Actor Tanuj Virwani gives precedence to stories, but says he will not be part of a project which makes one cringe.

He was recently seen in an episode of Voot's "Fuh se Fantasy". In the episode titled 'Just Good Friends', he features as Tahir who meets Leela (Madhurima Roy) and Kiara (Satarupa Pyne). The episode shows them having an intimate adventure.

"My funda before signing on any new project is not to be too judgmental about it -- are there any bold scenes in it or is there any cringe worthy.... For me, story is king," Tanuj said in a statement.

"There's something about the casual air that the story had about these three characters, Tahir, Kiara and Leela, who don't know about each other. When he is not busy preening posturing and pontificating Madhur Bhandarkar can actually tell a spanking good story. Calendar Girls is familiar Bhandarkar territory. He penetrates the sham behind the glam of the entertainment industry and piece by piece dismantles its hypocrisies and double-speak.

Looking at the grime behind the glamour Calendar Girls builds a solid back-story for each of the five calendar girls. Akansha Puri, Avani Modi, Kyra Dutt, Ruhi Singh, Satarupa Pyne…agent provocateurs all, with bodies lithe enough to look they are for bikinis-born. None of the five girls can be said to be able actresses….not now at least. Though a couple of them do show some promise.

We are well aware of Madhur Bhandarkar’s talent with filmmaking, but what we bet you didn’t know is the director’s affinity with music. Madhur plays the piano and was seen playing one on the sets of his upcoming film Calendar Girls. Apparently he kept the cast and crew entertained with some of his favourite tunes.

A source close to the director revealed, “Madhur would have impromptu sessions during breaks. He used to play his favourite songs; it was a very fun environment.”

Releasing on September 25th, noted filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar’s Calendar Girls like all of his films is a look into a world and exposing that world through the eyes of the characters.

Starring five newcomers, Akanksha Puri, Avani Modi, Kyra Dutt, Ruhi Singh and Satarupa Pyne, it is the story of five models – Paroma Ghosh, Nazneen Malik, Nandita Menon, Sharon Pinto and Mayuri Chauhan, who go through various phases from fame to anonymity and highlights the experiences of the young models who achieve success after featuring on a popular calendar.

Madhur Bhandarkar’s upcoming film Calendar Girls has created quite a buzz since its trailer release. Soon after, the director revealed that it was Deepika Padukone and business tycoon Vijay Mallya that inspired him to make the film.

Madhur Bhandarkar said, “We have taken inspiration from a lot of people like Vijay Mallya… Who launches calendar every year. I share good relationship with him. Deepika (Padukone) who herself was a calender girl. ”

“When I flipped the pages of calendar (launched by Mallya), I was intrigued to know more about them… How it gives them a platform to get noticed. I did speak to Vijay (Mallya) that I am making a film like this. I plan to show him the film,” he further revealed.

The film revolves around the life of five models – Paroma Ghosh, Nazneen Malik, Nandita Menon, Sharon Pinto and Mayuri Chauhan, who gain popularity after featuring in famous calendars.

Madhur Bhandarkar and his Calendar Girls – Akanksha Puri, Avani Modi, Kyra Dutt, Ruhi Singh and Satarupa Pyne; attended the Pro-Kabaddi match on the 19th to support the sport. The highly acclaimed director was seen having a fun evening with the cast of the film.
