Time ‘Person Of The Year’ Honors Moving To YouTube For Its Reveal

For the first time, the Time Person of the Year award is moving to YouTube. The 2021 reveal is set to premiere at 7:30 Am Et on Mon. Dec. 13 on the media outlet’s YouTube channel,

The move to the net is a break with past protocol, which typically saw a broadcast network make the announcement. NBC most recently broke the news on the Today show.

Person of the Year (which was called Man of the Year or Woman of the Year until 1999) is an annual issue that profiles a person, a group, an idea, or an object that, “for better or for worse… has done the most to influence the events of the year”. The selection is made solely by the magazine’s editors.

Lana Condor Will Not Be Silenced About Ending Anti-Asian Hate: "Stopping Is Not an Option"

When it comes to issues that are important to her, like stopping violence against the Asian community, To All the Boys I've Loved Before actress Lana Condor will not stay silent. "Speaking up is important," the 24-year-old told Shape. "It's easy to be a bystander, but you could save a life if you stand up for someone." She added: "When I speak with other people [in the Asian community], we grieve together, then we pick each other up and tell each other to keep going, because that's the only thing to do. You keep going or you stop. To me, stopping is not an option."

Despite a difficult year that saw a rise in anti-Asian hate, Lana is still hopeful about the future. "It's been a traumatizing and emotionally challenging year," she explained. "But we have to stay strong and be hopeful about the future. Things are changing.
