Discovery’s annual “Shark Week” is now officially underway, and the horror genre is getting in on the feeding frenzy with the at-home premiere of Sean Byrne’s Dangerous Animals today.

One of Bloody Disgusting’s 10 best horror movies released in the first half of 2025, Dangerous Animals is now available for Digital purchase for $24.99 or at-home rental for $19.99.

It’s the only new shark attack movie that’s actually being released during “Shark Week” this year, but many more shark-themed horror movies are swimming our way very soon.

Exclusive: The Andrea Iervolino Company has launched commercial film label Aventura and unveiled it as a partner on upcoming action thriller Deep Water.

Directed by Renny Harlin, the previously announced production stars Aaron Eckhart, Ben Kingsley, and Nashi, seen recently in Chinese blockbuster Creation of the Gods 2 which grossed $385 millions worldwide.

Aventura will be focused on high-concept, commercial films, blending action, suspense, and mass appeal, and will be positioned alongside The Andrea Iervolino Company’s line-up focused on auteur-driven and biographical titles such as Maserati: The Brothers, Bugatti: The Genius, and Carnival at the End of Days.

“With Aventura, we are expanding our storytelling horizons and aiming to deliver bold, thrilling entertainment to audiences worldwide in 2D and 3D,” said CEO and founder Andrea Iervolino. “This move reflects our dedication to cinematic diversity — from prestige biopics to global action spectacles.”

Deep Water follows a group of international passengers flying from Los Angeles to Shanghai.

Academy Award-winner Russell Crowe is venturing into the world of mixed-martial-arts fighting for his new movie, Beast in Me. Per Deadline, new images from the film that was co-written by Crowe and stars the Gladiatoractor as well as Luke Hemsworth (Westworld) and Daniel MacPherson (Foundation), were just released. Beast in Me is directed by Tyler Atkins. David Frigerio co-wrote the script with Crowe.

Beast in Me is currently in production in Australia and Bangkok. Mojean Aria, Kelly Gale, Bren Foster, Saphira Moran, and Australian musician Amy Shark also star in the film. The production stills that were released from the film can be seen below.

Magenta Light Studios has secured the U.S. distribution rights for “Deep Water,” a new thriller directed by Renny Harlin, known for his work on “The Strangers” trilogy. The film, starring Aaron Eckhart and Ben Kingsley, comes from Arclight Films and is set for a theatrical release later this year.

“Deep Water” tells the story of a group of international passengers traveling from Los Angeles to Shanghai. When their plane is forced to make an emergency landing in shark-infested waters, they must set aside their differences and work together to escape both the sinking wreckage and the hungry predators circling them.

Netflix announced today that production of Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole has wrapped after 113 days of shooting across 160 locations. The streaming service has shared a first-look video featuring Tobias Santelmann as Harry Hole and Joel Kinnaman as Tom Waaler in Harry’s shabby Oslo apartment.

From best-selling author Jo Nesbø, one of the leading crime writers in the world, the nine-episode series will launch on Netflix in 2026.

The streaming service also revealed that Anders Danielsen Lie, Ane Dahl Torp and pop singer Dagny (Home for Christmas) have joined the cast of the anticipated series.

Filming started on May 23, 2024, and has lasted over 113 days in Oslo, including iconic Harry Hole locations like Harry’s favorite hangout Restaurant Schrøder and Frognerbadet.

In a trend that has been going on for the last few years, Uglies is the latest movie release to find huge success on streaming while bombing with both critics and audiences when it comes to its reviews. An upcoming Netflix crime series from an acclaimed Norweigan author just got a major update. A new report from Deadline revealed that Prison Break actor Peter Stormare, along with 27 others, have officially joined the cast of Jo Nesb's Detective Hole, a crime series based on Nesb's novels about Detective Harry Hole. Stormare joins Joel Kinnaman, Tobias Santelmann, and Pia Tjelta in the cast, along with other new additions: Anders Baasmo (The King's Choice), Ellen Helinder (Exit), Simon Berger (The Master Plan), and Kelly Gale (Plane). Anna Zackrisson, best known for helming five episodes of the Netflix original series Deliver Me, has also come on board to direct Jo Nesb's Detective Hole.

Actor Joel Kinnaman decided to go full method for his role in Silent Night and didn't want to speak to anyone, including his wife. Kinnaman's wife initially reacted negatively to his decision, but eventually agreed not to speak with him during the two-month shoot. Kinnaman quickly realized that method acting wasn't for him after observing others on the production "hanging out" and abandoned the idea of not speaking for the entirety of the shoot.

Joel Kinnaman decided that he wasn’t going to talk to his wife for nearly two months. No, he wasn’t upset with her, nor her with him. The questionable decision came when Kinnaman decided to go full method actor for his latest role in director John Woo’s Silent Night. Now, the film is an action movie in which Kinnaman’s character, Godlock, doesn’t speak a single word of dialogue… for the entire film!

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Wednesday, the For All Mankind actor told host Jimmy Fallon that since he has zero dialogue in the John Woo-directed film, he decided to “go full method on this one” for the first time.

Kinnaman recalled telling his fiancée Kelly Gale, “Listen, this is gonna be a tough one for our relationship. I’m not gonna talk for the whole shoot and not talk with you either. So we’re not gonna have any communication.”

Since Gale was understandably hesitant about the idea, the couple decided to consult their relationship coach to find a way to navigate it all. When Fallon asked Kinnaman if the relationship coach thought it was a good idea, the actor responded laughing, “No.”

Plane star Gerard Butler shares the story of how he accidentally burned himself with dangerous acid while filming the upcoming action thriller. Best known for movies like 300, Law Abiding Citizen, Olympus Has Fallen, and Greenland, Butler continues to make a name for himself in the action genre. While not all of his films are critical darlings, the movies generally prove popular with audiences with the Has Fallen franchise alone now gearing up for its fourth installment. Butler's latest movie, Plane, sees the actor playing pilot Brodie Torrance who is forced to land his aircraft in a warzone during a storm.

In a recent interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Butler recalls one particularly unpleasant experience while filming Plane that involved burning his face and hands with phosphoric acid.

Lionsgate has pushed up the release date for its Gerard Butler-led action-thriller Plane by two weeks — from January 27 to January 13, 2023.

The upcoming film based on an original idea from Charles Cumming follows commercial pilot Brodie Torrance (Butler), who after a heroic job of successfully landing his storm-damaged aircraft in hostile territory, finds himself threatened by militant pirates who are planning to take the plane and its passengers hostage.
