'Beast in Me' Reveals First Look at Russell Crowe Mma Drama
Image
Russell Crowe has already proven himself in the Colosseum in Ridley Scott's Gladiator. Now he's training a new fighter for the Mma octagon in the upcoming mixed martial arts action film Beast in Me. Mma movies have been rather hit-or-miss. Entries in the Never Back Down and Undisputed franchises (in so much as the latter can be called an Mma franchise) have received mixed reviews from audiences and critics, while Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton's Warrior is the undisputed pound-for-pound Goat of the sub-genre. But with the talent of Russell Crowe and the rest of its star-studded cast, Beast in Me has a solid shot at the title.

Thanks to Deadline, we have our first look at Crowe and Foundation star Daniel MacPherson in Beast in Me, along with the rest of the star-studded line-up. Alongside the pair, the movie also stars Luke Hemsworth, Mojean Aria, Kelly Gale,...

Gerard Butler Action Thriller 'Plane' Finds Success on Streaming
Image
Action star Gerard Butler continues to be hugely popular with audiences as we enter 2025. One of the actor’s best-reviewed movies, 2023’s Plane, is now taking flight on streaming, landing at #4 on Starz in the United States. Boasting a score of 79% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, audiences were even more enamored with this tale of a stranded passenger plane, awarding the movie a hugely impressive 94% on the Popcornmeter. “Check your critical thinking at the gate: The plot's preposterous and loaded with entertaining action, making Plane plenty of good old-fashioned fun,” the audience consensus reads.

Directed by Jean-François Richet and written by Charles Cumming and J. P. Davis, Plane is led by Gerard Butler as pilot Brodie Torrance and Luke Cage star Mike Colter as the mysterious convict Louis Gaspare. The rest of the cast behind the action thriller includes Daniella Pineda (Jurassic World Dominion), Yoson An (Mulan), Remi Adeleke (Transformers: The Last Knight...

Is Peris Actually Dead in Uglies?
Image
Quick Links What Happened to Peris in Uglies? Does Peris Return in the Uglies Book Series? Is Peris From Netflixs Uglies Actually Dead?

Books being made into movies is always slightly tricky since there is always a massive fanbase already connected to the novel series, which, understandably so, has high expectations regarding the storyline as well as the characters. Netflix has made the bold move of taking Scott Westerfelds 20-year-old novel series about a controversial topic and bringing it onto the screen. The opinions on the Netflix movie Uglies are split, but the YA adaptation has started a conversation about problematic beauty standards and the increase of cosmetic surgery in the younger generation, which would technically have the potential to make it one of the best movies on Netflix. An underlying issue specifically focused on in the Uglies movie is the use of social media and beauty filters, which feed...

The Real Hero in Netflix's Uglies Isn't Joey King's Character
Image
Harry Potter, Frodo Baggins, and Katniss Everdeen move aside. It is time to introduce a new hero, but, in this case, her spirit and mindset might already be flourishing in people all around the world. The recently released movie, Uglies, which is currently ranking second in Netflixs Top 10 in the United States, spreads quite the message. Captivating at least the attention of anyone who is interested in YA book-to-movie adaptations, the Netflix movie might also be of interest to social media users, especially those who are occasionally making use of various beauty filters.

Set in a futuristic dystopian world, Uglies centers on the life of Tally Youngblood. The teenager has spent the past few years of her life longing for a specific day that society presents as becoming worthy of the wonders that life holds. During her wait, she forms friendships, some even unexpected, wants nothing more than to become pretty,...

Why the Message of Uglies Is Still Relevant 20 Years Later
Image
Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat. The list of social media apps that encourage the use of different filters is growing. Not too long ago, it was fun filters giving the user bunny ears or hearts spread over their face. Now it is filters that make lips bigger and the skin softer. Some of them are even shown to cosmetic surgeons by potential patients, resulting in faces all around the world slowly but surely starting to look eerily similar. Its no wonder that the Kardashians are often referenced when it comes to the topic of cosmetic surgery and the extensive, even dangerous, use of filters.

Only recently, Netflix has released a new movie, which is supposed to unveil just that highlighting the dangers and insecure mindsets that are present on social media and spread through society like poison. Whether it is the chilling depiction of perfect humans who look like a walking Instagram...

Currently, the film is sitting on a 20% Rotten Tomatoes score, with audiences rating it a little higher at 54% - a long way from the 95%/70% scores that Rebel Ridge holds in comparison.

Aaron Eckhart's Upcoming Disaster Movie Could Be The Deep Blue Sea Sequel I've Been Waiting For
Image
Get ready for Aaron Eckhart's upcoming shark movie Deep Water, which could be the Deep Blue Sea sequel audiences have waited for. Director Renny Harlin's return to shark-infested waters will surely bring back the excitement of his past horror hits. Eckhart's action star evolution continues in Deep Water, a film that promises wild deaths and thrilling action.

I can't wait for Aaron Eckhart's upcoming disaster movie, which promises to be the Deep Blue Sea I've waited 25 years to see. I can still vividly recall the visceral shock that rippled through the theater during Samuel L. Jackson's death in Deep Blue Sea in 1999, where his character is snatched by a shark in the middle of a stirring speech. This has since become the most iconic part of the Renny Harlin-directed blockbuster, but there's still plenty to enjoy about this finely crafted B-movie.

Deep Blue Sea arrived at a curious time for visual effects,...

Silent Night's Joel Kinnaman Tries Going Full Method, Vowed Not to Speak to His Wife While Shooting Film
Image
Actor Joel Kinnaman decided to go full method for his role in Silent Night and didn't want to speak to anyone, including his wife. Kinnaman's wife initially reacted negatively to his decision, but eventually agreed not to speak with him during the two-month shoot. Kinnaman quickly realized that method acting wasn't for him after observing others on the production "hanging out" and abandoned the idea of not speaking for the entirety of the shoot.

Joel Kinnaman decided that he wasn’t going to talk to his wife for nearly two months. No, he wasn’t upset with her, nor her with him. The questionable decision came when Kinnaman decided to go full method actor for his latest role in director John Woo’s Silent Night. Now, the film is an action movie in which Kinnaman’s character, Godlock, doesn’t speak a single word of dialogue… for the entire film!

Joel Kinnaman Says He Tried Not Speaking for Two Months While Filming ‘Silent Night’
Image
Joel Kinnaman is sharing his failed attempt at method acting for his role in the upcoming action movie Silent Night.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Wednesday, the For All Mankind actor told host Jimmy Fallon that since he has zero dialogue in the John Woo-directed film, he decided to “go full method on this one” for the first time.

Kinnaman recalled telling his fiancée Kelly Gale, “Listen, this is gonna be a tough one for our relationship. I’m not gonna talk for the whole shoot and not talk with you either. So we’re not gonna have any communication.”

Since Gale was understandably hesitant about the idea, the couple decided to consult their relationship coach to find a way to navigate it all. When Fallon asked Kinnaman if the relationship coach thought it was a good idea, the actor responded laughing, “No.”

But he said his...

Gerard Butler Accidentally Burned Himself With Acid While Filming Plane
Image
Plane star Gerard Butler shares the story of how he accidentally burned himself with dangerous acid while filming the upcoming action thriller. Best known for movies like 300, Law Abiding Citizen, Olympus Has Fallen, and Greenland, Butler continues to make a name for himself in the action genre. While not all of his films are critical darlings, the movies generally prove popular with audiences with the Has Fallen franchise alone now gearing up for its fourth installment. Butler's latest movie, Plane, sees the actor playing pilot Brodie Torrance who is forced to land his aircraft in a warzone during a storm.

In a recent interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Butler recalls one particularly unpleasant experience while filming Plane that involved burning his face and hands with phosphoric acid.

The actor reveals that he somehow got the acid on his hands while pretending to fix part of the plane...

‘Plane’ Review: Gerard Butler Pilots This Serviceable But Fun B-Movie-Style Action Flick
Image
You can imagine the committee meetings devoted to finding just the right title for primo action star Gerard Butler’s latest, in which he plays an airline pilot encountering lightning strikes that force him to crash-land on a rebel-infested remote island in the Philippines. As it criss-crosses the airline disaster genre and frightening jungle thriller, why not just tell the public what it really is. While it could be called Terror Island, or maybe Pirates Jungle, or Flight to the Death, the producers came up with the inspired plain Plane. That works well enough for anyone expecting Airport meets The High and the Mighty, but really it is just the first half that fits snugly into that category, nail-biting as it is.

Most of the action comes when the plane somehow survives a fierce lightning storm (nice FX here) by crash-landing in the largely uninhabited Jolo Island Cluster in the...

Kelly Gale, a former Victoria’s Secret bombshell, went back to her roots as she posed in a white lace bra and underwear with a pair of white socks.

Her toned figure was out in full force as she lay back on dark red and beige pillows and blankets, putting her arms over her head as she looked at the camera with a sultry gaze. Kelly’s trademark brunette locks were worn down, giving a whole new meaning to bedhead.

Known for her confident strut down the Victoria’s Secret runway, she could have been posing in one of the brand’s famous catalogs. However, she was posing for the clothing brand New Yorker.

Kelly has a gorgeous exotic look, born to an Australian father and mother whose origins are from India.
