"Wild forest, birds, trees, and wind." This short film is going to give you some serious chills. Blackwood is a new horror short film from Australia, made by production studio The Pixel Kitchen based in Melbourne, written and directed by filmmaker Andrew Montague. The short follows a sound recordist named Nikki, who tries to discover the source of a mysterious sound whilst she is out recording on location in a forest. Just watch without knowing anything else. Starring Danielle Butlin as Nikki. This is a clever concept for a short, and it's an impressively scary film, pulling off some real chills without much. This is definitely worth a watch. In horror movies, it's not always what you see among the trees that can scare you, it's also what you hear... or worse yet, what you hope you didn't hear. Carrying a portable field mixer while working on a horror movie in the woods, sound recordist Nikki (Danielle Butlin) picks up more than just the noises of Mother Nature in Andrew Montague's Blackwood, which you can now watch in its entirety right here on Daily Dead!

Written and directed by Montague, Blackwood premiered at Monster Fest in Australia, the same country in which it was filmed. Blackwood stars Danielle Butlin, Alanah Parkin, Jim Koutsoukos, and Rowan Howard, with creature design by Torstein Nordstrand and creature animation by Daniel Fotheringham.

The first streaming service dedicated exclusively to Australian films will launch in the first half of 2016. Ozflix will aim to offer 250-400 titles initially, with producers receiving 50 per cent of each pay-per-view transaction.
