In the pre-coverage of Joe Biden’s State of the Union address, the speech is being billed as the most important of his presidency, what with his dismal approval numbers and what is shaping up to be very difficult campaign for reelection.
Moreover, so much attention has been paid to the president’s age — at 81, he is the first octogenarian on a major party ticket — that any kind of slip up will be seized upon by his rivals.
Then again, Biden’s most memorable moment last year was an exchange with House Republicans over Social Security, showing that the president had command of the stage. That’s why it’ll be interesting to see if GOP members restrain themselves so as to not give the president the opportunity this year.

The cottage industry of cable series and streaming documentaries about UFOs may be set for a boom as bi-partisan Congressional efforts aimed at increasing transparency around what the U.S. Government knows about so-called Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (previously known as UFOs) have gained major momentum in recent days.
Last week, Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) announced the House Oversight Committee would hold hearings on the topic after a high-ranking whistleblower came forward in June and, according to Politico, “after the Pentagon and other national security agencies have said in recent months that they are investigating unidentified aircraft and hundreds of new reports of UFOs.”
Burchett, who with Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) has taken the lead on the hearings, said point-blank last week: “That’s what it is about: aliens…I think people deserve to know.”
Today, Burchett announced on Twitter that the first hearing on UAPs would take place next Wednesday.

In an interview on Fox Business Wednesday, President Trump said he is “all for” wearings masks to prevent the spread of coronavirus and would if he were in “a group of people.”
Trump has been regularly criticized for forgoing a mask in public and has been seen in close proximity to others without a mask on multiple occasions. At press conferences about the pandemic and its effects and a tour of a factory repurposed to produce ventilators for people infected by the virus, the president has been spotted with no facial covering. Ahead of the factory tour in May, the Michigan attorney general even wrote an open letter imploring him to wear a mask out of “legal responsibility.”
He ultimately appeared at the plant with no mask, claiming he wore one “in the back area” but removed it because he “didn’t want to give the press the pleasure of seeing it.

Amid one of the more consequential weeks in American politics, President Donald Trump will visit the House of Representatives’ chamber tonight to deliver his third State of the Union Address. Below is a rundown of how to watch on TV and online.
Note first that Deadline will have the livestream right here, starting at 9 Pm Et/6 Pm Pt. Watch it above.
Potus 45 will take the podium a day after the first vote of the 2020 presidential election cycle — the Iowa caucus — and the night before the Senate votes on whether to convict him on House Democrats’ articles of impeachment. Oh, and the Democratic White House hopefuls have another debate set for Friday.
While the electorate digests all that, here is where you can watch Trump speak — and possibly House Speaker Nancy Pelosi slow-clap — with the Democratic Response from Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to follow:
PBS NewsHour‘s coverage will be anchored by managing editor Judy Woodruff,...
