The new Batman State Farm commercial really caught people off guard. The ad, titled “Batman vs. Bateman,” featured Jason Bateman as a second-rate vigilante named Bateman, while the real Batman operates in the background. It’s amazing how the commercial managed to deliver such comic-accurate versions of Batman and his rogues’ gallery, more than some actual movies have.

Leave it to a TV commercial to give DC fans the most comic-accurate version of Batman and his rogues gallery of all time. State Farm's "Batman vs. Bateman" spot saw Jason Bateman play a second-rate knock-off of The Dark Knight, while the real Batman patrolled Gotham City cleaning up after him. The ad also included The Joker, The Riddler, Catwoman, and Two-Face, among many others, giving them more comic-accurate designs than most past DC movies. While Bateman didn't hide behind the cowl when "fighting" crime in Gotham, the real Batman remained a mystery... until now.
State Farm's Batman actor was revealed by makeup artist, Eliza Mollie Till, who shared some behind-the-scenes shots on Instagram. Sharing her work on the viral advertisement, Till confirmed that this version of Batman was played by Nicholas Hayner. While you might not recognize his name, you've definitely seen Hayner's work on the big screen.

State Farm recently launched a new marketing campaign featuring Gotham City's heroes and villains. It's hard to understand why it wasn't released during the Super Bowl (rumour has it the LA wildfires might have delayed the campaign), particularly as many have praised its movie-quality visuals.
If the insurance company hoped that the spot would go viral, it's worked, and State Farm is on everyone's radar, as a result. In the promo, Batman - and "Bateman" - encounter many of Gotham's greatest supervillains, with the designs for characters like The Joker, Poison Ivy, and The Riddler singled out as being better than those we've seen in movies like The Batman and Zack Snyder's Justice League.
Thanks to makeup artist Eliza Mollie Till and props builder Dan Crawley, we have several new behind-the-scenes photos. From the comic-accurate Poison Ivy to the teeth that gave the Clown Prince of Crime his iconic smile,...
