Eric Aghimien is an independent filmmaker, born in Benin City, Edo state, Nigeria. He is a writer, Producer, Director and Editor.
He obtained National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology in 2005 from Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State, Nigeria.
He started his movie making career in 2007, in a Computer training school where he learnt computer usage, graphic design and video editing. While in the school, he got his hand on "Complete Film Production Handbook" which he read extensively. He continued his training on internet via Google.
In 2011, He made an experimental short film titled Hektor which was nominated for Best use of special effect and Best Actor in the 2012 International Short Film Festival.
His first feature, "A Mile From Home', in 2013 was rated second on Jara, Africa Magic, DSTV top five movie countdown behind 'Half of a Yellow Sun. The movie got him a nomination for Best Lighting Designer and won Best Actor in Drama for Tope Tedela, in the 2014 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA). The movie also got Eric an award for Achievement in Visual Effect in the 2014 Africa Movies Academy Awards (AMAA).
Eric had the opportunity to study filmmaking professionally for the first time, at Del-york Creative Academy Workshop, through a Federal Government scholarship program in July 2014.
