San Diego Comic-Con badge holders will be the first to watch the first two Twisted Metal season two episodes. Per a release date teaser on Thursday, Season 2 will debut on July 31. The teaser, embedded below, doesn’t give away much more about the season than had already been revealed in previous trailers, but we know that Raven (Neve Campbell) has been grooming Anthony Mackie’s John Doe for the sinister Twisted Metal Tournament — which looks to be about as lovely as it sounds.

Season 2 of Twisted Metal has recently completed filming, and star Anthony Mackie has been teasing that the action-packed return of the Peacock series is going to see "a lot of sh-t” get blown up in the name of entertainment. For fans of the video game adaptation, this is exactly the kind of thing they have been waiting to hear.

Twisted Metal debuted on Peacock in 2023 with an incredibly impressive viewership, quickly becoming the most binged original series in the streamer’s history at the time. This was not the only success the series had, as alongside a so-so 67% Tomatometer score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, the show landed a huge 93% from audiences, putting it among some of the best video game adaptations ever.

With those stats backing it up, a renewal was quick in coming, and after several production updates, Mackie has now further hyped the upcoming return of the Playstation franchise adaptation.

Twisted Metal season 2 wraps filming, with co-creator Michael Jonathan Smith sharing new photos to commemorate the occasion. The ten-episode adaptation of the popular video game franchise was developed by Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, alongside Smith as showrunner. The story follows John Doe (Anthony Mackie), a mostly cheerful delivery man living in a post-apocalyptic wasteland who's tasked with a dangerous mission. This is revealed to be the prelude to the deadly tournaments, which will come into focus during Twisted Metal season 2.

Taking to Instagram, Smith revealed that filming on the show's second installment has been completed. The co-creator included a caption, writing in part: Thats a wrap on production of Twisted Metal s2! Enjoy these non-spoiler pictures, including me watching our final shot of the season. The post, included below, features a chair with a logo of the series and a look at Sweet Tooth's transportation of choice.
