Exclusive: Channel 5 is revisiting classic UK lifestyle show You Are What You Eat and giving it a contemporary twist by installing presenter Trisha Goddard as host.

The original show broadcast on Channel 4 between 2004 and 2007, with presenter Gillian McKeith helping people improve their diets by, among other things, displaying their weekly intake of food on a table and testing their feces.

Producer Cpl Production will revive these infamous format points for Channel 5, as Goddard teams with Dr Amir Khan (GPs: Behind Closed Doors) and other experts to help people turn their lives around.

Goddard is back on UK screens after a stint in the U.S., where she hosted NBCUniversal syndicated talk show Trisha Goddard. She starred in ITV’s Dancing On Ice last year, and is reportedly in talks to launch a new ITV chat show.

Channel 5 has commissioned three regional UK producers, Middlechild, Lambent Productions and Raise The Roof Productions, to work together as equals on landmark history series 1000 Years Of History.

The three companies will each produce two, 120-minute episodes for the series which will tell the story of six countries — China, Russia, America, Australia, Scotland and Ireland — using archive, contemporary footage and expert analysis.

Middlechild, Lambent and Raise The Roof will share resources, such as contributors, and are currently in production on the show, which will premiere later this year.

Middlechild is examining Australia and America, Lambent will tackle China and Russia, and Raise The Roof has been assigned to Scotland and Ireland.

Exclusive: British broadcaster Channel 5 is putting together Britain’s Master Crafters (w/t), a Making It-style four-part entertainment format from the creator of Masterchef.

The Viacom-owned network has commissioned Pi Productions, which is run by Masterchef and Grand Designs creator John Silver, to produce the factual entertainment format, which will look at hobby crafts in the UK.

Each week, the series will follow passionate, committed and inspirational hobbyists as they prepare to launch their handmade wares in craft fairs up and down the country. Each is obsessed with a different craft, and dreams of a life making their living from their hobby.

Damian Lewis: Spy Wars producer Alaska TV is sniffing out a U.S. sale of its latest format – a docu-series that takes four cocaine users on a dangerous journey to Colombia to learn about the effects of the class A drug.

This comes after Viacom’s Channel 5 commissioned three-part series Doing Drugs For Fun and Wme will help shop the format and finished tape of the show to U.S. broadcasters. Stateside, it will be known as Cocaine: Living With The Cartels.

Alaska’s Brighton-based division is producing the series, which distributor Drive will sell internationally outside of the UK and U.S. The series was commissioned by Emma Westcott for Channel 5 and it is exec produced by Alaska co-founder Chris Fouracre and Creative Director Ian Lamarra.
