It's been an emotional journey for Kate (Sarah Chalke) and Tully (Katherine Heigl), but will their friendship withstand more hurdles?
Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for the back half of Firefly Lane Season 2, which will bring the dramedy to an end for good.
The series has followed Kate and Tully's relationship over 30 years, and just like real-life, it hasn't been easy sailing for either of them.
The first half of the second season found the pair ending their years-long friendship, but fans were left with plenty of cliffhangers.
One of those cliffhangers involved Kate's ex-husband, Johnny Ryan (Ben Lawson), seemingly getting married to Tully.
"That's the thing about big life changes; you don't get to choose when they happen," Johnny Ryan shared in the new trailer. "You just have to hold on tight to the people you love and make your way through it."

“Life hasn’t really felt the same since I lost my best friend,” Tully Hart (Katherine Heigl) says at the beginning of the clip, which you can see above.
After realizing those words make it sound as if Kate (Sarah Chalke) has died, Tully quickly corrects herself.
“We just stopped speaking. She’s actually probably great,” she says.

Netflix’s new trailer for Firefly Lane season two part one shows there’s tension between Tully and Kate, but it sort of balances that out by revealing more about their lifelong friendship. Part one of the final season premieres on December 2, 2022, with season two part two arriving in 2023.
Season one of the drama, based on the bestselling novel by Kristin Hannah, debuted in February 2021 and starred Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke as lifelong best friends who stuck by each other’s side through thick and thin. Heigl and Chalke are back as Tully and Kate, respectively, for the second season. They’re joined by returning cast members Ben Lawson as Johnny Ryan, Ali Skovbye as young Tully, Roan Curtis as young Kate, Yael Yurman as Marah, and Beau Garrett as Cloud.

The end is nigh for Kate and Tully.
Netflix on Wednesday unveiled the trailer for the second and final season of Firefly Lane.
If first impressions are everything, the two best friends at the core of the series have a lot to work through.
"What could possibly have ended the tight-knit thirty year friendship of Tully and Kate, our Firefly Lane Girls Forever?" the official logline teases.
"We'll learn the answer this season -- but first -- Kate grapples with the painful aftermath of Johnny's ill-fated trip to Iraq, while Tully faces a lawsuit after walking away from her talk show, and must start her career over from the bottom."
"This leads her to search for answers about who she is and where she comes from -- including a quest to find the father she never met, against the wishes of her secretive hippie mother, Cloud," it adds.

Kate and Tully’s personal lives are a bit of a mess in the new trailer for Firefly Lane‘s final season — but at least they’ve got each other, and as many pints of ice cream as Tully can comfortably carry.
In the preview embedded above, Sarah Chalke and Katherine Heigl’s BFFs navigate everything from new professional endeavors (Tully’s making a documentary!) to complicated romances (Kate and Johnny aren’t really over, right?). And it seems their long friendship with one another might hit a few snags, too, if the 1:40-ish mark of the trailer is any indication.

It's official: season two of "Firefly Lane" is coming soon. The series follows two best friends named Tully (Katherine Heigl) and Kate (Sarah Chalke) and the ups and downs they've faced through the years. It's basically everything you love about soapy dramas like "Sweet Magnolias" and "Virgin River," with a twist of "This Is Us."
Unfortunately, the second season will be the series' last, Netflix revealed on Oct. 3. The final season will consist of a total of 16 episodes split into two parts.
Since the last episode of the first season ends on a major cliffhanger, we're already curious to know what will happen next. And given that it's based on Kristin Hannah's book series of the same name, there's plenty of inspiration to draw from. While there's no telling how closely the second season will follow the second book, "Fly Away," there are still plenty of storylines to explore in future episodes.

Love, loss and lifelong friendship is at the heart of Netflix’s latest binge worthy drama. Based on Kristin Hannah’s novel of the same name, Firefly Lane follows the decades-long friendship of Tully (Katherine Heigl) and Kate (Sarah Chalke) who meet as teen neighbors living on the titular street and are bonded by a chance encounter after a traumatic event. (Warning: This post contains spoilers for the Season 1 finale of Netflix’s “Firefly Lane” as well as the source novel by Kristin Hannah.)
Season 1 of Netflix’s new friendship drama “Firefly Lane” ends with a flashforward and a cliffhanger, leaving fans with a lot of unanswered questions about the relationship at the core of the show.
Without much in the way of explanation, the final moments of the season jump forward several years to the day of Kate’s (Sarah Chalke) father’s funeral (itself something of a season-long mystery with the identity of the deceased being withheld until the end) where it’s revealed that Kate and Tully (Katherine Heigl) are no longer friends. The duo, best friends through thick and thin since childhood, have apparently gone through something in those intervening years that was bad enough for them to call it quits.

With Wednesday’s release of Netflix’s Firefly Lane, we got to know future BFFs Tully Hart and Kate Mularkey — played as adults by Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke, respectively — just as they got to know one another. The former was portrayed as always having been gorgeous and outgoing, a star waiting to be born; the latter, bookish and reserved (as telegraphed by her ever-present glasses — TV shorthand for mousy). Yet they forged a relationship that lasted decades, at least until… dun dun Dun!

On the surface, the story and theoretical appeal of Netflix’s new drama Firefly Lane seem clear. It is a decades-spanning tale of female friendship, meant to inspire laughter and lunges for the tissue box in equal measure, as it follow two women who both envy and complete each other. And it puts together a pair of seasoned TV stars: Katherine Heigl as Tully, the glamorous and confident one, and Sarah Chalke as the more modest and meek Kate. Adapted by Maggie Friedman (Witches of East End) from the bestselling novel by Kristin Hannah,...

Netflix’s hyper-specific categories have become something of a punchline over the years. For every general collection of “comedies” and “reality TV,” there are ones like “critically acclaimed LGBTQ TV shows” (“Queer Eye” and “Tales of the City”), “Feel-Good Reality TV” (“The Great British Baking Show” and “Dream Home Makeover”) and “Oddballs and Outcasts” (“Sex Education” and assorted standup specials from men who were bullied in high school). At first, these subgenres just felt like cheeky ways to organize Netflix’s ever-ballooning library. Increasingly, though, it seems as if Netflix originals are pitched and written with an eye toward fitting into these esoteric characterizations.

Katherine Heigl is looking back on her time in the spotlight, including her perceived reputation for being "difficult."
The former Grey's Anatomy actress chatted with the Washington Post about her past and has said that how she was described in her twenties "pisses me off."
"I may have said a couple of things you didn't like, but then that escalated to 'she's ungrateful,' then that escalated to 'she's difficult,' and that escalated to 'she's unprofessional,'" the actress told the publication.
"What is your definition of difficult? Somebody with an opinion that you don't like? Now, I'm 42, and that s--- pisses me off."
Heigl appeared on Grey's Anatomy from 2005 to 2010 as Izzie Stevens, a role that earned her an Emmy award.
However, the actress chose to withdraw from the Emmy race the following year.
"I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination,...
