"My managers were always very supportive, like, 'You know what? Helen Hunt isn't funny.' I go, 'What?' They're like, 'Not technically.' [So] I said, 'She just won like five Emmys.' They're like, 'Yes. So she's funny in a different way. She's not three-jokes-a-page funny. And yet she is wildly funny.

Four years after the end of Modern Family on ABC, actor Eric Stonestreet is reflecting on the spinoff that didn't come to be. While Stonestreet was hoping to co-star in a spinoff alongside Jesse Tyler Ferguson which would have followed Cam and Mitch, the series was passed on by the network.

Per Deadline, Stonestreet discussed his desired Modern Family spinoff during an interview with Graham Bensinger. The actor recalled how there were plans to potentially develop a Cam and Mitch spinoff starting with a pilot script Stonestreet felt was really strong. Disney+ has revealed the official trailer and key art for ‘Turner & Hooch,’ the original series premiering Wednesday, July 21.

When an ambitious, buttoned-up US Marshal inherits a big unruly dog, he soon realizes the dog he didn’t want may be the partner he needs. The series stars Josh Peck as Scott Turner, son of Detective Scott Turner portrayed by Tom Hanks in the 1989 film of the same name.

The series also stars as Carra Patterson as Jessica Baxter, Scott’s brave, street-smart partner; Brandon Jay McLaren as Xavier Wilson, a cool, enigmatic marine-turned-us Marshal; Anthony Ruivivar as Chief James Mendez, Scott’s boss with a secret soft spot for Scott’s new dog, Hooch; Lyndsy Fonseca as Laura Turner, Scott’s sweet, animal-loving sister; Jeremy Maguire as Matthew Garland, Laura’s dog-loving son; and Vanessa Lengies as Erica Mouniere, the quirky head of the US Marshals dog training program.

We have the first trailer for Disney's Turner & Hooch TV show. And the Disney+ series has not pulled any punches as the sneak peek comes with a pretty surprising reveal right off the bat. Josh Peck, of Drake & Josh fame, is starring in the lead role and he is playing the son of Detective Scott Turner, Tom Hanks' character from the 1989 movie of the same name. However, as the trailer reveals, his dad is dead, which pretty much rules out any hope for a Hanks cameo, barring a flashback of some kind.

The trailer opens by introducing us to Josh Peck's Turner, who is career-focused and a bit uptight. A large dog is then dropped in his lap that his dad wanted him to have. And, as we come to find later in the footage, his dad passed away. Things quickly get chaotic as the pooch is not exactly well behaved.

Are you ready for a very different Turner & Hooch?

Disney+ on Wednesday unveiled the first trailer for its upcoming original series, Turner & Hooch, based on the 1989 movie of the same name.

Hanks starred in the latter as a detective who took on Hooch, and well, hilarious moments ensued.

Josh Peck plays Scott Turner in the update, and the trailer confirms that Hanks' character is very much dead.

As a result, Scott inherits the beautiful titular canine, and he proves to be more than a handful.

Becca Tobin, Carra Patterson, Brandon Jay McLaren, Anthony Ruivivar, Lyndsy Fonseca, Jeremy Maguire, and Vanessa Lengies.

Five French Mastiffs also appear as Hooch, but will we be able to spot the difference?

Probably not.

The trailer begins with Scott having a string of missed calls from his mother.

His sister, Laura, arrives at his home to drop Hooch off with him.

Reginald VelJohnson will reprise his role as David Sutton in the Turner and Hooch sequel series on Disney+. The upcoming series, which stars Josh Peck as the son of Tom Hanks' character from the original movie, was developed by Burn Notice creator Matt Nix. Though the series will be following a new Turner and a new Hooch, VelJohnson's appearance marks at least one link back to the original movie.

Deadline reports that Reginald VelJohnson will be featured in a recurring role on the Turner & Hooch series, so he won't be limited to a one-off cameo appearance. Playing a cop in the original movie, VelJohnson's David Sutton is now the mayor of the city. Hanks is not currently attached to the project and there are not currently any plans to feature the original Scott Turner at this time. It's unclear if any other actors from the original movie will also be appearing.

ABC is not going to let its comedy hit Modern Family go quietly as the long-running series enters its 11th and final season.

ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke admitted to Deadline on Monday that the current storyline of Hayley Dunphy, played by Sarah Hyland, and her newborn baby with her on-again-off-again boyfriend Dylan, played by Reid Ewing, seems tailor-made for a spinoff.

Modern Family, which also stars Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould and Rico Rodriguez, just launched production on the final season and co-creator/exec producer Steve Levitan said they “plan on finishing strong.”

Burke admitted that Levitan doesn’t yet want to discuss spinoffs. “I get smacked down every time I bring it up to Steve Levitan, so I’m going to stay quiet for a little while,” she said. “They’ve just started production on the final season...
