher. The serial killer escapes and heads to New York, where Harrison also now resides. As Batista attempts to help steer him away from heading down the same dark path as his father, Dexter meets with a group of serial killers...who we're sure he'll eventually kill one by one!

Showtime today revealed the official trailer for the highly anticipated original drama series Dexter: Resurrection.

The trailer made its global debut at Ccxp Mexico City during the Dexter: Resurrection panel featuring showrunner and executive producer Clyde Phillips, executive producer and star Michael C. Hall, series star David Zayas, and executive producer Scott Reynolds.

The series premieres with two episodes on Friday, July 11, on streaming and on demand for Paramount+ subscribers with the Paramount+ with Showtime plan, before its on-air debut Sunday, July 13 at 8:00 p.m. Et/Pt. Remaining episodes will premiere weekly.

Internationally, the title will launch exclusively on Paramount+ in Canada, the U.K., Australia, Latin America, Brazil, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.
