Prime Cruz’s supernatural horror feature “The Sacrifice” has wrapped principal photography in the Philippines and revealed its complete cast lineup.

The production has unveiled the full cast joining acclaimed filmmaker Lav Diaz in a rare acting appearance. Leading the ensemble are Lovi Poe, Enchong Dee and Timothy Granaderos.

The newly revealed supporting cast includes Max Collins, Louie Chapman, Pokwang, and Tommy Alejandrino.

The film, scripted by Jerrold Tarog, follows a group of vloggers who venture into a remote Philippine village in search of a mysterious substance harvested only once a decade. Their content-driven expedition transforms into a nightmare as they become entangled in sacred rites and face off against an ancient entity from Filipino folklore.

Cruz previously helmed “Sleepless” and “The Other Wife.”

Exclusive: After six years as a manager at More/Medavoy, Stephen Belden is going it alone, having launched his own management and production company, Death Wish Entertainment.

“The dream,” Belden said, “has always been to work with a core group of clients that I absolutely adore as artists and as human beings and to be able to produce projects with and for those clients. With this company I get to focus on exactly that and I couldn’t be more excited.”

Belden explained that the name Death Wish is “a tongue-in-cheek nod to the fact that it’s harder than ever to be working in the entertainment industry right now,” underscoring at the same time that he “couldn’t be more optimistic about what the future holds for the up and coming generation of actors, writers, directors, and producers that I work with.”

Additionally, he expressed his gratitude to those at his former company.

Julietta Boscolo’s Let’s See How Fast this Baby Will Go is among seven films that will screen at the American Pavilion’s showcase of short films from emerging filmmakers at the Cannes Film Festival.

Funded by Screen Australia’s Hot Shots program, the film stars Liv Hewson and Tara Morice and follows pregnant teenager Gloria. Despite being in labour she decides to buy a new car and in the process of giving birth she becomes a new person.

Based on a true story by Gloria Harrison and produced by Eva Di Blasio and executive produced by Robyn Kershaw, the 15-minute comedy/drama won the emerging filmmaker award at the 2017 Melbourne International Film Festival and the Atom award for best short fiction film.

Exclusive: Now in its 31st year, the American Pavilion is moving with the times and bringing inclusion and representation to the forefront with its showcase of films by emerging filmmakers. This year, 29 films will make their debut on the Croisette. The global stories include 17 female directors, six documentaries and 11 Lgbtq narratives that are relevant to the times.

The new films will be featured in five showcases: Student Short Films, Student Documentaries, Emerging Filmmaker Short Films, Emerging Filmmaker Documentaries and Emerging Filmmaker Lgbtq Showcase Films. All are part of the Emerging Filmmaker Showcase series. Some of the films feature actors including M. Emmet Walsh, Wallace Langham, Michelle Davidson, among others.
