Taylor Sheridan might be the king of the modern Western, but Landman proves he’s just as potent when he trades horses for oil rigs. After a quiet but steady rollout on Paramount+ in late 2024, Sheridan’s latest drama has erupted in popularity this week following a major update: Landman Season 2 is officially arriving in December 2025. The surge in interest was almost immediate. According to FlixPatrol, Landman just broke into the iTunes Top 10 TV shows in the U.S., landing at #8, while also climbing from #8 to #6 on Paramount+’s own Top 10 globally.
Created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, Landman stars Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, a grizzled petroleum worker in West Texas navigating the landmines of the oil industry. Season 1 premiered on November 17, 2024, and wrapped in January, with Season 2 greenlit just two months later in March. Filming for the second season quietly kicked off in early April, keeping the turnaround tight — and fans appreciative.

Doing a job poorly isn’t edgy; it’s embarrassing. We’ve seen viewers turn off Landman Season 2 more from frustration than boredom. Unlike Yellowstone, where even flawed characters feel competent, Landman seems stuck in a loop of professional incompetence. From oil execs clueless about land deals to a bartender who picks fights, the show is littered with illogical choices that shatter immersion.
Viewers aren’t hating; they’re hopeful, hoping for competence that never materializes. They’re begging for depth and realism. If Landman really wants to earn its stripes in season 2, it needs to respect its characters and its audience by making their jobs believable and their decisions resonant.

Depending on where you are on the political and cultural spectrum, the topic of oil will elicit a different reaction from those in the opposite camp. Seeing it tackled in a TV show likeLandman will also evoke certain feelings, and when the show premiered last year, it was criticized by viewers and experts for its perceived intent to glorify oil production. However, as the season progressed, it became clear that Landman intended to present both sides in its unique fashion. Series star Billy Bob Thornton told Deadline that whatever someone thinks of the show, it's not driven by any one agenda. “I can’t speak for Taylor [Sheridan], but even though it might look like it on the surface, it doesn’t really come from a point of view of someone’s agenda. A lot of people may have had the wrong idea in the beginning because it was like,...

Landman Season 2 production is firing on all cylinders right now ahead of its looming release later this year, and one of the show’s younger stars has shared an interesting detail about the first season. Starring in the role of Cooper Norris in Landman is Jacob Lofland. Cooper is Tommy’s son, who is driven to become a Landman in his own right, like his father, but he will carve out his own path to do it. Cooper watches Armando (Michael Peña) die in the first episode during an oil rig explosion, and during a recent interview with ScreenRant at the Newport Beach TV Festival, he confirmed a frightening detail about this scene (and subsequent rig explosions) that adds new context to the incidents:
"We had a week of roughneck camp to get comfortable with the wells and rigs we were working on. By the way, it’s all real.

According to THR, Michelle Randolph—who’s made a strong impression with standout roles in Taylor Sheridan’s 1923 and Landman—is in talks to star in Malibu, an upcoming horror thriller from Paranormal Activity 2 director Tod Williams.
Not much is known about the project, other than that it’s described as “a thriller skulking around in the subterranean horror subgenre.” The film is expected to shoot later this year. Malibu isn’t the only horror film Randolph has on her slate. She’s also part of the ensemble cast of Scream 7, which is set for a February 27, 2026 release.
As for Landman, production on the second season is well underway. Randolph plays Ainsley, the daughter of Billy Bob Thornton’s character. Do not underestimate Rebecca Falcone. That’s the first — and perhaps most important — lesson anyone learns when they go head-to-head with her on Landman, the Taylor Sheridan drama where oil and power go hand-in-hand and corporate legal showdowns are just another day on the job. Played by Kayla Wallace, Rebecca is a high-octane attorney who doesn’t just hold her own in a man’s world — she dominates it.
In Season 1, Rebecca became one of Landman’s most intriguing breakout characters — a well writen female, imagine that — walking into deposition rooms and drilling sites with steely confidence and a laser-focused agenda. Whether she’s swatting away sexist remarks like they’re gnats or reminding grieving widows that she’s not here for anyone’s nonsense, Wallace’s performance makes clear: Rebecca isn’t here to play nice — she’s here to win, even if that pisses off other people.

If you're here, then one or more of the following three things are true: It's the weekend, you're looking for something to watch, and you're a fan of Taylor Sheridan's shows. Thankfully, you have come to the right place for a recommendation of which of his shows to binge-watch this weekend. There's a lot of them, so it's entirely possible that you haven't watched them all.
Since debuting Yellowstone on the Paramount Network in 2018, Sheridan has expanded his television universe quite a bit in the following year, branching out with an extension of the franchise on streaming. Even beyond the Yellowstone series, Sheridan has additional star-studded shows like Lioness and Lawmen: Bass Reeves that are also worthing binge-watching.
But we're narrowing the list down to the four shows that will soon be returning with new seasons (or spinoffs) and can be binge-watch in a weekend. Since Yellowstone's five...

Production on Landman Season 2 is in full swing, and one of the stars from Season 1 has pulled back the curtain on how he got a role in the series. Jon Hamm stars in the recurring role of Monty Miller in Landman Season 1, and those who watched the series are aware that he isn’t expected to reprise his role in Season 2. Hamm’s Monty Miller is the CEO of the Texas oil company M-Tex, working closely with Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) to secure oil fields and future profits. Hamm recently sat down for an interview with The Rich Eisen Show (via WhiskeyRiff), and he was asked what the audition process was to end up in a Taylor Sheridan-created series like Landman:
"[Sheridan] has this massive ranch down in West Texas in Weatherford –- just west of Fort Worth. You go down there and he goes, 'This is what I'm thinking,...

Fans are getting more excited about the return of Landman after the addition of Sam Elliott to the cast. The news has gotten even better as it's now been reported that Elliott will have a substantial role as one of the show's new stars, making his involvement much more than a brief guest role.
Last month, there had been reports that Elliott was in talks for a role in Landman Season 2. Landman star Billy Bob Thornton would later mention in an interview that Elliott, who he goes "back to the '80s with," would be in Season 2, seemingly confirming the casting. Now, a new report by Variety has revealed that Elliott's role is as a series regular. Additional details about his role haven't yet been revealed, though Elliott joins Thornton, Demi Moore, Ali Larter, Andy Garcia, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan, and Colm Feore.

Sam Elliott is returning to the Sheridan-verse.
The Oscar nominee has been cast in the second season of Paramount+ oil business drama Landman.
Elliott previously starred in Taylor Sheridan’s acclaimed limited series 1883 — which is considered by some to be the writer-producer’s finest TV effort.
Landman is co-created by Christian Wallace, who also serves as showrunner, and is currently filming its second season in Texas.
The second season also stars Billy Bob Thornton (who received a Golden Globe nomination for his performance during the first season), Demi Moore (who has an elevated role in season two), Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan and Colm Feore.
There is no description yet on the role that Elliott will play. While there’s no premiere date yet announced, given the production timing, a return of Landman before the end of the season is quite possible.

Billy Bob Thornton confirms another Hollywood icon is joining Landman, this time all the way from Yellowstone.
Speaking to Deadline, Thornton discussed the characters who would be taking a more prominent role in the hotly-anticipated second season of Landman. While Thornton noted that both Andy Garcia's Galino and Demi Moore's Cami Miler would be stepping further towards center stage, he also name dropped "Sam Elliott, who I go back to the '80s with," quietly confirming the addition of yet another beloved Hollywood icon to the hit neo-Western series star-studded ensemble cast. Elliott previously appeared in the Yellowstone offshoot 1883, which was also created by Taylor Sheridan. There were reports previously that he was in talks to join Landman, but his casting had not been confirmed.

Landman is refining its Emmy strategy.
Paramount+ has confirmed to Gold Derby the names of the 12 performers who will be submitted on the 2025 Emmys ballot for its show about the oil industry. The list is led by Billy Bob Thornton, who earlier this year received a Best Drama Actor Golden Globe nomination for his role of Tommy Norris, an abrasive petroleum Landman who comes to the oilfields of West Texas for work.
From the mind of Taylor Sheridan, this freshman drama series performed explosively last fall as the streamer's most-watched premiere of the past two years. Landman has already been renewed for a second season. Despite creating several popular shows that audiences devour en masse, Sheridan has yet to be recognized at the Emmy Awards. However, he is an Oscar nominee for Hell or High Water (2016) in Best Original Screenplay.
Other Landman cast members include The Substance Oscar nominee Demi Moore as Cami Miller,...

One of the stars from Landman Season 1 has shared some input on where he thinks the show could be headed in Season 2. Jon Hamm features as Monty Miller in Landman, the latest series from Taylor Sheridan that’s streaming on Paramount+. The show follows Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton), a Landman working for Monty’s oil company. Monty passes away at the end of Season 1 due to a lengthy battle with heart problems, and although his character is not expected back in Season 2, his absence will play a large part in the second season. During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hamm revealed how he thinks his passing will affect Cami (Demi Moore) as she takes on more responsibility in Landman Season 2:
"I think she probably has a lot of thoughts going through her head right now, and a lot of them have to do with how this life really hurt her family.

Taylor Sheridan's "Landman" boasts a star-studded cast that includes Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm, and Demi Moore. Despite featuring some big names, however, not all of them have prominent roles. Moore, specifically, barely appears in "Landman" season 1, much to the regret of series co-creator Christian Wallace. Fortunately, the Oscar-nominated actor will return for season 2 of the Texas-set oil drama, and Hamm -- who plays her character's now-deceased husband, Monty Miller -- believes that her role will be upgraded.
With Monty dead and gone following the season 1 finale, it's time for Moore's Cami Miller to step up to the plate as their family's main breadwinner. As of this writing, storyline plans for Cami are mostly being kept under wraps. All the same, Hamm suspects Cami will have an emotional arc in "Landman" season 2. As he told The Hollywood Reporter:

Landman lead Billy Bob Thornton has teased the arrival of a Yellowstone and Western staple in the Taylor Sheridan drama series. Thanks to the likes of the neo-noir success that is Yellowstone and all its various spin-offs, Taylor Sheridan has now become a franchise all his own, with Landman being one of the writer, director, and producer’s other hits outside the world of the Duttons.
Now, Landman is looking to add Yellowstone universe star and Academy Award nominee Sam Elliott to the roster. After rumors of his casting, Billy Bob Thornton has now confirmed (via Deadline) that Elliott will join Landman Season 2 in a key role.
“I go way back with [Sam] to the mid-80s,” Thornton said of starring alongside Elliott in Landman Season 2. “Yes, I’m old.” Details of his role in the series are currently under wraps, but it is thought to be a main role, meaning...

Before the Season 2 announcement, Landman co-creator Christian Wallace hinted to TVLine that a second season would show more of the increasing tension between Rebecca and Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton). "So that has set up this antagonism between them that if the story was to continue forward, I would expect more of that.

Filming is officially underway on Season 2 of Landman, and Kayla Wallace is celebrating her return to the world of West Texas oil in style. The actress took to social media with two posts this week, marking her arrival back on set. The first, a simple but exciting "Round 2" caption, signaled her return to filming. The second followed shortly after, with Wallace writing, “So happy to be back with this team” alongside a carousel of behind-the-scenes photos featuring crew members, outdoor locations, and what looks like another long Texas day under the sun. And you know it's a hot sun down there.

The actress — who recently earned her first-ever Oscar nomination for The Substance — confirmed via Instagram on Sunday, April 7, that she was back on set of Taylor Sheridan’s latest hit Paramount+ drama.
“It’s my first day back on set,” Moore shared in a midday Story, showing off her custom sneakers and socks from her daughter Rumer Willis. Oscar-nominated actress Demi Moore for The Substance looks to have a more promising role in Landman season 2. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Moore will be placed second in billing behind the leading star of the series, Billy Bob Thornton.
The fanbase for Landman were frustrated to say the least with Demi Moore’s limited involvement in season 1. When you have a Hollywood hot shot like Demi, it doesn’t make much sense to sideline her. The change in the credits guarantees that the Golden Globe winning actress will have a grander role in chapter two of Taylor Sheridan’s hit drama.

Taylor Sheridan and Paramount+ have proven to be a dream team. After the success of the Yellowstone franchise, Sheridan added another star-studded series, Landman, to his growing Paramount+ slate.
Paramount+ renewed Landman for Season 2 earlier this month, two months after its Season 1 finale. The series, which stars Academy Award-winning actor Billy Bob Thornton and Academy Award nominee Demi Moore, has drawn strong viewership numbers. Paramount+ announced today that production on Landman Season 2 has officially started in Texas and released a photo of Thornton holding the script for the first episode.

Filming for Landman Season 1 started in February 2024 and concluded in June 2024. It was released on Paramount+ on Nov. 17, 2024. If Season 2 follows a similar pattern of a four-month filming schedule, Landman Season 2 could premiere in early 2026. Paramount+ hasn't confirmed the release window.
Based on the Boomtown podcast, Landman follows Tommy Norris (Thornton), a landman for an oil company.

Paramount+ announced the start of filming on a second season of Landman.
The Taylor Sheridan drama has started shooting new episodes after its breakout debut season last fall.
In addition to star Billy Bob Thornton — who plays an operations executive for a Texas oil company — Demi Moore is set to return following her Oscar nominated turn in The Substance.
Moore played Cami, the wife of an oil boss (Jon Hamm), in the debut season, which drew some criticism for not giving the actress more to do. In the new season, Moore is second billed behind Thornton, and co-creator Christian Wallace has teased the character will have a larger role in the new episodes. “There is a lot more story left to tell with Cami,” Wallace told Variety. “Taylor has big plans, that’s all I’m going to say.”

Paramount+ struck black gold with Landman, and now it’s full steam ahead for Season 2. the Taylor Sheridan-created neo-Western is back in production — and things are already getting messy in the West Texas oil patch. Season 2 filming kicked off this week across multiple Fort Worth locations, including Tcu’s Sadler Mall, Milton Daniel Hall, and the Mary Wright Admission Center. Behind-the-scenes footage spotted Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) and Angela (Ali Larter) walking through campus, hinting that Ainsley’s college aspirations may finally be coming into focus after the wild Spring Break escapades of Season 1. Or maybe she and Angela are trying to recruit college professors for a night of debauchery.

Taylor Sheridan's "Yellowstone" franchise is an expansive beast that currently boasts three shows with more on the way, but is his "Landman" series secretly set in the same universe as his Western soap operas? After all, "Landman" is the perfect viewing for fans of "Yellowstone," as both series explore similar themes and center their stories around tough individuals with stressful lives in dangerous worlds. As it stands, though, Sheridan has yet to confirm if both series are part of the same franchise, but "Yellowstone" might have been on his mind when he created "Landman."
"Yellowstone" tells the story of the Dutton family as they fight to protect their ranch from greedy capitalists and powerful criminals who want to turn it into lucrative businesses. "Landman," meanwhile, sees Billy Bob Thornton play an executive for a Texas-based oil company, which brings him into contact with other ruthless business peeps and the cartel.
