‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Creator Jenny Han Talks Season 3 Book Changes, ‘Satisfying’ Ending for YA Phenomenon
Image
Ever since chatter about the third and final season of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” began, creator and author Jenny Han has teased that the ending of her book series might not determine exactly how — and with which Fisher brother — Belly’s journey might end.

Han, who published the last novel in the trilogy, “We’ll Always Have Summer,” well over a decade ago in 2011, is used to fans shipping Belly (Lola Tung), with either Conrad (Christopher Briney) or Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). But she admits the fandom for the Prime Video series has upped the ante, leading to plenty of speculation about how the love triangle might end.

“I’m always thinking about my book fans,” Han said. “There’s Team Conrad book fans, and there’s also some Team Jeremiah book fans … there were teams even when I was writing them years ago, so it’s not new, although...

Per Prime Video, “Her future seems set, until some core-shaking events bring her first love Conrad back into her life. Now on the brink of adulthood, Belly finds herself at a crossroads and must decide which brother has her heart. Summer will never be the same.”

Film Review: ‘Crown Vic’
Alec Baldwin, Josh Hopkins, Thomas Jane, Bridget Moynahan, Gregg Bello, David Krumholtz, Anjul Nigam, Scottie Thompson, and Luke Kleintank in Crown Vic (2019)
Definitely the more sober-sided of two new films involving cops and cop-killers, “Crown Vic” juggles slice-of-life observation and thriller elements as a grizzled Lapd veteran shepherds a newbie through his first patrol shift. Writer-director Joel Souza’s “Crown Vic” doesn’t always balance those elements ideally, but it’s still a respectable if non-revelatory cruise through a familiar terrain of mean streets and men in blue.

Transformed by a darkened crew cut and ’stache, with a crankypants working-stiff voice, Thomas Jane is almost unrecognizable as longtime peace officer Ray Mandel. He’s in an irritable mood even before meeting trainee Nick Holland, who’s just transferred from an off-street post in Oakland to commence his maiden tour in a squad car three years after police-academy graduation. Nick is from a family of cops, and seems to feel he’s got a lot to prove. Yet he’s taken aback by Ray’s cynical,...

Exclusive: The Cast of ‘Stitchers’ Talks Season 3 Romances And The Real Life Murders They Would Solve
Emma Ishta in Stitchers (2015)
It’s been over a year since Freeform’s only procedural drama, Stitchers, graced television screens with its season two finale, making the third season’s return more anticipated than ever -- and also requiring a bit of a refresher for viewers.

The series follows a government agency where people can “stitch” into the memories of people recently killed to investigate their unsolved murders.

For those that haven’t been binge-watching the entire series in preparation, the most important tidbit to remember from last season’s dramatic cliffhanger is Kirsten (Emma Ishta) was trapped in her own stitch memory while Cameron (Kyle Harris) did everything he could to bring her back out.

So where will our favorite team of scientific investigative murderers be when we pick up with them again? Et exclusively caught up with the cast ahead of the June 5 season premiere, and it looks like we will find them exactly where we left them.

“We...

Stitchers, Hooperman and Dennis Hopper’s Colors: Jim Hemphill’s Home Video Recommendations
I’d like to kick this week’s column off with a pair of television recommendations: one a smart and stylish contemporary series that’s currently streaming, the other a retrospective pick on DVD that deserves to be better known. Stitchers puts an ingenious spin on one of the most shopworn of all television genres, the procedural, breathing new life into the form via an elegant visual style and audacious premise. The show follows Kirsten Clark (Emma Ishta), a Caltech student with a medical condition that wreaks havoc on her sense of time. It also makes her a desirable candidate for a covert […]...

Stitchers Renewed For Season 3!
Freeform's Stitchers is officially returning for another season.

The drama series stars Emma Ishta as Kirsten Clarke, a young woman who is enrolled on the Stitchers program.

As you probably already know, the Stitchers program is top secret and not very many people know about it.

The renewal is somewhat surprising.

The show concluded Season 2 way back in May.

It was also pushed to a later time period for Season 2, which resulted in the show averaging just under 400,000 viewers.

With Pretty Little Liars and Switched at Birth concluding, Freeform desperately needs some hit shows.

Guilt and Dead of Summer's fates have yet to be decided and are still up in the air, but if the network is settling for terrible ratings, then both shows might return in some form.

Freeform noted that the show's strong performance solidified its renewal.

“Stitchers‘ passionate fanbase has been vocal about wanting to see more of this show,...

Stitchers: Season Two Ratings
Last year, Stitchers was a moderate success for ABC Family (now Freeform) in the ratings. Will the numbers improve in season two or, will they fall? Cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned.

On Stitchers, a highly intelligent computer science grad student (Emma Ishta) is recruited into a covert government agency to be "stitched" into the minds of the recently deceased. Using their memories, she's able to help investigate murders and decipher mysteries that otherwise would have gone to the grave. The rest of the cast includes Kyle Harris, Ritesh Rajan, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, and Allison Scagliotti.

Stitchers Season 2 Review
Three episodes were provided prior to broadcast.

In a post-Hunger Games world, Stitchers, which returns to Freeform for its second season on March 22, should be hitting the jackpot. With a mythology that is part CSI and part Minority Report, as well as a heroine who is prickly, beautiful and destined to save the world, it seems as though the series is set to ride the wave that modern Ya fiction has created – right into the hearts of Freeform’s engaged teen viewers.

However, while the show might sound like a hit on paper, the result is a messy combination of ambiguous plot points and a tone that, unfortunately, talks down to its audience. There are plenty of examples of smart, mythology-heavy procedurals made for teens, but Stitchers just isn’t one of them.

For those of you new to the series, Stitchers centers on Kirsten Clark (Emma Ishta), a brilliant...
