Kanye West's latest bad idea: letting an 18-year-old trail him with an iPhone for six years for an "unfiltered" documentary about the rapper. Following years of controversy surrounding antisemitic statements, allegations of sexual misconduct and harassment, and failed business partnerships (to name but a few), West a.k.a. Ye is releasing a documentary that explores his "public transformation."
Per Variety, distributors Goodfellas and Utopia are previewing the doc, titled In Whose Name?, next week at the American Film Market in the hopes of securing international distribution. The doc was directed by Nicolas Ballesteros, who followed West around with an iPhone over the course of six years to capture "a unique and cinematic perspective on Yes public transformation."

First footage of mysterious bio-doc In Whose Name?, promising a fresh perspective on Kanye West’s public transformation over the past six years, including his decision to officially change his name to Ye in 2021, will be unveiled at the upcoming AFM.
Goodfellas and Utopia, who have co-acquired sales rights, have released a first-look image from the work, ahead of screening a first promo to buyers at the market in Las Vegas, with the title already sparking buzz.
Per the release on the AFM splash, the film follows the American rapper, record producer, singer, songwriter, and fashion designer’s ascent to becoming the richest Black man in American history while uncovering why the superstar risked everything he had built in the name of freedom.

Entitled “In Whose Name?,” the project has been shooting for the last six years, features never-before-seen footage and, according to its description, “promises to offer a unique and cinematic perspective on Ye’s public transformation.” (West changed his name to Ye in 2021.)
Goodfellas and Utopia will join forces to launch international sales of “In Whose Name?” at the American Film Market, with an exclusive promo reel screening on Nov. 7.
