Apple TV+ is still relatively new in the streaming industry, and despite having made a name for themselves by producing quality content that people talk about to no end, the Apple-owned streaming service has produced some shows that don’t get talked about much, but not because they are bad, but because they are overlooked. On one hand, Apple TV+ has produced extremely popular shows like Ted Lasso and Severance; on the other hand, it has brilliant but nowhere near as popular shows like Drops of God and Slow Horses. That’s why we decided to compile a list of all the brilliant shows that have been overlooked by the masses.

Attack on Titan is one of the best and most beloved manga series out there, and there are many reasons why Attack on Titan is the greatest anime ever. Within the story by Hajime Isayama, Mikasa Ackerman is one of the best characters in Attack on Titan and one of the most powerful members of the Scouts. In a live-action iteration, the actors have to be top-notch because they must communicate much of the internal dialogue and motivations that are written in the manga or told in voice-over in the anime. This is especially true for quiet characters like Mikasa.
Casting Mikasa would be one of the most important parts of making a live-action Attack on Titan movie today, as she is almost as vital to the narrative as Eren, the protagonist. While the countries and locations in Attack on Titan are fictional, Mikasa is descended from Hizuru, which is...

A sequel to The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes could potentially reverse Clemensia's unfair death, offering her the return she deserves. Despite no official announcement, chances for a Songbirds & Snakes follow-up movie look promising, creating room for Clemensia's return. The idea of a sequel for the franchise is up for debate, but bringing back Clemensia in The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes 2 could add depth to Snow's story.

Speaking with Deadline at SXSW about her A24 apocalyptic comedy Y2K, Zegler admitted that she doesn't know what Lionsgate has planned for The Hunger Games, although she revealed she believes Lucy survived the events of the 2023 prequel. "I don't know. It's not up to me, but as Olivia Rodrigo said, 'She’s in the trees, she’s in the breeze,'" said Zegler, referencing the singer's song, "Can't Catch Me Now," that played over the prequel film's end credits. Clemensia's role in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes movie is smaller than in the book, with the character not participating in the games or having her snake bite transformation play out on screen. Actor Ashley Liao shares that she would have loved to have been involved in more action scenes as well as Clemensia's snake transformation, but acknowledges that it's a "dense" book. The decision not to include select Clemensia book moments is due to movie adaptations having less room for subplots and supporting characters compared to their book counterparts.

Shared on X by @DDevilUpdates, the set video offers a behind-the-scenes look at an upcoming fight in the Disney+ series between Daredevil and Bullseye, who is also shown sporting a more comics-accurate look. The new costume for the Man Without Fear is noticeably brighter and more red than his Netflix or Echo garb. The film adaptation of "The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes" makes Clemensia's fate less physically gruesome compared to the source material, where she undergoes a horrific transformation after being attacked by snakes. The Hunger Games movies have a habit of toning down the more gruesome details from the books, such as Peeta's extreme injuries and the horrifying nature of the Mutts. The decision to refrain from including the more graphic moments in the films makes sense due to runtime limitations and the desire to maintain a PG-13 rating for broader audience appeal.
2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes made a noticeable change to Clemensia's fate, and it's not the first time The Hunger Games film franchise chose to leave out a gruesome detail. Ashley Liao, who recently appeared in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, has revealed which X-Men character she would love to play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
During an interview with ComicBook.com, Liao was asked if she had any comic book aspirations. "Oh my gosh. I mean, I feel like if I could go back in time, I would've loved to have been Mystique," Liao shared. "Something about the way that Jennifer Lawrence did that, though, I don't know that I could have filled those shoes, but I love her character. I love that blue. It's mesmerizing. But I really feel for how much she probably had to sit in hair and makeup for all of that. I know that the prosthetics and all of that, it just takes a long time." She jokingly added that if ComicBook.com knew someone at Marvel that they should "give them a call.

He confirms this while discussing the use of violence as a key element in the storytelling, with each shift in the protagonist's character tied to an act of violence or character death. A theory suggests that the Capitol may have orchestrated the arena bombing in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes to further their own agenda, blaming the Districts for the attack. Dr. Gaul, the Head Gamemaker, is the most likely suspect behind the bombing due to her cruel and cunning nature, as well as her vendetta against the Districts. The Capitol would benefit from the bombing by increasing interest in the Hunger Games and using it as justification for their continued punishment of the Districts.

When books get adapted for the big screen there are bound to be some differences from page to screen. Whether it be due to pacing or runtime, sometimes there are parts that just need to be omitted. The same is true for The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Like the rest of The Hunger Games series, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is based on the novel by Suzanne Collins. And like the film adaptations of the previous novels, things had to be cut down when translating to the screen. Most of the changes made are subtle, or ones that help the story flow better. But there is one omission that didn’t go over quite as well with fans of the book: the shortening of Clemensia Dovecoat’s (Ashley Liao) storyline. In the novel, she is given a much larger arc, and we get a bit more insight into her relationship with Coriolanus.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes is based on the book of the same by Suzanne Collins, and among the changes the movie made to the book is the possible death of one character. The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes is a prequel to the Hunger Games movies, and as such,...

It’s been eight years since we last visited the world of Panem. Now the world spans to five films and this time we’re sent back over 60 years to see the 10th annual Hunger Games and the rise of Coriolanus Snow. This time Snow is played by newcomer Tom Blyth, who has to carry the runtime of the film all by himself. He’s joined for the most part by Rachel Zegler, who plays Lucy Gray.
The two leads carry the film effortlessly, Tom Blyth in particular does a fantastic job of giving complexity to Snow, showcasing a flawed but ambitious character as we slowly see his loss of humanity grow on screen. The film, unlike its predecessors,...

Director Jordan Voght-Roberts, known for his work on Kong: Skull Island, is taking on the live-action adaptation of Mobile Suit Gundam. The concept art for the live-action movie looks promising, although casting details and the plot are still being kept under wraps. A diverse range of talent, including Rain, Mackenyu, Ashley Liao, and more, would be perfect to bring the characters of Mobile Suit Gundam to life if cast in the movie adaptation.
The Gundam franchise is one of the most beloved anime of all time, which is exactly why a live-action Mobile Suit Gundam movie adaptation would need to be very vigilant with its casting. Mobile Suit Gundam debuted in Japan in the late '70s and is essentially a cautionary tale about war and its effects on humanity, told through the lens of a group of humans who pilot humanoid robots to combat intergalactic threats. The odds of us volunteering as tributes to see the “Hunger Games” prequel? High. Even though “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” takes place long before the star-crossed love triangle of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) and Gale Hawthorn (Liam Hemsworth), the Lionsgate prequel film has racked up its own set of stars. Ten years after the original adaptation of Suzanne Collins’s trilogy into four films, Panem’s past can finally come to light, along with President Snow’s.
Francis Lawrence, who directed all but the first “Hunger Games” film, returns to helm the prequel installment, which arrives just in time for Thanksgiving. Here’s everything we know about “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes”:
Who’s on the Soundtrack?
Olivia Rodrigo wrote and recorded “Can’t Catch Me Now” for the prequel film. The song was officially confirmed and announced Nov.

The cast of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is now permitted to promote the upcoming prequel, less than a month before its theatrical debut.
Per Deadline, Lionsgate, which is not a part of the AMPTP, officially signed a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. This waiver will allow the upcoming movie’s cast, including Rachel Zegler and Tom Blyth, to participate in promotional activities despite the ongoing actors' strike. This marks the biggest project to obtain an interim agreement since the SAG-AFTRA strike began over three months ago. The dystopian action prequel is currently on track to earn a potential gross of around $50 million during its opening weekend, which would make it the lowest opening installment within the blockbuster franchise.

"They're to punish the districts. Those tributes don't have a choice..." Lionsgate launched a second trailer for the prequel spin-off movie The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, also based on Suzanne Collins' other new book. It's set 64 years before Katniss Everdeen volunteered as tribute, and decades before Coriolanus Snow became the tyrannical President of Panem. Leading up to the 10th Hunger Games, Snow mentors and develops feelings for the female District 12 tribute, Lucy Gray. So this is pretty much just Hunger Games all over again – but set in the past. It's explores the origins of this brutal ritual and how it's used as a method of control. Rachel Zegler (from Spielberg's West Side Story) stars as Lucy Gray Baird, and Tom Blyth (from "Billy the Kid") is co-starring as Coriolanus Snow. It's directed again by Francis Lawrence, who also made The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and the two Mockingjay movies.

"Welcome, welcome! Happy Hunger Games, and may the odds be ever in your favor." Long before Effie Trinket greeted the coal mining citizens of District 12 and Katniss Everdeen volunteered in place of her sister for the 74th annual Hunger Games, thereby starting a revolution, there was Lucy Gray Baird. It's been nearly a decade since "The Hunger Games" film series based on Suzanne Collins' award-winning novels came to a close, but the prequel film based on "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" is on its way.
It's a fitting arrival as the U.S. seemingly crumbles into a more fascist state with every passing day — making "The Hunger Games" films feel more relevant now than when they first debuted — but also because "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" focuses on the early years of Coriolanus Snow, the villainous tyrant of "The Hunger Games" played by Donald Sutherland. While she doesn’t expect this change in plans, Ever still hopes to film her audition for a dance company out of the way of her parents discovering, since they don’t realize her true passion lies in dance. Apart from the two career paths, dreams and languages Ever learns to navigate at Loveboat, she also meets two very different boys — Rick...

Right now, with the sheer number of coming-of-age teen dramas with voice-overs about self-discovery released every day on Ott platforms, it seems like there’s not much room for originality. What’s interesting is that Love In Taipei isn’t even about teenagers; the protagonist, Ever Wong (Ashley Liao), is actually 21 when she’s forced into summer school by her parents. Immigrant Taiwanese Ever is weighed down by parental expectations and pursuing her own dreams. Nothing new there, but her self-aware journey begins when she goes to Taipei for a summer of what she thinks is more studying than fun but quickly learns otherwise. It’s true that there’s only so much you can expect from such a story, but what I found lacking was the exploration of Taiwanese culture. Funnily enough, Ever has gone to learn Mandarin, how to make dumplings, and, so to speak, her own culture.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is a movie adaptation of a prequel novel in The Hunger Games franchise, exploring new places in Panem and delving into its mythology. The story focuses on a young version of the main villain, Coriolanus Snow, as he mentors the female tribute Lucy Gray Baird in the 10th Hunger Games, which will have a lasting impact on Panem. Unlike his portrayal in the original trilogy, Snow is going through a difficult time and needs his tribute to win the games to financially recover, driving him to become the first mentor from The Academy to win. The movie features a talented cast including Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler in leading roles.

While “Love in Taipei” promises transportive and transformative escapades with its adaptation of Abigail Hing Wen’s novel “Loveboat, Taipei,” the story’s core strengths are undervalued in the translation from book to screen. This Paramount Plus feature, centered on a young woman embarking on a life-changing overseas journey, only pays lip service to the struggle of a first-generation Asian-American caught between two worlds. Instead, it places more emphasis on her romantic entanglements with two young men who all too often motivate her foundational change. Director Arvin Chen cleverly brings us into her psyche through whimsical aesthetic techniques and fantastical asides, but doesn’t make her emotions palpable enough to touch our hearts.
Eighteen-year-old Ever Wong (Ashley Liao) has always felt like an outsider in her tiny suburban town of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, being one of only three Asian-American students in her predominantly white school. Her parents (Jacko Chiang and...

After a great month of movies in July, Paramount+ is getting the summer fun this August with more great films. If you're a documentary or music fan, then this is your month, as Paramount+ is looking through the history and impact of mixtapes on the music industry with big-name artists and examining the one night which made Elvis "The King" Presley matter again to Americans and kept his memory and music alive – and some young-adult Asian romance in Taipei for those of you that are into that.
On Aug. 1, we have the premiere of Mixtape, studying the ancient history of the antiquated technology known as the mixtape and its influence on hip-hop and the world of music alongside the likes of DJ Khaled, Mike Tyson, and Lil Wayne. Then on Aug. 10, we will see the premiere of Love in Taipei, where a white-washed Asian girl is thrown into a romantic Asian immersion program.
