Chicago Pd Star Lands Hailey Upton Replacement Role in New USA Crime Series
Image
Actor Tracy Spiridakos has booked her first major role since leaving Chicago P.D. last year. The actor played fan-favorite character Detective Hailey Upton across the One Chicago franchise for seven years.

According to Deadline, Spiridakos has been cast as the titular lead of the new USA Network series Anna Pigeon, based on the novel series of the same name by Nevada Barr. The forthcoming crime series will follow the titular former city slicker who becomes a park ranger after a devastating loss changed the trajectory of her life forever. While Anna tries to outrun her demons, her focus turns to solving crimes that have taken place within national park grounds, no matter who or what gets in her way.

Anna Pigeon has tapped Morwyn Brebner to serve as showrunner and Lea Thompson to direct. Both are also attached as executive producers. The crime drama will be the second new series from the USA Network,...

Law & Order will air alongside spin-offs Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as well as a first-time broadcast for Season 5 of Law & Order: Organized Crime, which initially aired exclusively on Peacock. Law & Order returns for a historic 25th season with Tony Goldwyn, Reid Scott, Hugh Dancy, Odelya Halevi, and Maura Tierney all expected to return. Not returning is Mechad Brooks, who played Detective Jalen Shaw. Season 24 left fans with a bombshell for Halevi's Ada Samantha Maroun as well as a crossroads for her and Dancy's Ada Nolan Price. Now, the pair have been spotted on set with production beginning last week.

New 'Chicago P.D.' Recruit Clocks in For Duty in New BTS Images
Image
Following Toya Turner's surprise departure from Chicago P.D. ahead of Season 13, the show has a replacement lined up. Arienne Mandi (The Night Agent) was cast as Naomi Kerr in the upcoming season and will play a major role. Series star Benjamin Levy Aguilar recently shared a post on his Instagram account revealing that Mandi was on the Chicago P.D. set, ready to bring Kerr to life. "Welcome to Chicago Ari muff! Cant [sic] wait for all of you to see her in action!" he captioned the post. The carousel shows one image of himself and Mandi smiling, while another shows the new addition on the trailer section of the production set.

Kerr is a former soldier and military contractor who is said to thrive in dangerous situations. She is a "fearless outsider who keeps her cards close to the vest." However, Deadline reported that these descriptions are tentative...

The Institute Season 1 Episode 4 Review: The Box
Image
Who’s ready for some more child torture?!

If you’re back from watching The Institute Season 1 Episode 4, your hand had better be raised.

The adults at the Institute are off the rails insane, but all hope isn’t lost. Tim may be coming to the rescue.

If you haven’t watched Episode 4 yet, step away and return later. Spoilers await!

(Chris Reardon/MGM+)

While watching “The Box,” it dawned on me how often Stephen King uses children’s pain as a story catalyst.

I know he’s got family of his own, and from what I can tell, Joe turned out alright. He inherited his father’s gift for storytelling, too.

Before Your Father Finds Us Review: Faith, Fury, and Maternal Instincts — Alexa PenaVega Goes Full Warrior!
Image
Alexa PenaVega takes center stage in Before Your Father Finds Us, the second film in Lifetime’s faith-based slate, which features powerful, strong women embracing their faith during challenging times.

Coming off the heels of the Faith in the Flames ripped-from-the-headlines films, this one, while not inspired by real events, still has a great deal of heart, and Sophia shows so much grit and gumption.

It results in an intense ordeal and equally as intense watch!

(Lifetime/Screenshot)

Thus far, Lifetime’s Faith slate has been light on the faith. It’s not a criticism, just an observation given that these stories were all meant to have this strong theme.

I’ve been surprised by how safe they’ve played it on that front. Here, we open and close with Sophia/Alex and her daughter in church, and there are two distinct moments when Sophia prays, but these moments also...

The Summer I Turned Pretty Exposes How Emotional Abuse Thrives in Silence
Image
While fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty love to debate Team Conrad vs. Team Jeremiah, there’s a darker, far more consequential character who deserves scrutiny — Adam Fisher.

Many were reacting viscerally to the messiness and fallout of Belly and Jeremiah’s engagement during The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Episode 3.

However, the hour pulled back the curtain on just how quietly destructive Adam’s emotional abuse has always been, and how it thrives primarily because he goes unchecked.

(Erika Doss/Prime Video) The Summer I Turned Pretty’s Real Villain Isn’t Who You Think

Emotional abuse is often tricky, especially when the perpetrator is a narcissistic parent.

People don’t always take cutting comments or biting remarks as seriously as they would physical harm.

It’s been fascinating to watch how deeply Adam Fisher’s emotional base influences so much of this series, given its profound impact...

Marlena being sick in “body, mind, and soul” is not a story I’m looking forward to.

Resident Alien Season 4 Episode 8 Review: Mine Town
Image
Humanity continues ruling Patience, even if it’s overrun with aliens. Resident Alien Season 4 Episode 8 reminded us that change is hard, family is complicated, and mantids are just the worst houseguests.

“Mine Town” is the kind of Resident Alien episode that crams in emotional gut punches, sci-fi reveals, and turkey legs the size of your head — while still making time for AA meetings, cocoon body horror, and Harry singing in a lake like an unholy Disney princess. I mean that with love.

Let’s get into it.

(James Dittiger/USA Network) Harry’s Just Out Here Vibing With His Powers and Oversharing Again

It’s delightful watching Harry fully enjoy having his alien powers back. He’s flying through the water like a delightful dolphin, cackling like a maniac, and threatening to blackmail Ben with details of his sex dreams.

This is Harry in his element — and his element is chaos.

Velasco’s Return Underscores How Badly Law & Order: Svu Treated Silva
Image
Mariska Hargitay’s recent sneak peek at the filming of Law & Order: Svu Season 27 Episode 1 included a surprise.

Velasco is back.

I’ve always been neutral on Velasco, and I thought he got a beautiful send-off. His return only makes me more upset about the way Law & Order: Svu treated Silva.

(Peter Kramer/NBC) Silva? Who’s That?

Kate Silva was supposed to be a permanent part of Benson’s team, but they utilized her so infrequently that many viewers are unfamiliar with her name.

She’s the woman who transferred in from Homicide, did very little for most of the season, had a few strong episodes, and disappeared without explanation.

Smoke Season 1 Episode 6 Review: Dave Hunts and Becomes the Hunted
Image
Some people thrive not because they’ve done anything to deserve it, but due to sheer luck. These kinds of people coast on life because a combination of factors has made them invincible to the life problems that we must all deal with.

Dave Gudsen has lived a lucky life. Despite being an absolute garbage human, he’s fortunate in many ways. He’s a white man, handsome, has a nice job, and a beautiful partner.

He even survives a grisly road accident by sheer luck. Smoke Season 1 Episode 5 is quite possibly the most revealing of the show for our two main arsonists.

(Robert Falconer/Apple TV+)

It connects Dave’s trip to the fire convection to the biggest clue that Dave is the arsonist in over 250 fires: he’s always been wherever a fire broke out.

Christopher Meloni’s New Role Better Not Mean Organized Crime Is Ending!
Image
Law & Order: Organized Crime star Christopher Meloni will star in Dan Fogelman’s upcoming Hulu drama.

I’m thrilled for him. Meloni is a great actor, and I’ve admired Fogelman since he produced This Is Us, so this will be a strong vehicle for both of them.

Still, Peacock has been silent about whether it will renew Law & Order: Organized Crime. Understandably, this new announcement has me worried.

(Virginia Sherwood/Peacock) Meloni’s New Role Doesn’t Necessarily Mean Organized Crime Is Done

Meloni has worked in more than one series at a time before. During Law & Order: Svu Season 1, he was also starring in HBO’s Oz.

Plus, Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5 only had 10 episodes and didn’t premiere until April.

If the newest season isn’t scheduled until almost a year from now, there’s no reason for Meloni to sit around waiting for work to begin.

Why Are TV Friendships So Bad Now?
Image
Remember when television friendships used to mean something?

When characters weren’t just coworkers or trauma buddies, but actual friends — people who chose each other, leaned on each other, and evolved together?

I miss those days. I need those friendships. Surely, I’m not alone.

(Courtesy of Netflix)

Now, most TV friendships feel like plot devices at best and emotional manipulation at worst. They’re written to serve plotlines, not characters.

One week they’re close, the next they’re at odds for no reason, and by the finale, we’re supposed to believe in a teary-eyed reunion that somehow fixes everything without ever addressing what went wrong.

Dexter: Resurrection Season 1 Episode 4 Review: Call Me Red
Image
This is the episode that offers a glimpse of a life Dexter could lead, embracing his dark side with a walk on the wild side, far from the code he knows so well.

Dexter is a father, and he is concerned with Harrison’s future, but the lure of a banded group of like-minded folks could prove impossible to resist.

As he says, “It’s a dinner party for serial killers. An all-you-can-eat buffet for the dark passenger.”

(Zach Dilgard/Paramount+ with Showtime)

As thrilled as Dexter was stepping into Red’s shoes, thankfully, a part of him couldn’t let go of the code.

We’re not out of the woods yet. When’s the last time we’ve seen Dexter so damn… happy? “Who’s got a fake print and passes for red? This guy,” he said with a hint of a smile hiding far greater glee.

Revival Season 1 Episode 7 Review: Too Many Secrets
Image
It’s right there in the title. “Too Many Secrets.” And at this point in Revival Season 1, it feels less like a dramatic theme and more like the writers reaching out of the TV and whispering, “Yeah, we know. You’ve been screaming this since Episode 2.”

And listen, I love a good secret. I live for a twisty reveal. But when you’re hoarding every backstory, withholding every flashback, and only trickling out the emotional weight after the audience is five steps ahead?

That’s not mystery — that’s a trust fall with no one standing behind you.

(Naomi Peters/Lavivier Productions/Syfy)

That said, I was in. This hour was the closest the show has come to threading the needle between mythology-building, character reckonings, and, yes, finally giving Dana a win.

And also — Ibrahim is officially the only man on this show who can stay calm, administer medical care,...

NCIS: Tony & Ziva Trailer Teases Romance, Chaos, and Gen X Snark
Image
Tony and Ziva are back — and so is the tension, the banter, and the chaos.

Paramount+ dropped the official trailer for NCIS: Tony & Ziva at San Diego Comic-Con, giving longtime fans a first look at the highly anticipated spinoff that brings the fan-favorite duo back into action.

And if the trailer is anything to go by, this isn’t just a nostalgic reunion — it’s a wild ride through Europe with assassins, disguises, killer cars, and more than a few unresolved feelings.

(Marcell Piti/Paramount+)

Set years after Ziva’s “death” and eventual return, the series picks up with the couple raising their daughter, Tali, in Paris — though not quite as a couple.

When Tony’s security firm is attacked, the trio is thrust into a cross-continental chase full of espionage, explosions, and a romantic comedy flair that would make any undercover mission blush.

Will & Angie Always Show Up for Each Other on Will Trent — Romance or Not
Image
Recently, platonic pairings have trended, and sometimes, couples make better friends than romantic partners.

Will Trent and Angie Polaski have become one of those. While I was an avid shipper of them, I prefer them as best friends who would do anything for each other, rather than polite co-workers after their breakup.

The beginning of Will Trent Season 3 had the duo broken up and awkwardly running into each other on a case. They confronted each other and agreed to be civil at work, which allowed them to both move on.

(Zac Popik/Disney)

While Will and Angie began dating other people, they still turned to each other when they were in a crisis. There’s something to be said about knowing each other since childhood and not having to reveal your darkest secrets.

While they won’t be getting back together, their partners will have to adjust to their long-standing...

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Proves Belly Should Choose Herself
Image
First, I have to give The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Episode 3 a round of applause for simply being one of the messiest installments of the series to date.

The series is running full-speed ahead into the love triangle messiness, and it has spilled over into every aspect of our central trio’s world.

And this entire third season seems deadset on not letting Belly and Jeremiah have a single moment of unadulterated joy that doesn’t come with a caveat.

(Erika Doss/Amazon)

Because they don’t have a single person in their lives who is on their side, and neither of them is emotionally mature enough to navigate the difficulties they face in this relationship.

Oh, yeah, and one look at Conrad again, and good old Bells damn near stopped in her tracks, slack-jawed, and you could feel all the feelings that she carries for him rushing back to the surface.

The Latest Little House on the Prairie Casting May Have Changed My Mind
Image
Everyone knows how I felt about Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie reboot when it was first announced. The long and short of it being, “why are they trying to ruin my childhood?”

I grew up on the original Little House on the Prairie. It was part of my childhood. It wasn’t easy to imagine anything being as wonderful as it was

However, the latest casting and news have me rethinking my skepticism, and maybe there is room for a different take on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books.

(Eric Zachanowich/Netflix) Having Some Well-Known Actors Could Entice Viewers

Initially, the Ingalls Family casting news didn’t sell me. The girls were the best part of it, and I wish they had hired more well-known actors for Charles and Caroline.

Maybe it’s me, but I hadn’t heard of Luke Bracey or Crosby Fitzgerald before.

'Chicago P.D.' Season 13 Recruits 'The Night Agent' Star as Intelligence Unit's Newest Member
Image
The Intelligence Unit has gained a new asset. Following Toya Turner’s surprise departure as Officer Kiana Cook after Chicago P.D.Season 12, a new report confirms that her replacement has been named as the upcoming season approaches. Arienne Mandi, most recently seen in The Night Agent Season 2, is joining Chicago P.D. as a series regular. After Turner’s exit, reports indicated that the show was searching for a “loose cannon” character with a military background — a search that ultimately led to Mandi’s casting. She brings plenty of procedural experience to the role, with credits in NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, and Hawaii Five-o. Mandi is also no stranger to the Dick Wolf universe, having recently appeared inFBI Season 7.

Mandi will play a Chicago P.D. officer named Naomi Kerr, described as a former soldier and military contractor who thrives in high-pressure and dangerous situations. She is characterized as a...

Countdown Season 1 Episode 7 Goes Off
Image
This is the episode of Countdown that I’ve been waiting for. It is the one that changes everything and justifies all the time we’ve invested in this story.

It’s no secret that I haven’t enjoyed the last couple of episodes of Countdown Season 1. They have felt stagnant, and the story has not been progressing in any direction, as the team continues to do more of the same with disappointing results.

As we’ve discussed in previous Countdown reviews, that has affected the show.

However, even bad things can serve as a lesson, and Countdown Season 1 Episode 7 takes all the bad things that have happened and uses them for good.

The episode embodies self-awareness.

Why Is TV So Dark … Literally?
Image
As a disclaimer, my vision is already abhorrent.

A combination of bad genetics and too much time spent reading novels between street lights during car rides didn’t give me the best head start. Once we got into an era of tiny screens and handheld computers at our beck and call, taking us from one glowing screen to the next? Well, my eyeballs were destined to screw me over.

But this isn’t about my crappy vision, it’s about the medium. So, let’s dim the lights and — oh wait, we don’t have to, because TV already did it for us!

(Ollie Upton/HBO)

For me, the phenomenon and my really noticing it started with Teen Wolf.

I’m pretty certain all of Teen Wolf was illuminated by a single dusty 40-watt warm light bulb and the sheen from everyone’s abs.

Did someone just get bitten? I don’t know.

The Hunting Wives Cast: Where Have You Seen Them Before?
Image
The Hunting Wives has officially taken over everyone’s watchlist.

With its mix of sultry social drama, small-town secrets, and a murder that sends shockwaves through East Texas, it’s the kind of guilty pleasure that doesn’t even try to be guilty.

But what really makes it pop is the cast — a juicy blend of familiar TV faces, movie vets, and rising stars.

(Lionsgate/Netflix Screenshot)

The biggest surprise for me — outside of the murder, obviously — was what I didn’t find when I went looking for press assets. Nothing. Not a single production still or cast bio on Netflix’s press site. That feels about as “modern Netflix” as it gets.

The Hunting Wives was acquired from Lionsgate following the Starz sale, and like so many shows caught in the streaming swirl of licensing limbo, it got dropped on a random Monday with no real promotion. Just… poof.

If you’ve been following along, it feels like a revolving door of character exits and cast departures within the Dick Wolf Universe across two networks and three franchises. You’d know that, much to our chagrin, Toya Turner departed the series after one season as Kiana Cook.

We still lack clarity regarding the abrupt exit with no proper sendoff. It could be anything from more cost-cutting measures to the ever-elusive “creative decision.”

Arienne Mandi Joins ‘Chicago P.D.’ Season 13 After Toya Turner’s Exit
Image
Voight’s unit is (seemingly) growing once again. Arienne Mandi has been cast as a new series regular on the upcoming Season 13 of “Chicago P.D.”

Mandi was most recently seen in Season 2 of Netflix’s “The Night Agent,” playing Noor Taheri, and stars in Guy Nattiv’s feature “Tatami,” which premiered at the Venice Film Festival. She previously played the lead character Dani Núñez in “The L Word: Generation Q.” She’s not completely new to the Dick Wolf universe, having popped up on one episode of “FBI” in 2025.

Arienne Mandi Joins ‘Chicago P.D.’ For Season 13 As New Series Regular
Image
Arienne Mandi (The Night Agent) has joined the cast of Chicago P.D. as a series regular for Season 13.

Chicago Pd season 13 adds The Night Agent star in major role
Image
When one door closes, another one opens. Or in the case of Chicago Pd, when one officer’s watch ends, another’s begins. Chicago Pd has added a star from one of Netflix's biggest shows, tapping a key star of The Night Agent for a major role in season 13!

As first reported by Deadline, Chicago Pd has welcomed Arienne Mandi to the cast of season 13 in what is being described as a series regular role.

While Mandi’s character information could change, she is currently attached to play Chicago P.D. officer Naomi Kerr. Officer Kerr is a former soldier and military contractor who has a knack for thriving in dangerous situations, something we’re sure is going to help her thrive on the Intelligence Unit, which is known for being thrust into dangerous situations.

Interestingly, she’s also described as being a “fearless outsider,” known for keeping things close to her vest.

The Voice Is Getting a Makeover — And It’s Looking Fierce
Image
In a move that should surprise absolutely no one who’s been paying attention to the broadcast landscape, The Voice is shaking things up in a big way — and honestly, it’s about time.

Season 29, debuting in Spring 2026, is getting a full-on rebrand: The Voice: Battle of Champions. Sounds intense, right?

Well… it kind of is.

(Tyler Golden/NBC)

Let’s start with the headline: Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Adam Levine are all coming back — and not just as your typical rotating red-chair occupants.

These three are the only coaches in The Voice‘s long history who have actually won the whole damn thing. So NBC looked around and said, “Hey, what if we built a whole season around winners?” Revolutionary!

Another Day, Another Law & Order Cast Change…Why Should We Invest?
Image
We all know that the Dick Wolf Universe has made several casting changes lately, but it seems like Law & Order gets affected every season.

Since the series returned in 2022, it has undergone numerous cast changes, making it challenging for viewers to invest in the series or the characters.

On Friday, NBC announced that Mehcad Brooks would not be returning to Law & Order as Det. Jalen Shaw.

(Virginia Sherwood/NBC)

Brooks portrayed Det. Shaw, since Law & Order Season 22, after Anthony Anderson left.

He was a breath of fresh air on the series since he tried to show compassion.

Ozzy Osbourne Dead at 76: The Prince of Darkness Who Rocked Our World and Changed Reality TV Forever
Image
It’s the end of an era. Ozzy Osbourne, the indelible icon of heavy metal and chaotic brilliance, has died at the age of 76, just weeks after taking what would become his final bow on stage.

Whether you knew him as the bat-biting frontman of Black Sabbath, the mumbling but lovable dad from The Osbournes, or simply as Ozzy, the man was larger than life — and he never stopped being himself, no matter how outrageous that self could be.

(Ozzy Osbourne Youtube Channel/Screenshot)

Born John Michael Osbourne in Birmingham, England, Ozzy first found fame in the late ’60s as the lead singer of Black Sabbath, arguably the band that invented heavy metal.

With their dark, sludgy sound and anti-establishment attitude, Sabbath paved the way for everything from Metallica to Slipknot.

Ozzy’s voice — nasal, haunting, and unmistakable — was the soul of their menace and the heart of their rebellion.

The Tracy Morgan/Daniel Radcliffe comedy The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, which already has a series order, is also in the mix to claim a time slot, while an untitled project from Sierra Teller Ornelas (Rutherford Falls, Superstore, Brooklyn Nine-Nine), set at a Native American community center,...

Black Royalty: Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s Legacy — When a Cultural Icon Feels Like Family
Image
I’ve always believed that people should live their lives in such a way that the world feels less bright when they’re gone.

And that’s precisely what it feels like after the sudden and tragic death of the wonderfully talented actor, artist, director, musician, poet, and family man Malcolm-Jamal Warner.

Because a true testament of one’s impact is in the indelible mark they can leave when they’re gone on those who don’t even know them.

(Fox/Guy D’elema)

I found out about Warner’s death via text message, like many in this day and age. But it’s the flood of texts and phone calls that ensued after that which really captured the unique concept of losing a public figure so revered by a community that they feel like anything but.

Cousins I haven’t spoken to in months reached out to ask if I had heard about Malcolm.

The Pitt season 2 casts new series regular as Dr. Robby's fellow attending physician
Image
Noah Wyle’s Dr. Robby will have another attending physician in the ER in The Pitt season 2. The L Word: Generation Q’s Sepideh Moafi has joined the series.

The second season was ordered around a month after The Pitt started on HBO. With the success of the medical drama, it wasn’t that surprising, but it’s always great to hear that we’ll get more to the story. Filming has already started, and it will take place over a holiday weekend: July 4 to be exact.

Who will Sepideh Moafi play in The Pitt season 2?

Very little has been shared about the new role. Variety reports that Moafi will play an attending physician in the ER, but it’s not clear if she will be new to the hospital as a whole or just someone else on shift. After all, with the series only focusing on one 15-hour shift,...

Israel’s Guy Nattiv and Iran’s Zar Amir on Releasing Co-Directed ‘Tatami’ in the U.S. Amid Conflict: ‘We Need This Friendship More Than Ever’
Image
“We are not our governments,” says Israel’s Guy Nattiv, who co-directed the politically charged sports thriller “Tatami” with Iran’s Zar Amir. Originally premiering at Venice in 2023, the film opened in American movie theaters on June 13 as Israel attacked Iran, starting a war — also involving the U.S. — that now appears to have been halted by a fragile truce.

Amir, who won the Cannes best actress award in 2022 for “Holy Spider,” stars in “Tatami” as the coach of an Iranian judo athlete named Leila (played by Arienne Mandi). The Iranian regime gives her an ultimatum, demanding that she fake an injury and withdraw from the Judo World Championships rather than face an Israeli rival in the final.

Marking the first collaboration between directors from Israel and Iran, Nattiv approached Amir to act in the film before she became more involved, driven by her desire to make the details fully authentic.

Tatami Review: Shot in Stark, Unflinching Black and White
Image
In the high-stakes arena of the Judo World Championship in Tbilisi, Georgia, a sports drama unfolds with the familiar beats of an underdog story. Iranian judoka Leila is a dominant force on the mat, systematically advancing with a ferocity that puts her country’s first-ever gold medal within reach.

Supported by her coach, Maryam, herself a former competitor, Leila’s ambition seems pure and attainable. The film quickly pivots, however, when this narrative of personal achievement collides with a geopolitical mandate.

An order arrives from the Iranian government: Leila must feign an injury and withdraw. Her potential path to victory would require her to face an Israeli athlete, a contest forbidden by her state. This directive transforms the story from a competition of physical skill into a harrowing confrontation between an individual’s will and an authoritarian regime’s control.

The sports complex, once a stage for global competition,...

Tatami

Tatami, co-directed by Israeli filmmaker Guy Nattiv and Iranian actress and director Zar Amir Ebrahimi, centres on Leila (Arienne Mandi), an Iranian judo athlete who arrives to compete at the Judo World Championships. As the tournament unfolds, the Iranian Judo Federation are eager to avoid a potential contest with Leila's Israeli rival in the final, and so they instruct her to fake an injury and to pull out of the championships.

Leila refuses and as the pressure mounts, the Iranian team coach, Maryam (Zar Amir Ebrahimi), implores her fighter to see reason. Despite the intimidation of her teammates and the Iranian Federation, who threaten her parents, husband and young child back home in Iran, Leila is steadfast in her refusal to compromise both her integrity and her dream of a medal.
