Every Actor Confirmed To Be Returning For The Witcher Season 4
Image
The Witcher season 4 doesn't have a release date yet, which is no surprise given how the show has recast its lead role with Liam Hemsworth. Geralt of Rivia's mentor will also look different, as Vesemir's actor also won't be returning due to scheduling conflicts. But according to Netflix, the rest of The Witcher's regular cast will be returning, barring those who died during the climactic end of season 3.

The Witcher season 4 will also be bringing on several new cast members, such as fan-favorite vampire Regis, who will be played by Laurence Fishburne, as well as Danny Woodburn as Geralt's friend, the Dwarf swordsman Zoltan Chivay. With these additions, The Witcher's next outing will have a star-studded cast as the Netflix show reaches a tense point of adapting Andrzej Sapkowski's books.

The Witcher Season 4 Could Give Jaskier His Most Heartbreaking Storyline Yet
Image
The Witcher season 4 is facing big challenges with its Geralt of Rivia and Vesemir recasts along with some dark storylines, and in addition to that, it could give Jaskier his most heartbreaking storyline yet. Netflixs The Witcher quickly became one of the platforms most popular titles, and though it had a great start, season 2 was met with a lot of controversy due to the changes it made to the source material. The Witcher season 3 was an improvement but didnt quite earn the audiences trust back, and this is going to be even more difficult in season 4.

The Witcher season 3 ended with the Thanedd Coup and its immediate aftermath, with Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) forming the Lodge of Sorceresses, Geralt (Henry Cavill) recovering in Brokilon and setting out with Jaskier (Joey Batey) and Milva to find Ciri (Freya Allan), and Ciri being rescued by the Rats, who she ended up joining. The Witcher Set Photos Reveal New Look At Liam Hemsworth As Geralt & First Glimpse Of A New Character
Image
Netflix recently revealed our first official look at Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia with a brief teaser promo for season 4 of The Witcher, but some new set photos give us arguably our best look yet at the actor fully suited-up as the titular monster hunter.

The shoot is believed to be winding down, with scenes for the final two episodes being filmed in North Wales around Llanberis, near Padarn Lake.

The recent third season of Netflix's fantasy adventure series was original Geralt actor Henry Cavill's last, as the Man of Steel star announced his decision to part ways with the streamer's adaptation of the best-selling novels back in 2022.

Hemsworth (The Hunger Games) will take over as Geralt from season 4 on, and these snaps show the actor standing alongside Laurence Fishburne, who will make his debut in season 4 as Regis. The photos also feature Meng’er Zhang as Milva, Eamon Farren as Cahir,...

‘The Witcher’ Season 4 First Look: Liam Hemsworth Officially Takes Over Geralt of Rivia From Henry Cavill in New Footage
Image
Attention, “The Witcher” fans: A new Geralt of Rivia has officially arrived, courtesy of Netflix’s first look at Season 4 of its popular fantasy series. The image unveils Liam Hemsworth as Geralt for the first time. Henry Cavill played the character during the first three seasons of “The Witcher,” and “The Hunger Games” veteran is now taking over the part for the final two seasons.

Netflix shocked “The Witcher” fans in October 2022 when it announced Cavill would be departing the show after the third season, which aired in summer 2023 in two parts. Cavill’s exit coincided with news that he would be returning to the DC Universe on the big screen as Superman, although the announcement was premature as plans for his Man of Steel return for eventually nixed.

“The Witcher” is getting two more seasons at Netflix and will end after its fifth installment. Seasons four and five will...

The Witcher Season 4 Set Photos Reveal First Look At Liam Hemsworth As Geralt Of Rivia
Image
More photos from the set of The Witcher season 4 have been shared online, and this time we have an actual first glimpse of Liam Hemsworth suited-up as Geralt of Rivia!

The recent third season of Netflix's fantasy adventure series was original Geralt actor Henry Cavill's last, as the Man of Steel star announced his decision to part ways with the streamer's adaptation of the best-selling novels back in 2022.

Hemsworth (The Hunger Games) will take over as the titular monster hunter from season 4 on, and a recent photo from the set featured his stunt-double Joel Adrian in-costume. Adrian looked enough like Hemsworth to fool a lot of people, but these snaps spotlight the man himself.

The photos show Hemsworth as Geralt doing battle with Vilgefortz (Mahesh Jadu), and appear to be recreating a scene from season 3 which saw the mage emerge victorious. There is also one shot of Geralt...

The Witcher: Liam Hemsworth's Stunt Double Suits-Up As Geralt In New Season 4 Set Photo
Image
The recent third season of The Witcher was Henry Cavill's last, as the Man of Steel actor announced his decision to part ways with Netflix's adaptation of the best-selling fantasy novels back in 2022.

Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games) will take over as Geralt of Rivia from season 4 on, and a new photo from the season 4 set gives us a first look at the updated costume the actor will don for the role.

Though the image did fool us at first, this is not actually Hemsworth himself (although he does look quite a bit like him), but his stunt-double Joel Adrian.

During a recent interview with Collider, co-star Freya Allan said she's looking forward to seeing what Hemsworth brings to the role, but is also concerned about the level of fan backlash he's sure to receive.

“I don’t want to speak for him, but from what I’ve understood,...

Major Series Adaptation Renewals at Netflix, Prime Video

There's more to come for two of TV's biggest series adaptations!

The first season of "Fallout" premiered exclusively on Prime Video on April 10, and within its first few days post-launch, the series became one of the streamer's top three most-watched titles.

The Witcher renewed for fifth and final season at Netflix
Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, and Anya Chalotra in The Witcher (2019)
Geralt of Rivia’s story has an end date on Netflix.

On Thursday, the streaming service renewed The Witcher for Season 5, but revealed that it would be the last season.

The shocking announcement comes as production is finally getting underway on The Witcher Season 4 following countless setbacks.

“It is with huge pride that we begin shooting our penultimate Season of The Witcher with a stellar cast, including some exciting new additions, led by Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia,” showrunner Lauren Hissrich shared in a statement.

“We’re thrilled to be able to bring Andrzej Sapkowski’s books to an epic and satisfying conclusion. It wouldn’t be our show if we didn’t push our family of characters to their absolute limit — stay tuned to see how the story ends.”

Saying goodbye to the hit fantasy drama will be tough, but at least we have two seasons that will help soften the blow.

This Is 'The Witcher' Season 3's Biggest Problem
Image
Netflix's The Witcher has more than its share of issues, with behind-the-scenes drama on top of a complex story. Yet one problem has floated to the forefront in the newest season and can no longer be ignored. The epic fantasy show has a sprawling cast, which only grows as the conflict develops, but even so, few characters have made their way into the fans' hearts. The show has several memorable characters, but for its scope, that group should be a bit bigger. Geralt's (Henry Cavill) begrudging heroics and fighting prowess are hard to forget, as are Yennefer's (Anya Chalotra) magical feats and Jaskier's (Joey Batey) constant humor. Ciri's (Freya Allan) position in the center of the story and her mysterious powers add her to the list. Yet, the show has many more characters with their own storylines that it simply hasn't made the audience fall in love with.

Tissaia's decision to take her own life in The Witcher Season 3, Part 2 is driven by her guilt over the Thanedd coup and her blindness to Vilgefortz's deception. Tissaia leaves a letter for Yennefer, expressing poignant sentiments and warnings about the consequences of using violent magic. At the end of The Witcher Season 3, Part 2 Tissaia makes a choice that could have resounding effects on Season 4. Of the sprawling cast of returning characters in The Witcher, Tissaia de Vries (MyAnna Buring) had an underrated part in Season 3 as a tragic mother figure to Yennefer, a far cry from Aretuza's strong and stern headmistress in Season 1 who turned generations of girls into powerful Continent-changing women.

The Witcher Season 3's Saddest, Most Unexpected Moment Deserves A Closer Look
Image
This post contains spoilers for "The Witcher" season 3 part 2.

Of all the supporting characters who fill out the sprawling cast of "The Witcher," Tissaia de Vries (MyAnna Buring) might be the most underrated. Yennefer's mother figure also served as Aretuza's headmistress, a strong and sometimes exacting influence on generations of girls who grew up into powerful, world-changing women. That legacy wasn't enough to keep her going after she failed to save her students from the violent aftermath of a coup attempt or stop her lover Vilgefortz (Mahesh Jadu) from going after Ciri (Freya Allan). In the season 3 finale of Netflix's adaptation of "The Witcher" book series, Tissaia commits suicide, breaking the heart of her former students -- especially Yen.

Tissaia's death comes just after Buring's most heart-wrenching performance to date, in which Yennefer finds her mentor obsessing over the movements of the opposing armies after accidentally instigating the attack...

‘The Witcher’ Season 3 Finale: Henry Cavill’s Exit, Liam Hemsworth’s New Geralt and Every Death Explained
Image
Spoiler Alert: This recap contains spoilers for “The Witcher” Season 3, Part 2, now streaming on Netflix.

“The Witcher” fans knew Season 3 would be bittersweet. It’s the final installment of the Netflix fantasy series before Henry Cavill, who has starred as famed monster hunter Geralt of Rivia since Season 1, is replaced by Liam Hemsworth in an unexpected shake-up.

Beginning in Season 4, Hemsworth will be donning Geralt’s swords, Witcher medallions and long, white locks, while the rest of the cast remains intact — except, of course, for those characters who died in Season 3, Part 2’s bloody battles.

Since the recasting was announced, fans have been wondering how the switch from Cavill to Hemsworth will happen. Would Hemsworth appear in the Season 3 finale? Would some kind of spell change Geralt’s Cavill-esque appearance into something more Hemsworth-ian? How would Geralt’s relationships with Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), Ciri (Freya Allen) and Jaskier (Joey Batey) be affected?...

The Witcher Season 3 Ending Explained: These Violent Delights Have Violent Ends
Image
This post contains spoilers for Netflix's "The Witcher."

Andrzej Sapkowski's "Time of Contempt" — the second installment in his popular "The Witcher" novel series — throws the Continent into chaos from the get-go. With Nilfgaard trying to take over the rest of the Continent, Redania hatches their own plans to get the upper hand. However, unbeknownst to them, Nilfgaard is already one step ahead. These machinations culminate in the Conclave of the Mages right after the Thanedd Ball in Aretuza — a violent event in the history of the Continent that demolished the Brotherhood from within, which directly destabilized the power structures required to keep usurpers like Emperor Emhyr in check. Season 3 of "The Witcher" focuses exclusively on the Thanedd event and its disastrous aftermath, which tears Geralt (Henry Cavill), Yeneffer (Anya Chalotra), and Ciri (Freya Allan) apart once again.

With Cavill's departure at the end of this season, this particular...

‘The Witcher’ Season 3: Everything to Know Before Watching Part 2
Image
Before heading into the The Witcher’s season three finale, let’s recap.

Over the course of this season’s first five episodes, Geralt (Henry Cavill), Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and Ciri (Freya Allan) are on the run — from, well, basically everyone on the Continent — as the warring factions battle for claim to the land. The key to winning the fight? Ciri, herself.

Yennefer has taken Ciri to develop her magic at the academy of Aretuza, while Geralt hunts the evil and dangerous mage Rience, discovering some disturbing developments along the way. Part two leaves only three episodes to tie up the various storylines at play, not to mention that it will also mark star Cavill’s last time as the titular witcher, before Liam Hemsworth takes over the role of Geralt in Netflix’s season four.

The decision to split The Witcher was inspired by the success of Stranger Things,...

The Witcher Season 3 Volume 2 Trailer: Henry Cavill's Witcher Days Are Almost Over
Image
Whichever way "The Witcher" (say that three times fast!) elects to send off Henry Cavill's Geralt of Rivia, Netflix's marketing team is certainly pulling out all the stops. The streamer has released a second and final trailer for season 3 volume 2 just a few days ahead of its arrival, complete with all the trimmings "Witcher" fans could ask for. There's even a line or two of dialogue that all but explicitly nods to Cavill's impending departure from the show. It's almost enough to give you a lump in your throat, in-between the clips of our treasured grouchy monster hunter dad going all stabbity-stabbity on his enemies.

"We didn't come this far just to abandon each other," Geralt growls at one point. "Then don't abandon me," Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) replies, as the trailer shows Geralt and his "dear friend" holding back tears. It's not all vulnerable admissions and earnest sentiment,...

‘The Witcher’ Season 3 Part 1 Ending Explained: Who Is the Rogue Mage?
Image
Editor's note: The below contains spoilers for Season 3, Vol. 1 of The Witcher. The Witcher Season 3 is out now, at least in part. The Netflix show's latest season is divided into two parts, released roughly a month apart. So far, Season 3 is focusing more on the mages than the witchers, contrasting the show's earlier direction — but it still follows Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) as he attempts to raise his child surprise, Ciri (Freya Allan), despite the ever-increasing dangers that are hunting her. With only five of the season's eight episodes available, the series is stalled at a perilous point. Picking up where Season 2 left off, the new episodes have many people chasing Ciri as she, Geralt, and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) try to remain hidden while Ciri learns about her powers. But, while several groups are after her, the trio focuses their efforts on the one they consider most dangerous — Rience...

Hugh Skinner, Cassie Clare & Graham McTavish On Redania's Plans In The Witcher Season 3
Image
The Witcher season 3, part 1 spends more time in the kingdom of Redania, where spymaster Sigismund Dijkstra (Graham McTavish) and court mage Philippa Eilhart (Cassie Clare) plot how to maintain their power in the North when faced with Nilfgaard's incoming onslaught. The popular Netflix series also introduces another member of their entourage in the recent batch of episodes: King Vizimir's seemingly clueless brother, Radovid (played by Hugh Skinner). Fans of the beloved games and Andrzej Sapkowski's stories are very familiar with the character, but the latest iteration is far different than expected.

Redania already has some ties to Geralt's bard friend Jaskier, and The Witcher season 3 highlights Philippa and Dijkstra's plan to use him to bring Geralt's ward Ciri under their control. But they are far from the only party interested in the Lioncub of Cintra, and Radovid's growing attraction to Jaskier makes him harder to manipulate than they anticipated.

"It's Very Dark": The Witcher Season 3 Part 2 Teased With Unsettling Prospect Compared To Part 1
Image
Warning: This post contains spoilers for The Witcher season 3.The Witcher season 3 part 2 is about to become much darker. The Witcher follows Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) as he works to protect his ward, Princess Ciri (Freya Allan), from harm. Season 3 has, so far, followed along those lines as Geralt watches over her from imminent threat, and with Yennefer's (Anya Chalotra) help, they guide her to learn to defend herself and use her powers. However, with The Witcher season 3 acting as Cavill's final episodes as Geralt, it is expected that part 2 could have a tragic and game-changing ending.

Recently, The Witcher cast spoke to Et Online and were asked to tease about part 2. They unanimously implied that the situation in The Witcher season 3 is about to descend into darkness, indicating destruction, chaos, and blood on the horizon. Check out their quotes below:

Therica Wilson-Reed: “Chaos. Destruction. Chaos. I don’t...

The Witcher showrunner says season 3 will be more faithful to the source material
Image
The Witcher season 3 will be split into two batches of episodes, with the first batch reaching the Netflix streaming service on June 29th and the rest being released on July 27th. The show is inspired by a series of novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski, and a lot of fans were disappointed that season 2 strayed away from the source material. As the premiere of season 3 approaches, showrunner Lauren Schmidt-Hissrich has said that this season is going to be more faithful to Sapkowski’s work than the previous one.

Speaking to Collider, Schmidt-Hissrich said, “The truth is that we always obviously start from the books. But I talk a lot in interviews about the fact that you cannot go straight from a page to a screen. And so what we try to do and what I’ve always talked to Sapkowski about is keeping the tone of the books the same. And...
