Co-wrote the screenplay for the coming-of-age thriller Background Noise with Amanda Kagiwada. The script was a featured project in the 2018 Frontières Finance Forum and is based off a true incident from Assip's adolescence.

Assip was one of the only people to interview late cult horror author Dennis Etchison on his involvement in the Halloween film franchise in November 2016. Assip's extensive interview with Etchison was published and released in October 2020 in the Harker Press book Taking Shape II, written by Dustin McNeill and Travis Mullins.

As of August 2020, Assip holds a New York State School Building Leader (SBL) certificate, the credentials required to be a principal or vice principal in a New York state school.
