Swedish House Mafia promise 6-week Ibiza residency
Chris Martin
The supergroup Swedish House Mafia are to play a six-week residency in Ibiza. The house supergroup – made up of Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso – took to social media to announce the development.

They confirm through their social media post that they will play over six Sundays in July and August this year, reports ‘Female First UK’.

Swedish House Mafia wrote on Instagram: “Our first Ibiza residency in over a decade. 6 Sundays only at @ushuaiaibiza. Tickets available now in bio. See you this summer(sic)”.

This comes after Steve recently revealed the group have been in talks with Coldplay’s Chris Martin about working together again, after they remixed the Grammy-winning band’s 2011 track ‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’, which samples the 70s’ hit ‘I Go to Rio’ and reached the Top 10 in the UK.

Steve recently told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “We’ve spoken to Chris Martin about it.

Swedish House Mafia in talks with Coldplay for new remix
Image
British rock band Coldplay could be set for another track with Swedish House Mafia. The house supergroup remixed the Grammy-winning band’s 2011 track ‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’.

The track samples the 70s’ hit ‘I Go to Rio’ and reached the Top 10 in the UK – and they’ve already spoken to frontman Chris Martin about working on something else together, reports ‘Female First UK’.

DJ Steve Angello, who is joined by Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso in the Swedish House Mafia, told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column, “We’ve spoken to Chris Martin about it. It would be cool to do something, so hopefully we can get it in the studio. That would be sick, because his vocals and the writing style would work really well with how we sound.”

Meanwhile, Nile Rodgers previously revealed he had been working on a top-secret project with Coldplay.

Speaking to the newspaper at the Nordoff Robbins Carol Service,...

The Weeknd’s ‘Avatar’ Song and Concert Film Are on the Grammy Ballot, Though He Didn’t Submit Them (Exclusive)
Image
The Weeknd is continuing to boycott the Grammys, but two of his projects — his Avatar: The Way of Water theme song and Emmy-nominated Live at SoFi Stadium concert film — are on the Grammy ballot.

Disney Music Group confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that they submitted “Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)” from Avatar for best song written for visual media, while HBO confirmed they submitted the singer’s concert special for best music film.

“Nothing is Lost,” released in Dec. 2022, was shortlisted for best original song at this year’s Academy Awards. The Weeknd co-wrote the song with Grammy-winning composer Simon Franglen and Swedish House Mafia members Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso. If nominated, Franglen and the electronic trio would receive nominations alongside The Weeknd.

Live at SoFi Stadium was filmed across two nights in Inglewood in Nov. 2022 as The Weeknd performed on his After Hours til Dawn Tour.

Image
Madonna is collecting her favorite club remixes, as well as some previously unreleased tracks, for a massive new collection, Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones, set to arrive Aug. 19.

The new collection was inspired by Madonna’s Feb. 2020 achievement of notching her 50th Number One on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart with “I Don’t Search I Find.” In doing so, Madonna not only became the first artist to earn at least one Number One song on the Dance Club Songs chart in five separate decades (the Eighties through the...

Coachella 2022: The 24 Best Things We Saw
Image
It took three years for music to return to Indio’s Empire Polo Club. But Covid seemed to be an afterthought this past weekend as fans flocked to each Coachella stage, mostly unmasked. Overall, the fest’s 2022 edition served as an exciting three-day celebration of live music’s resurgence, with Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, and Swedish House Mafia alongside the Weeknd topping the bill. (Kanye West’s last-minute drop-off went seemingly unnoticed.)

History was made throughout the weekend, as Eilish became the youngest headliner in history, and Pabllo Vittar the first drag queen to perform.

“When we said, ‘Let’s do an album,’ I probably didn’t know what it would take. If we had said we were going to do it back then, I’m not sure we would have been able to,” Axwell — who comprises Swedish House Mafia with Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso...

Lady Gaga Returns to the Dance Floor on ‘Chromatica’
Image
If anyone was going to send a love letter to disco and house music at a time when going to the club feels about as alien as wearing a dress made of cleaved meat, it’d be Lady Gaga. Although she initially had reservations about putting out Chromatica at the start of pandemic shutdowns, there’s something comforting about the way the album captures the feeling of banging your feet on a sweaty dance floor and bumping into strangers during the loneliest, most isolated moment in history. It might not...

Song You Need to Know: Lady Gaga feat. Elton John, ‘Sine From Above’
Image
Lady Gaga has officially returned to the dance floor that built her early career. Chromatica, a deep dive into the history of house and underground dance music, follows pit stops in jazz (Cheek to Cheek), country (Joanne) and Oscar territory (A Star Is Born). Along the way, she picks up a select group of friends to collaborate with her. Of course, Ariana Grande and Blackpink have their own histories of releasing booming pop bangers, but Elton John’s foray into dance music with Gaga feels like a welcome, surprising touch.

Lady Gaga’s ‘Chromatica’ Drops With a Track List Full of Heavy-Hitting Collaborators
Image
Lady Gaga released her highly-anticipated album Chromatica on Friday. The LP is the artist’s first studio album since 2016’s Joanne, and her first new-music release since the soundtrack to 2018’s A Star Is Born.

Intended as a celebration of house, techno, and other genres of electronic dance music, Chromatica saw Gaga collaborating with producers known for their Edm work, such as Skrillex, BloodPop, Burns, Axwell, and Tchami, as well as hitmaking powerhouses like Max Martin.

“I will do whatever it takes to make the world dance and smile,” she told Paper magazine in March.
