The Bad Guys 2 Review: Mr. Wolf and his crew accept their most daring job yet in this stylish and ambitious sequel
Image
Plot: As The Bad Guys struggle to find trust and acceptance in their newly minted lives as Good Guys, they are pulled out of retirement and forced to do “one last job” by an all-female squad of criminals.

Review: While the world waits for George Clooney and Brad Pitt to assemble their crew for another chapter of the Ocean’s saga, the Big Bad Wolf and his crack team of criminals-gone-good are back for another outrageous heist with The Bad Guys 2! Taking inspiration from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and stylish live-action films like The Fifth Element, Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs, and Ocean’s Eleven, the latest film in the Bad Guys franchise is every bit as good as the original, and takes the story and characters to new heights (literally and metaphorically).

Pierre Perifel returns to the director’s chair for the go-big-or-go-home sequel. His direction feels less dynamic this time around,...

Lee Isaac Chung in talks to direct Ocean’s prequel
Image
The Ocean’s prequel seems alive and well as Twisters director Lee Isaac Chung is in talks to direct.

The Ocean’s prequel has been in development hell for quite a while now. It was originally rumoured in 2022 and said to be starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. Since then, it’s been quiet on that front while a new Ocean’s sequel seems to be in the works separately with David Leitch potentially directing.

But the prequel doesn’t seem to be completely dead. Deadline now reports that Twisters director Lee Isaac Chung is circling the project. Robbie is still on producing duties for Warner Bros. via her LuckyChap company, but whether she’ll star, with or without Gosling, is still unclear.

We do know that there is a script and it’s written by Carrie Solomon. We probably won’t know anything else about the script for a good while as Warner Bros.

Lee Isaac Chung in Talks to Direct Margot Robbie’s ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ Prequel
Image
There’s news that Lee Isaac Chung, the filmmaker behind the Oscar-nominated movie Minari, might be stepping in to direct the Ocean’s Eleven prequel. The film is being produced by Warner Bros. Pictures and LuckyChap Entertainment, Margot Robbie’s production company.

Like most Ocean’s projects, details about the story are being kept tightly under wraps. The film is still in early stages, and no actors have officially signed on yet. The screenplay, written by Carrie Solomon, is based on characters originally created by George Clayton Johnson and Jack Golden Russell.

Back in May 2022, it was announced that a prequel set in 1960s Europe was in the works. This prequel isn’t a reboot but will fit within the same world as the original Ocean’s Eleven movies. Margot Robbie is set to star and produce the film.

Initially, Jay Roach was attached to direct, with Carrie Solomon writing the script.

Warner Bros. is gearing up for another high-stakes job — and they’ve found the man to pull it off. Lee Isaac Chung, the Oscar-nominated filmmaker behind Minari and the recent box office hit Twisters, is in talks to direct the upcoming Ocean’s 11 prequel, according to a report by Deadline. Produced by LuckyChap and based on a script by Carrie Solomon, the new film is still in early development, and — in true Ocean’s fashion — plot details are being kept tightly under wraps. No cast deals are in place, and the studio is staying silent on whether the project will tie directly to the George Clooney-led trilogy or the all-female spin-off led by Sandra Bullock. What we do know: this marks a stylish shift in direction for the franchise, with Chung bringing his signature visual poetry and character-driven storytelling to a brand synonymous with charm, slick pacing, and big ensemble energy.

Image
Netflix’s Shark Whisperer is a fascinating documentary film about the commendable efforts of the young ethologist and conservationist, Ocean Ramsey. If ‘Now You See Me’ Franchise Is About Heists, They Could’ve Learn a Thing or Two From the ‘Oceans’ Movie Series
Image
Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, the third movie in its magic-fueled heist franchise. The trailer is packed with flashy illusions, fast cuts, and a new generation of performers. But three movies in, it’s worth asking whether the magic act has truly mastered the art of the con.

With its latest installment on the horizon, the movie series continues to dazzle with spectacle yet struggles to deliver the clever precision that defines the genre’s best. If Now You See Me is truly about heists, it might be time the franchise took a few notes from the Ocean’s movie series, where clever antics make the magic real.

Steven Soderbergh addresses Black Bag underperforming in theaters
Image
For decades, Steven Soderbergh was the king of the hill when it came to the “one for them, one for me” model. We’re talking following up one of the highest-grossing movies of its year, Ocean’s Eleven, with the $2 million Full Frontal, along with balancing the Ocean’s trilogy with indies, classic Hollywood homages and four-plus-hour biopics on Argentine revolutionaries. More than 35 years into his career, Soderbergh has been the champion of mid-budget fare. But when it doesn’t succeed as intended, what’s the reaction?

Speaking with The Independent, Steven Soderbergh said it’s a bit of a disappointment that movies like his most recent, Black Bag — which had a budget around $50-$60 million — don’t have big turnouts at the theatre. “This is the kind of film I made my career on. And if a mid-level budget, star-driven movie can’t seem to get people over the age...

10 Female Anime Characters Better Than Solo Leveling's Cha Hae-in
Image
When anime fans watch the Solo Levelinganime, they will mainly focus on the Op protagonist Sung Jinwoo himself. But even when Jinwoo fights as a solo leveler warrior, he might need some backup, and he can't ask for better backup than the S-ranked hunter Cha Hae-in. Cha is one of Korea's very best hunters, a tough and capable monster slayer who is at the top of her game. She is also the best female character in Solo Leveling so far.

Still, even if Cha is a fun character to watch and a terrific hunter, anime fans have seen better female warriors in similar series. For all her powerful skills and cool armor, Cha hasn't been developed very deeply, and she doesn't feel memorable or emotionally resonant just yet. Until the Solo Leveling anime can push Cha to the next level as a character, anime fans can point to other female fighters with cooler skills,...

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy was another film about the life of British Intelligence Officers that turned the world on its head.

Fans can now add another name to this illustrious list—Steven Soderbergh’s Black Bag. The Michael Fassbender starrer, which hit the theatres in the US on 14 March 2025, has already carved its place in fans’ (and critics’) hearts.

‘Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure’ Editors Didn’t Let Hirohiko Araki Introduce His First Female Protagonist for an Absurd Reason
Image
Hirohiko Araki didn’t limit the various Joestar Group to just male protagonists. In Part 6 of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, titled Stone Ocean, the JoJo this time was Jolyne Cujoh. She was the first female main protagonist in the entire expansive series and became an icon for it.

Araki, however, wanted to introduce a strong female protagonist well before Stone Ocean. Part 3, titled Stardust Crusaders, depicts Jotaro Kujo’s journey. A young girl named Anne follows his group from Pakistan and is featured in the first part.

The creator of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure wanted Anne to have a much bigger role in the series. He pitched the idea of her gaining a Stand to his editors. They, however, disagreed with them, stating that it wouldn’t appeal to the male Shonen demographic. This, of course, didn’t stop him from making Jolyne.

David Leitch to Direct New Action Heist Movie at Amazon Before Ocean's 14
Image
In January 2025, it was reported that David Leitch was in talks to direct Warner Bros.' Ocean's 14. However, the long-awaited heist sequel will reportedly not be the next movie Leitch makes.

Instead, per Deadline, Leitch has signed on to direct an untitled bank heist action movie. The project is moving quickly toward production at Amazon. Plot details remain under wraps. Mark Bianculli, whose credits include Hunters, Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector, and the upcoming Cliffhanger reboot, wrote the screenplay. Leitch will also produce with Kelly McCormick under their 87North banner, alongside Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, and Allan Mandelbaum, with Bianculli serving as executive producer of the project.

“The world just got a little less funny”: Death of a Beloved Ocean’s Trilogy Star Hit George Clooney Especially Hard
Image
Ocean’s Eleven has turned into a cult-classic favorite among movie fans due to its ingenious plot, but more so because of its stellar ensemble cast. This is why when Bernie Mac passed away in 2008, it felt like the whole world shattered for George Clooney and his costars.

Mac played Frank Catton in the film trilogy, a discredited croupier and con man, who worked alongside Clooney’s Danny Ocean and his team of heist accomplices. The loss of Mac also affected the development of a planned sequel.

“It’s very hard to believe that”: Garth Ennis Believes Marvel Would’ve Ruined R-Rated Story That Was Rumored to Star George Clooney
Image
Garth Ennis, the celebrated comic book creator behind The Boys and Marvel’s Fury, has cast doubt on the long-standing rumor that George Clooney turned down the role of Nick Fury due to Ennis’ controversial 2001 miniseries. In an interview with Comic Book Herald, Ennis expressed skepticism about whether Clooney had ever read Fury and questioned whether Marvel would have adapted his R-rated take on the character had a film materialized.

And while Samuel L. Jackson gave a new lease of life to the character, Clooney is undoubtedly a face fans will love to see in the MCU. The role of Fury, however, may never have been the ideal for the Ocean’s star.

After four turns of being denied Album of the Year at the Grammys — losses that said four blockbuster albums (two of which spawned their own films), four legendary world tours, two Super Bowl performances, more Grammy wins than any other person, and many more acts of unequivocal genius were simply not good enough — Beyoncé finally walked away with that coveted golden gramophone for Cowboy Carter.

Rescue: Hi-Surf Season 1 Episode 12 Review: Surge
Image
It was a busy day for the lifeguards on Rescue: Hi-Surf Season 1 Episode 12, as a tsunami warning meant herding everyone off the beach, and for Sonny, he had to search for his missing daughter.

While ramping up the action, the tsunami threat slowed the ongoing storylines, especially in the aftermath of Will and Em’s “breakup” and Em’s decision to back out of becoming captain.

It was a long day but an impactful one that launched a slew of new stories that will guide us into the second half of the season.

(Zach Dugan/Fox)

Sonny started the hour seemingly still convinced that he was ready to retire, even with Em throwing a wrench into everything during Rescue: Hi-Surf Season 1 Episode 11 when she decided she no longer wanted it.

On the one hand, Sonny is a proud guy who made a decision that he wanted to stick to. He...

A tsunami may be headed to Hawaii, meaning the North Shore lifeguards are on high alert.

Tsunamis have the potential to inflict wide-scale destruction, and with a warning looming, it will be imperative for Sonny and his team to secure the beaches and look out for their fellow neighbors.

For Sonny, in particular, he’ll find himself looking for his daughter Ocean, who’s missing amid the warning during Rescue: Hi-Surf Season 1 Episode 12, as you’ll see in a clip exclusive to TV Fanatic.

We’ve seen Sonny and Ocean’s relationship throughout the season be a bit rocky in the aftermath of Zion’s death, but the two have gotten to a much better place as time has passed and they’ve talked to one another.

But Ocean is still a teenager, and teenagers sometimes do questionable things like skipping school or saying they will be in...

Frank Ocean Has Begun Shooting His Directorial Debut
Image
If the four-year gap between Frank Ocean’s debut studio album Channel Orange and his follow-ups Endless and Blonde felt long, it’s now been over double the wait to see if another album will ever materialize from the wunderkind artist. We now have a major update on Ocean’s creative output, but rather than a new album in the works, he’s started shooting his directorial debut.

Variety reports David Jonsson has landed the lead role of Ocean’s directorial debut, which Ocean also wrote and is now shooting in Mexico City. While no plot details have arrived, a bit more digging reveals the current title is Philly and shooting actually began in mid-December. As seen below, Ocean was also spotted in Mexico City this past summer shooting footage. Earlier rumors suggested A24 and Taylor Russell were involved in the project, but that has yet to be confirmed.

Every Ocean's Movie, Ranked From Worst To Best
Image
If you're only familiar with director Steven Soderbergh's take on Danny Ocean's (George Clooney) story in his "Ocean's" trilogy — which kicked off in 2001 — you might not know that the actual first movie centering around a guy named Ocean and a big Las Vegas heist actually came out in 1960. So which ones in this series are the best, and which are the worst?

I feel pretty comfortable saying that I'm going to ruffle some feathers with this ranking, and I'm fine with that. I love picking hyper-specific hills and then dying upon them; it's one of my absolute favorite hobbies. Still, with just five "Ocean's" movies to choose from — putting aside the rumored prequel with Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie as Danny's parents — it's a fairly close ranking, but there's still a definitive answer. Here are the "Ocean's" movies ranked from worst to best, and I guarantee people...

David Leitch in Talks to Direct ‘Ocean’s 14’ with Pitt and Clooney Reportedly Returning
Image
Back in September, Deadline hinted that Conclave director Edward Berger might take the reins for the long-awaited Ocean’s 14. At the time, we knew it was far from a done deal, and now it seems Berger is officially out of the picture.

But don’t worry—there’s some good news. According to Deadline, David Leitch, the co-creator of John Wick and director of The Fall Guy, is in early talks to take over instead, via the InSneider.

If things work out, Leitch would be the first to direct an Ocean’s sequel that isn’t led by Steven Soderbergh. The best part? George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and most of Danny Ocean’s crew are expected to return for one last heist.

Clooney himself recently confirmed in an interview with Uproxx that the script is finished. While plot details are under wraps, Clooney did tease that the film might lean...
