Firefly Lane’s second season is an emotional rollercoaster filled with heart, life changing moments, and most importantly, friendship. The series, which is inspired by Kristin Hannah’s beloved novel, follows the thirty year friendship of Tully (Katherine Heigl) and Kate (Sarah Chalke).

Netflix released the emotional trailer for the final season of the beloved drama starring Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke on Monday.

It's been an emotional journey for Kate (Sarah Chalke) and Tully (Katherine Heigl), but will their friendship withstand more hurdles?

Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for the back half of Firefly Lane Season 2, which will bring the dramedy to an end for good.

The series has followed Kate and Tully's relationship over 30 years, and just like real-life, it hasn't been easy sailing for either of them.

The first half of the second season found the pair ending their years-long friendship, but fans were left with plenty of cliffhangers.

One of those cliffhangers involved Kate's ex-husband, Johnny Ryan (Ben Lawson), seemingly getting married to Tully.

Netflix released the trailer for “Firefly Lane” Season 2, Part 2 on Monday, giving viewers a glimpse into the final installment of the adaptation of Kristin Hannah’s best-selling novel.

“Life hasn’t really felt the same since I lost my best friend,” Tully Hart (Katherine Heigl) says at the beginning of the clip, which you can see above.

After realizing those words make it sound as if Kate (Sarah Chalke) has died, Tully quickly corrects herself.

“We just stopped speaking. She’s actually probably great,” she says.

Originally set to stream on Thursday, June 8, the series will now return on Thursday, April 27. Star Katherine Heigl revealed the change in an Instagram post.

Netflix’s new trailer for Firefly Lane season two part one shows there’s tension between Tully and Kate, but it sort of balances that out by revealing more about their lifelong friendship. Part one of the final season premieres on December 2, 2022, with season two part two arriving in 2023.

Season one of the drama, based on the bestselling novel by Kristin Hannah, debuted in February 2021 and starred Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke as lifelong best friends who stuck by each other’s side through thick and thin. Heigl and Chalke are back as Tully and Kate, respectively, for the second season. They’re joined by returning cast members Ben Lawson as Johnny Ryan, Ali Skovbye as young Tully, Roan Curtis as young Kate, Yael Yurman as Marah, and Beau Garrett as Cloud.

Kate and Tully’s personal lives are a bit of a mess in the new trailer for Firefly Lane‘s final season — but at least they’ve got each other, and as many pints of ice cream as Tully can comfortably carry.

In the preview embedded above, Sarah Chalke and Katherine Heigl’s BFFs navigate everything from new professional endeavors (Tully’s making a documentary!) to complicated romances (Kate and Johnny aren’t really over, right?). And it seems their long friendship with one another might hit a few snags, too, if the 1:40-ish mark of the trailer is any indication.

Since the last episode of the first season ends on a major cliffhanger, we're already curious to know what will happen next. And given that it's based on Kristin Hannah's book series of the same name, there's plenty of inspiration to draw from. While there's no telling how closely the second season will follow the second book, "Fly Away," there are still plenty of storylines to explore in future episodes.

Netflix announced Monday that Firefly Lane will conclude with its forthcoming second season.

The news comes as a bit of a surprise, but there is some good news.

The second -- and now final season -- will comprise 16 episodes.

That is six more episodes than Firefly Lane Season 1, which launched in February 2021 on Netflix.

Firefly Lane returns on December 2, with the first nine episodes of the season.

The final seven episodes will then premiere in 2023.

Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke reprise their roles as lifelong best friends facing the ultimate test of their friendship and the path to sustain the other relationships in their lives.

Four new cast members join Season 2, including India de Beaufort (Charlotte), Greg Germann (Benedict), Jolene Purdy (Justine), and Ignacio Serricchio (Danny).

The former Grey's Anatomy actress chatted with the Washington Post about her past and has said that how she was described in her twenties "pisses me off."

The series is titled Doogie Kameāloha, M.D., and is a female-led reimagining of the classic ABC medical dramedy, the streamer announced Thursday.
