Marvel Studios' "Thunderbolts*" brought back Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian (David Harbour) from "Black Widow" and made him into an Avenger. But for a brief moment, Harbour led his very own superhero franchise.
In 2019, Harbour starred in Neil Marshall's "Hellboy." The experience wasn't a positive one; the movie was panned, attracting negative comparisons to the previous Guillermo del Toro "Hellboy" films which it was rebooting, and flopped. When "Black Widow" came out, Harbour said that playing Red Guardian helped him leave the disappointment of Hellboy behind.
Mike Mignola, the creator of the Hellboy character and comics, thereafter pushed forward with a second film reboot —"Hellboy: The Crooked Man," starring Jack Kesy as Hellboy. "The Crooked Man" didn't get a theatrical release stateside, but it found its audience on streaming. So, who knows, maybe there will be another Hellboy movie in...

Tornadoes can be terrifying, but that doesn't stop people from watching a movie about them. In real life, there are courageous storm chasers who start their potentially dangerous journey with one mission: to look a storm in its eye, or rather, get up close and personal to study it or admire its scary beauty. While when this happens in real life, fear takes over those at home getting alerts and warnings from meteorologists to take cover, movies like Twistersare entertainingly whirling up the charts. According to Flix Patrol, the 2024 film is among the top movies to watch on Prime Video.
It hasn't left the top ten on the chart and is currently staying in the top three. Twisters is a sequel to Twister (1996), which starred Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton. The Glen Powell-led production follows a clashing group of storm chasers who investigate a tornado outbreak in Oklahoma.

There may be no other working American actor as underrated as Sasha Lane in her generation. The 29-year-old Houston, TX native has been acting in movies and TV shows for nearly a decade now, and in that time, she's had relatively few starring roles. But her eye for projects has been consistently refined, and even her smaller performances have left an indelible mark on anyone who's been following her filmography.
It all began with the premiere of Lane's screen acting debut, "American Honey," in the main competition of the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, where she managed to steal the spotlight even next to such towering, acclaimed performances as Isabelle Huppert in "Elle," Kim Min-hee in "The Handmaiden," Sônia Braga in "Aquarius," Sandra Hüller in "Toni Erdmann," Kristen Stewart in "Personal Shopper," and Ruth Negga in "Loving." Since then, Lane has accrued just under 20 acting credits, with nearly all of those being in deeply interesting projects,...

Tom Holland will be best known to most audiences for his role as Spider-Man in the MCU, and understandably so. The actor first played the iconic superhero in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, returning in two Avengers films and leading three solo movies, culminating with Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021. Now, he's set to play the character once more in the announced Spider-Man 4, but he'll likely also be showing up in movies like Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Holland, however, also has a number of titles under his belt outside of the MCU. His first major movie was actually The Impossible in 2012, and he has since appeared in movies like In the Heart of the Sea (2015), The Devil All the Time (2020), Cherry (2021), and Uncharted (2022). Holland made a major career move in 2023, starring in his first ever TV show, a limited series for Apple TV+.

Tom Holland is one of the most popular young actors in Hollywood. However, that doesn't always translate to harmony on the set of every project.
Speaking to Men's Health, Holland revealed that his time working on the Apple TV+ series, The Crowded Room was marred by bad blood. "There was quite a lot of animosity on that set," he recalled. "It was not a very harmonious place, and there was a lot of arguing and butting heads." According to the actor, the disagreements were not about creative issues and often put his sobriety to the test. "I thought, if I start drinking again now, with all this going on, it's gonna get worse, right?"

Tom Holland is known for starring in some of the biggest movie franchises in the world, but he has also dabbled in the TV realm. Many critics failed to respond positively to The Crowded Room, but the Apple TV+ thriller was Holland's first leading role on television. The Crowded Room followed Danny Sullivan (Holland), a young man with Dissociative Identity Disorder (Did) who is arrested after being involved in a shooting in New York City in 1979. Due to the stress of making the series, Holland took a year-long acting break after finishing The Crowded Room. It was previously understood that the pressure of playing the complex character played a part in the decision, but Holland has also now revealed that the set was not "a very harmonious place."
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Holland revealed that the set of The Crowded Room was subject to frequent arguments and unrest.

Andrea Arnold’s Bird (2024), a Mubi release, is now playing in theaters.Bird.I have good news for those seeking a posthuman perspective on the class system. Andrea Arnold’s Bird (2024) combines a story of economic hardship with one of delicate animal life and sublime metamorphosis. If that sounds silly or trite, it isn’t remotely. The film centers on Bailey (Nykiya Adams), an adolescent living in a poor part of Kent, on the south coast of England, and one of millions of British children forced to endure the worst repercussions of conservative austerity since 2010. Like the characters of Arnold’s other films, such as Mia (Katie Jarvis) in Fish Tank (2009) and Star (Sasha Lane) in American Honey (2016), Bailey is poor, lacking in parental guidance, and as such, both bold and self-destructive. On the face of it, Bailey’s life is one of little hope, but an encounter with the...

Academy Award winner Andrea Arnold is taking her biggest risk yet with “Bird.”
Barry Keoghan and Franz Rogowski anchor a coming-of-age fable that spreads its wings with surrealism — expanding the world of a young girl (played by newcomer star Nykiya Adams) and Arnold’s filmography in the process.
“Cow” and “American Honey” filmmaker Arnold writes and directs “Bird,” which captures life on the “marginalized fringes of contemporary society” in north Kent, England. The film follows 12-year-old Bailey (Adams), who lives with her chaotic single dad Bug (Keoghan) and uncle Hunter (Jason Buda). But after she encounters nomad Bird (Rogowski), she realizes the meaning of adult friendship.
Jasmine Jobson, Joanne Matthews, James Nelson-Joyce, Rhys Yates, and Sarah Beth Harber also star.
The IndieWire review for “Bird” charted writer/director Arnold’s “shrewd” ability to direct young stars much like Katie Jarvis (“Fish Tank”) and Sasha Lane (“American Honey”), and now, Adams.

One of the longstanding bits of wisdom pertaining to the film industry comes from an immortal quote by W.C. Fields: “Never work with children or animals.” Though Fields’s quote is intended as a warning that those adorable subjects will always steal the spotlight from adult costars, the colloquial evolution of the phrase has come to signify that working with children and animals essentially means asking for a needlessly difficult production, hampered by beings lacking the capacity to fully understand the nuances of performing for an audience. Throughout her career, Andrea Arnold has made a concerted effort to show that the accepted wisdom is, to cite her homeland’s own colloquialisms, a load of bollocks.

For these new romance watchers, there are several shorter romance shows that are only one to two seasons long. These shows are short, sweet, and succinct, detailing the love stories of wonderful characters who are just as flawed as they are beloved. Despite Sally Rooney having two of her novels adapted into television series, fans can’t expect her third novel to hit the screen anytime soon.
In a conversation with The New York Times, the Normal People author revealed that she is not accepting any offers to adapt her 2021 third book, Beautiful World, Where Are You, following the success of adaptations Normal People and Conversations With Friends, both of which aired on BBC Three/Hulu.

Sony and Marvel Reportedly Negotiating a New Spider-Man Deal - Main Image
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has a very weird place in the Marvel universe, in that he’s a character that’s being loaned out to Marvel by Sony Pictures—who owns the rights to Spider-Man and all the characters associated with him.
Though Spider-Man gets to appear in his own movies and make cameos in team-up films like Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, it looks like he could be showing up a bit more down the line—that is, if this rumor turns out to be true.
More Spider-Man in the MCU Thanks to New Sony and Marvel Studios Deal
According to insider Daniel Rpk (via @HollywoodHandle), Sony and Marvel are currently working on a new deal that would ‘allow Spider-Man to appear in other MCU projects’. No furtherdetails have been revealed, but with Holland’s Spider-Man...

Films like Deadpool & Wolverine, Inside Out 2, and Alien: Romulus prove that audiences still want to see movies in theaters. However, not every new film this summer has been as successful as they are.
Despite many hits, not every movie released in the summer of 2024 has had the same success. The season saw some of the biggest flops in recent memory, from the abysmal performance of Borderlands to Kevin Costner's costly new Horizon franchise. Many of these films had massive budgets but failed to make back the money put into them. These are the summer's biggest box office flops so far, according to The Numbers.
A standard metric to calculate a film's success is that it must make back double its production budget to be profitable. While profitability can be complicated,...

Although Twisters was created as a standalone film, the ending created several opportunities for more stories to be told. Sasha Lane, who played a drone operator named Lily, recently revealed that the cast has talked about a sequel.
"I don't know. We always make jokes about it, like Twisters in space, Twisters underwater, Twisters in New York, like, what are we doing?" Lane told ComicBookMovie when asked if a follow-up had been discussed. The actor also shared her hopes for her character if a sequel was eventually given the green light. "I don't know. Very curious. I have no idea. Just maybe some more action from Lily, it'd be really cool to see a lot more drone work, actually."
