'Prison Break' Leaves Netflix Next Month
Image
It’s been only a year since Prison Break returned to Netflix globally, allowing subscribers outside the US to enjoy all five seasons and ninety episodes, which we’ve now learned will be leaving the streamer again soon. Created by Paul Scheuring for Fox, the crime drama debuted on August 29, 2005, and concluded with a nine-episode fifth season that ran from April 4 to May 30, 2017. Later on, it made its way to Netflix, where it was initially removed internationally in January 2022, but returned in September 2024, months after Netflix US re-added the show in July.

As part of a content licensing deal with Disney for legacy Fox titles, Netflix re-added the hit action thriller to its catalog for a single year, which is set to end next month. With that, Prison Break will not be available to subscribers in all international regions, including Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, all of Latin America, Europe,...

‘Prison Break’ Star, 55, Provides Definitive Answer on Potential Reboot Return
Image
Prison Break was revived — and not for the first time — on Netflix last year when it was added to the platform and topped Nielsen charts for months straight. This prompted Hulu to greenlight a Prison Break reboot near the end of 2024, one that reportedly had no plans to bring back any former Prison Break stars. However, this didn’t stop fans from speaking their mind, with many calling for original stars Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller to return as Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows. Purcell, who is also known for his work as Mick Rory in DC’s Arrowverse, decided he’s heard enough. Purcell took to his personal Instagram to definitively respond to the rumors, shutting them down and confirming he will not return in the Prison Break reboot.

The Prison Break reboot is reportedly set in the same universe as the original Prison Break, but featuring all-new characters.

That one is All American, with the other three shows coming to an end in 2024. two of The CW cancellations weren’t actually due to the network itself. "It's Sad": All American Homecoming's Lando Actor Reacts To Cancellation After Season 3
Image
Actor Martin Bobb-Semple remains positive about the show's end, acknowledging the fans' role in its success and potential new opportunities for the cast and crew. All American: Homecoming's cancellation was due to The CW's new ownership and their focus on low-cost scripted series and sports programming. The original deal with Netflix did not extend to the spinoff, leading to a separate deal for only three seasons.

All American: Homecoming star Martin Bobb-Semple, who plays Orlando Johnson, shares an optimistic outlook on the show's cancellation. Debuting in February 2022, with a focus on Simone Hicks, it was announced in June that the All American spinoff would end on The CW with its upcoming third installment. That means that the All American: Homecoming cast, which has included Geffri Maya, Peyton Alex Smith, Kelly Jenrette, Cory Hardrict, Sylvester Powell, Rhoyle Ivy King, and more, will have to say goodbye to the sports saga created by Nkechi Okoro Carroll.

All American: Homecoming Cancelled After 3 Seasons, EP Responds With Emotional Statement: "I'm Devasted"
Image
All American: Homecoming will not be returning for season 4. The All American spinoff was cancelled by The CW more than a month ahead of its season 3 premiere. Creator Nkechi Okoro Carroll described herself as "devastated."

All American: Homecoming has been cancelled. The CW show, which was a spinoff from the popular high school football drama All American, followed original character Simone Hicks (Geffri Maya) to college. The show, which also starred Peyton Alex Smith, Kelly Jenrette, Cory Hardrict, Sylvester Powell, and Camille Hyde, was one of the few scripted programs on The CW not to be culled when the network was taken over by Nexstar. It was renewed for the upcoming All American: Homecoming season 3, though it had a reduced budget and had to demote several stars from the main cast.

Per Deadline, All American: Homecoming has been cancelled by The CW more than a month ahead of the premiere...

‘All American: Homecoming’ Ending With Season 3 at The CW
Image
The CW is cutting ties with another of its pre-Nexstar original series.

The network announced Wednesday that the forthcoming third season of All American: Homecoming will be its last. The college-set spinoff of All American is set to premiere July 8.

The news comes a few days after The CW renewed All American for a seventh season — albeit for a shorter run (13 episodes) than most of its past seasons.

With the end of Homecoming, All American and the forthcoming fourth (and final) season of Superman & Lois are the only scripted holdovers from The CW’s previous Warner Bros.-CBS regime. (The network canceled WalkerA in May.) Since Nexstar took a controlling interest in the network in late 2022, it has jettisoned most of the scripted series from the earlier days and leaned into a less expensive co-production model for scripted shows as it looks to make The CW profitable for the first time.

‘All American: Homecoming’ Showrunner Gives Update On Season 3 & Teases “New Direction” For CW Series

The All American universe is returning to The CW very soon.

While audiences will have to wait a few more months until they catch up with the students at Bringston University on All American: Homecoming, production is in full swing on the upcoming 13-episode season.
