Sarah Michelle Gellar is getting ready to slay, and so is the new slayer — Ryan Kiera Armstrong.
The “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” actress, who is set to star in the series reboot, posted a video to her social media of the two training at a gym in preparation to take on the vampire-slaying roles. Gellar wrote, “Warrior 1 and 2 We don’t sweat … we sparkle.”
In the video, Gellar can be seen doing squats on a half exercise ball, doing Trx pulls and much more. And Armstrong is right by her side.
As previously announced, Armstrong was cast in a lead role in the pilot opposite returning star Gellar.

Almost seven years ago, it was announced that a reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer was in development with Monica Owusu-Breen, co-creator of the TV show Midnight, Texas, writing, executive producing, and serving as showrunner. It was said that the new show would be “contemporary, building on the mythology of the original.” That project never made it into production – and earlier this year, it was revealed that we’re going to be getting a Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival instead, with Sarah Michelle Gellar returning to the role of Buffy Summers and Chloé Zhao directing the first episode. Since then, teenage actress Ryan Kiera Armstrong (Firestarter) has been cast as a new slayer (an introverted high school student named Nova), and now, Deadline reports that Kingston Vernes (The Survivor) has been cast as Nova’s crush, Carson.

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot has added a love interest for the show's new Slayer. The '90s fantasy drama series starred Sarah Michelle Gellar as the titular Slayer, Buffy Summers, a teenage girl destined to battle vampires. The show became a cult hit and is regarded as one of the greatest TV shows of all time.
A sequel series received a pilot order at Hulu, although it has not been picked up to series yet, and Ryan Kiera Armstrong was cast in the lead role. Earlier this year, it was announced that Gellar will return for the Buffy revival in a recurring role, and the show has recently made another addition to its cast of characters.
Per Deadline, Kingston Vernes will guest star in the pilot episode of Hulu's Buffy reboot, with the expectation of being a major recurring role if the pilot goes to series. He will play the role of Carson,...

The Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot is moving forward and the new cast includes a familiar face for fans of Severance. More on the show below.
Whether or not we need it, the Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot/sequel series is definitely on the way. Buffy herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar, recently shared a photo of a roundtable read of the new series, confirming that this isn’t just a dream. Our favourite Slayer really is returning to our screens.
The new series will star Ryan Kiera Armstrong as a new Slayer while Gellar is set to return as Buffy, presumably as a mentor of sorts for Armstrong’s character. Official plot details are still being kept secret but more cast members have joined the project.
As Variety details, Faly Rakotohavana, Ava Jean, Sarah Bock, Daniel di Tomasso, and Jack Cutmore-Scott have all joined the show. Bock will be a familiar...

The reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer seems to have rounded out its regular cast members, but the news is not exactly what fans really want to know about the new series reviving the 90s series.
Previously, it was announced that Gellar would be returning to her role as Buffy Summers and will be playing a mentor to the next generation of slayer, who will be played by Star Wars actress Ryan Kiera Armstong. The latest round of casting has added Severance star Sarah Bock as Gracie, Law & Order: SUV’s Ava Jean as Larkin, and Raven’s Home actor Faly Rakotohavana as Hugo, seemingly making up the new “Scooby Gang.”
The regular cast is rounded out by Jack Cutmore-Scott, who recently played Kelsey Grammer’s son in Frasier, as Mr. Burke – a possible replacement for Anthony Stewart Head’s Giles – and Daniel di Tomasso as a character called Abe. While...

Could this be the official last call for Frasier? While the sitcom reboot was canceled by Paramount+ after two seasons earlier this year, series star Kelsey Grammer announced plans to shop the series around to other networks and streamers to find a new home for season 3. However, that was months ago and there still isn't word on Frasier getting a second chance.
Most recently, TV Line shared that "there is still nothing to report" after over six months and counting since Frasier got the boot from Paramount+. To make the chances of the revival's revival even worse, the sitcom's stars are starting to move on, with one of them landing a major role in the potential Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot series that's in the works at Hulu.

Dr. Crane's last show might really have been his last, even in spite of Frasier star Kelsey Grammer insisting the reboot series will find a new home for season 3.
After season 2 finished airing in November 2024, Paramount+ revealed that the Frasier revival series was officially canceled after two seasons in January 2025. However, Grammer wasn't taking the cancellation as the end of the road for his iconic character. He spoke in multiple interviews that he believed that the revival had been mishandled and under-promoted by Paramount+.
Grammer shared his intention to find a new home for a potential season 3 and seemed incredibly confident that he would be able to do so. By April, there still hadn't been a positive update about another streaming service or network saving the show, and now in July 2025, over six months after the show was originally canceled, the latest update might be the worst yet.

It’s been more than six months since Paramount+ rebooted the classic Cheers spinoff, Frasier. The revival premiered 30 years after the original Frasier debuted on NBC. While the show was a ratings juggernaut in its heyday,Frasier is currently slipping down on the streaming charts.
Per FlixPatrol, Frasier, which streams on Paramount+, currently holds the sixth spot in Paramount+’s Top 10 television shows as of July 4. It’s down a spot from number five earlier this week. Unfortunately, it's the season for television show cancellations, and we're going to start hearing about a lot of them. The broadcast networks will be pruning their lineups to make way for the new fall schedules, a process that has already begun. But over in the streaming world, that process happens year round, not just in May. So far, there have been a number of cancellations in 2025.
It's not all bad news, though. Plenty of streaming shows have already been renewed for new seasons this year, like Severance, Running Point, The Studio, School Spirits, Paradise, and more. Many streaming favorites are still awaiting word on their fates, but for some unlucky shows, their fates have already been decided... and it's not good news.

The Frasierrevival may have been cancelled at Paramount+, but if it finds a new home, Frasier Crane may just get a visit from his long-lost brother. David Hyde Pierce, who played Niles Crane on all eleven seasons of Frasier's original run, is open to a guest appearance on the series. Varietyreports that although Pierce turned down a regular role on the series, he'd be happy to drop in on Frasier's new Boston abode.
The series, which debuted in 2023 and ran for two seasons before Paramount+ cancelled it earlier this year, had Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) relocate to Boston to be closer to his firefighter son, Frederick (Jack Cutmore-Scott), in the wake of his father Martin's death. Several Frasier supporting and recurring characters have made appearances on the series, including Roz Doyle (Peri Gilpin), Lilith Sternin (Bebe Neuwirth), Bob "Bulldog" Briscoe (Dan Butler), and Bebe Glazer (Harriet Sansom Harris), but Niles, who...

Frasier Crane might never learn what to do with those tossed salads and scrambled eggs at this point. The iconic sitcom character returned in 2023, about 30 years since the original Frasier's premiere on NBC and nearly 20 since its ending, for a Paramount+ revival series.
Unfortunately, the revival wasn't able to match the success of its Emmy-winning predecessor and was canceled after two seasons. But even though the series was axed, that didn't mean it was necessarily the end of the road.
Kelsey Grammer was confident at the time of the revival's cancellation that he and CBS Studios, the show's production company, would be able to shop the series to other networks and streamers to find a fruitful new home.
Frasier still hasn't found a new streaming home

The fate of the Frasier reboot remains unclear two months after Paramount+ canceled the new-age edition of the Kelsey Grammer-led sitcom. However, while producers try to find a new home for the revival, the original series becomes a hit on its streaming service, proving Dr. Crane's everlasting appeal to fans.
Per Flix Patrol, the Og Frasier has become a hit on Paramount+, ranking ninth on the streamer's Top 10 charts in the United States. The series is just above the 2023 supernatural teen drama series, School Spirits, in 10th place. Meanwhile, Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone spinoff, 1923, tops the list.
Frasier remains one of the most beloved comedies and successful spinoffs in history, with the series chronicling the titular radio psychiatrist who fans became familiar with during its parent show, Cheers. If the Frasier reboot continues, star and producer Kelsey Grammer believes an on-screen reunion is possible between him and his Cheers castmate Ted Danson in his rebooted sitcom. However, Grammer insists this won't lead to a Cheers reboot as he gives a definitive update on the hit parent series.
Speaking with the New York Post, Grammer explored the possibilities of a third season of his Frasier reboot, should it find a new home after its Paramount+ cancelation in January. According to Grammer, who claimed it's "very possible" the series will continue elsewhere, he suggested Danson could appear in Season 3 after the duo's recent public burial of the hatchet following their Cheers fallout. “Ted and I might visit actually something together,” Grammer said. “We’ve been talking about a couple ideas. Maybe on Frasier. We don’t know.” However, Grammer stated that "there’s certainly still some fields to be mined...

Acclaimed actor Kelsey Grammer believes there are plenty more tossed salads and scrambled eggs left to cook up as he provides a hopeful update about his canceled Frasier reboot. The lead actor and producer of the revived sitcom is confident that a third season of the revived show will happen and calls out Paramount for putting the series on the chopping block.
Speaking with the New York Post, Grammer addressed the status of the Frasier reboot, which Paramount canceled this past January after two seasons. Grammer stated he's "very positive" the series will air again. However, Grammer clarified his feelings about Paramount's treatment of the show, suggesting changing leadership led to the studio not treating it with the care it deserved, including a lack of marketing.

Kelsey Grammer remains determined to bring Dr. Frasier Crane back to the screen, even after the Paramount+ cancelation of the Frasier revival. Grammer's iconic Dr. Crane returned with the anticipated follow-up series that premiered back in October 2023. The series saw Frasier back in Boston (the city audiences first met the quirky doctor through Cheers), following the death of his father and the demise of a 20-year relationship. This time around, Grammer was surrounded by an all-new cast. After a two-season run, the streamer canceled the revival.
Grammer believes that Paramount didn't properly promote the series, which, in turn, reflected a lack of passion from the streamer. In an interview with the New York Post, he shared:

Kelsey Grammer is confident his Frasier revival with CBS Studios will find a new home, and teased Ted Danson could be involved in a potential Season 3.
Grammer, who reprised the titular role in the Paramount+ series, revealed that the project had been passed between executives and ended up in hands less passionate than that of the original executive who shepherded the project.
“The fellow that worked at Paramount Plus when we first sold the show there left, and so it sort of fell into their laps, the next administration, without having any real conscious and what to do with it. So I think they gave it sort of a good try, but they weren’t particularly passionate about the project,” he told the New York Post in a recent interview.
He also teased that a third season could include Danson, his former co-star on Cheers, the show where the Frasier character was born.

Against all odds, a show that many fans never thought to see return was Frasier. It had been almost twenty years since the series finale in 2004, and yet Kelsey Grammer returned to the role in 2023 for a reboot brought to audiences by Paramount+.
Unfortunately, after only twenty episodes, the show was unceremoniously canceled. Fans were disappointed, especially due to the fact that the reboot felt right at home with the original series. Although the locations and characters were different, audiences felt like the reboot was just like classic Frasier. Even though the show won't continue, fans can still enjoy their best episodes.

For three decades and two iterations, Frasier remains the one show fans cherish when thinking about Kelsey Grammer. However, Grammer reveals that if it hadn't been for the intervention of Paramount's boss, he would have gone in a different direction after his Cheers run ended.
During an interview on NPR's Bullseye with Jesse Thorn, Grammer confirmed he wasn't eyeing a Cheers spinoff featuring Dr. Crane after the hit series' conclusion. Instead, Grammer pitched a pilot to then-Paramount president John Pike chronicling a Malcolm Forbes-like media mogul who was paralyzed from the waist down following a serious accident and befriended his physical therapist during recovery. Though Grammer thought it "was time to let Frasier go," and felt the pilot script was "pretty funny," Pike rejected the idea, believing a Frasier spinoff had promise given how well fans connected with his Cheers character. Pike bluntly told Grammer, “Kelsey, I think a sitcom should befunny,...

Though the Frasier reboot remains in limbo after its recent cancelation by Paramount Studios, the sitcom's breakout star is optimistic it will continue elsewhere. Star Nicholas Lyndhurst remains all-in on the revival series, hoping the show gets a third season on a new streamer or network.
Via The Sun, Lyndhurst, who stars as Alan Cornwall in the Frasier reboot, sees strong potential in the show, with sources close to the actor keeping positive that another outlet will acquire it given the foundations the first two seasons laid. “The early episodes were a little shaky but they improved very quickly," the source said. "It takes time for the writers and actors playing the characters to really interact, and the second series saw that begin to pay off."

The iconic Frasier returned to TV in 2023 with a revival series on Paramount+, bringing back everyone’s favorite radio psychiatrist. However, this reboot took a new approach, setting itself apart from the original that charmed audiences for 11 seasons until its conclusion in 2004.
While critics offered mixed reviews, one thing was universally admired and that was Kelsey Grammer’s return as the titular Frasier Crane. It’s like he never left! Grammer effortlessly stepped back into his role, delivering witty lines with impeccable timing. He has the same magnetic charm fans adored decades ago.

Paramount+ has cancelled the revived version of Frasier after two series. The show is now being shopped to other networks.
Frasier is undoubtably one of the most beloved American sitcoms of all time. Spun-off from Cheers, itself an 11 season American institution, Frasier had some of the wittiest writing on television, elevated by the magnificent casting of David Hyde Pierce as Frasier’s equally fastidious brother Niles.
Along with the much missed John Mahoney as their dad, Martin, Jane Leeves as housekeeper Daphne Moon and Peri Gilpin as acerbic producer Roz Doyle, over 11 seasons the show became embedded in American culture.
According to Deadline, Paramount+ has decided not to move forward with a third series. One of the reasons given is that the show “could not break through in a major way on Paramount+”.
However, the creative team are shopping the show to other networks. There may yet be a future for the show.

Frasier Crane will once again be looking for a new home.
Paramount+ says it won’t go ahead with a third season of Frasier, its revival of the Must See TV-era NBC comedy starring Kelsey Grammer. The news comes two months after the show’s second season concluded.
CBS Studios, which produces the show, says it will look to find a new home for Frasier, which follows Dr. Frasier Crane (Grammer) as he returns to Boston and takes a teaching post at Harvard in order to forge a better relationship with his now-adult son Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott). Nicholas Lyndhurst, Toks Olagundoye, Jess Salguiero and Anders Keith also star; Frasier alumni Peri Gilpin, Bebe Neuwirth, Harriet Sansom Harris, Dan Butler and Edward Hibbert have made guest appearances.
The first rumblings of a Frasier revival came in early 2021; Paramount+ gave it a series order in October 2022, and it premiered a year later.

A major update has been revealed for the future of the Frasier revival series on Paramount+. Unfortunately, it's very bad news for fans of the show.
Per Deadline, it has been revealed that Paramount+ is not moving forward with a third season of the new Frasier series. While this is undoubtedly a big blow for the cast and crew just as much as the fans, not all hope is lost for the show just yet. CBS Studios will reportedly shop the series to other potential outlets, so there's a chance it could be saved with a pickup for Season 3 elsewhere. However, the series is not likely to come to CBS television, which already has a packed schedule with no room left for the Frasier revival.

After two seasons on Paramount+, the “Frasier” revival will not be moving forward, Variety has learned. CBS Studios will shop the series, which debuted in October 2023, around to other platforms.
The series, led by and executive produced by Kelsey Grammer, is a revival of the original series “Frasier,” a spinoff of “Cheers,” which aired for 11 seasons from 1993 to 2004, and won 37 Primetime Emmys. The first season of the revival didn’t take home any statues but did land three nominations.
Despite being produced by CBS Studios, it doesn’t seem likely the revival would go to CBS, as they already have multiple comedies, including “The Neighborhood,” “Poppa’s House,” “George & Mandy’s First Marriage,” “Ghosts” and the just-announced spinoff of “The Neighborhood” in development. The original did air on NBC, which could rebuild a comedy block to try to bring back Must-See TV. They currently have comedies “Lopez vs Lopez,” “Happy’s Place,...

Look, I, like an entire generation of '90s kids, love Kelsey Grammer as Frasier Crane. Across four decades, the actor has demonstrated a remarkable talent for playing a character who is at once warm and affable yet also insufferably pompous. Grammer has never once missed a step playing Dr. Crane, even in the neither remarkable yet disappointing "Frasier" revival series currently streaming on Paramount+. From his debut in "Cheers" to his current streaming-age exploits, Frasier has been a delight to watch as portrayed by Grammer.
But the actor's tenure as the beloved psychiatrist hasn't been without some questionable moments. Take, for instance, the time he became so frustrated by his "Frasier" co-star that he lightly chastised him for being "silly" and garnering "so much attention." At first, his comments seemed like a tongue-in-cheek ribbing from the sitcom star, but then his 1995 memoir came out and the tone took a more serious turn.

The mere mention of a remake or revival has the potential to strike fear into the heart of any entertainment lover. It evokes nauseating flashbacks of brain-rotting shows like 2008's "Knight Rider" or 2021's "Gossip Girl." That said, it isn't always a bleach-in-the-eye situation. Yes, there are good revivals and remakes of TV shows from the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s.
While nostalgia often holds back people from seeing the forest through the trees, there are instances when the modernized version of a series proves to be better than the original. Take "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" as a prime example. The sitcom turned Will Smith into a household name and features a legendary theme song, but it isn't often credited among the best sitcoms of all time. By comparison, the reimagined "Bel-Air" flips the focus to the intercharacter drama rather than the situational laughs, coming out a much stronger and resonating program in the end.

During the 200th episode of "Frasier," billionaire tech mogul Bill Gates stopped by the titular doctor's radio station to tout his then new Windows Xp operating system. It was an odd moment for the sitcom, which ran for 11 seasons from 1993 to 2004 with very few blatantly promotional stunts of this sort. There was, of course, the time Dr. Phil stopped by for one of the worst episodes of "Frasier," but otherwise the series stayed relatively insular, concerned only with its own little sitcom vision of Seattle and the people therein.
Years later, the show remains a beloved example of '90s sitcom brilliance, setting itself apart from contemporary series such as "Friends" or "Seinfeld" with not only a more hifalutin sense of humor but by also leaning into theatrical farce in a way that its rival shows didn't. "Frasier" often felt like watching a real stage play, especially in the more straightforwardly farcical installments,...

With the Frasier reboot happening nearly two decades after the decorated original sitcom ended, more modern ways exist to engage with audiences and gauge their feelings towards the updated series. One of the revival's producers reveals one intriguing way he tracks audience approval and interest following the recent conclusion of its second season.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Frasier reboot co-creators and showrunners, Joe Cristalli and Chris Harris, shared how they've been tracking viewer reactions for each episode. According to Cristalli, they've been visiting the Frasier subreddit to see how fans reacted to the revival, with the reviews being largely positive, especially from "superfans" who've followed since the original series aired. I keep, very trepidatiously, wandering into Reddit to see what they think, Cristialli said. Most of the Reddit subreddits Im on are the Frasier superfans, because thats who you impress.

Kelsey Grammer is currently enjoying a great deal of success with the revival of "Frasier," a series that has been running on Paramount+ since October 2023. The original "Frasier," itself a spinoff of "Cheers," starred Grammer as the titular character, a radio psychologist whose persnickety attitudes and tastes invited all manner of zany shenanigans into his life. The original show lasted 264 episodes over 11 seasons, making it one of the most successful sitcoms of its decade.
But, as many might be able to point out, Grammer's career has been wildly varied in success. He often shows up in films, yet he has headlined far more bombs than hits. Grammer has played Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast in several live-action "X-Men" movies, but he has also appeared in a slew of weird, low-budget, straight-to-home-media schlock. Who could forget, for instance, the bizarre glories of Andrew Lawrence's "Money Plane"? Grammer has similarly starred in numerous low-rent Christmas movies,...

The second season of the Frasier revival was even better than the first, because Frasier Crane, his son Freddy and their friends all experienced important changes in their lives. It was character development beyond what's seen in typical TV sitcoms, which gave the Paramount+ show more layers and more connection with the audience. But what went into some of those plot choices, and how were they worked into a series that still had to make room for being a comedy?
With all 10 episodes of Frasier Season 2 now streaming, Cbr sat down with showrunners and executive producers Chris Harris and Joe Cristalli to discuss how their stories came together. The duo explained what went into some of the best monents of the season, and why it's important to them to take such leaps with their characters. Plus, what do they feel they do differently than original Frasier episodes?
