Deacon Burns is one half of an husband and wife Cleveland Heights' Alternative Punk-Hop act called Kounterclockwise! They formed over a decade ago in the heart of the South Bronx. From New York City, Kaya Rogue (Co-Producer, Co-Writer, Engineer, Singer, & Musician) and Cleveland native Deacon Burns (MC, Producer, Songwriter, Musician and Engineer) quickly developed their skills while doing production work for several artists including DJ Swamp and Yela Wolf. Deacon Burns has also scored the music for a full-length feature film; Love Rome by Carter B. Smith and Kounterclockwise scored the music for there own full length animated film; "Kounterclockwise In Forever-Land" plus Deacon Burns and Jim Lujan produced the music for the NEW Bill Plympton and Jim Lujan film "Revengeance" Starring Kaya Rogue from Kounterclockwise as Odell
But back In 2007, as the group was courted by several indie & major labels; fate took a wrong turn when Deacon had a tragic accident - breaking 5 vertebrae, several ribs, collapsed both lungs and had a hairline neck fracture. He suffered a severe spinal cord injury that resulted in paralysis of both legs. As a true entertainer, Deacon decided that the show must go on no matter what. He spent his entire recovery time writing songs, accumulating an impressive catalogue of over 150.
Deacon is a music aficionado whose influences vary from Nine Inch Nails to Ol Dirty Bastard. He plays multiple instruments (guitar, bass, ASR10 and an MPC 2000XL), is a gifted producer & songwriter, and even directs & edits videos . Kaya also plays multiple instruments (guitar, bass, and keyboards), is a singer & sound-engineer, and assists Deacon in both music and video production.
It's been a long time coming for Kounterclockwise since 2011 they've released a debut album "Daylight Savings Time" put out over 11 music videos wrote and starred in a full length animated film and produced the music for the soundtrack. They've also done voice over work and produced music for three of Jim Lujan's animated projects "Sanjourno Must Die", "The Legend Of Bobby Churro The extended version" and Master Melvin winner of the Best Independent Animators Award at the AAI film festival, all three out now on dvd and youtube.
