‘The Amityville Legacy’ Finds a Haunted Monkey Inside the Amityville Toybox [The Amityville IP]
Image
Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.”

With Amityville Vanishing Point unavailable to stream or buy in Canada, I’ve had to leap frog over it and go directly to 2016’s The Amityville Legacy (aka Amityville Toybox).

Co-written and co-directed by Dustin Ferguson and Mike Johnson (file away the former: he’ll return several times in the future), the 15th Amityville film is another low-budget, independent effort. All of the characters have the same first name as the actor playing them, and the performances are often amateurish. Namely the film’s visual aesthetic is flat and the audio quality is poor, particularly in early scenes set in cars. The plot recycles the events of both the original and the remake, with a father who goes mad and kills his family,...

Poster & two clips from ‘Nemesis 5: The New Model’
Albert Pyun’s Nemesis franchise was a staple of the Dtv era, with the Olivier Gruner starring first film exploding into video stores in 1992 and a further 3 installments released in 1995 and 1996 – probably because Pyun churned out the sequels in order to cash in on the popularity of the original… Why the history lesson? Well a Fifth film in the franchise, Nemesis 5: The New Model, is currently in production! Pyun is not behind the camera this time, merely a producer, with filmmaker Dustin Ferguson (The Amityville Legacy) taking the directorial reigns.

It is the year 2077 and terrorist organization known as The Red Army Hammerheads now dominate the Earth. The fate of humanity now rests in the hands of The New Model, Ari Frost (Schuylar Craig). Trained under the wing of Alex Rain (Sue Price), she must form an army of Cyborg Humans to take down the regime and regain control.

Dustin Ferguson's Amityville: Evil Never Dies Features Return to Acting of Scream Legend Mark Patton
MoreHorror.com

Dustin Ferguson, director and creator of horror flicks and owner of cult-film status Old Skool Video rental store, has announced that Mark Patton, lauded as the first “male scream queen,” is continuing his return to acting as one of the stars of Ferguson's Amityville: Evil Never Dies.

The new film is a continuation of the “Amityville” horror series created by Ferguson and Mike Johnson. In their 2016 film "The Amityville Legacy,” a cursed antique toy monkey from the original DeFeo Amityville home, creates havoc and possesses a father after being gifted during an annual family reunion.

“Amityville: Evil Never Dies,” takes place one year after the events in "The Amityville Legacy." A young couple, played by Ben Gothier and Michelle Muir-Lewis, purchases the cursed toy monkey from the owner of a local antique shop, played by Patton. Unaware of the recent murders involving the toy, they bring it into their home,...
