Derrick Burbage is a former veteran State Trooper and Deputy Sheriff. He also spent time during the war in Afghanistan, working as a government contractor on an armed mission training the new Afghan National Police force and as an armored convoy driver, safely escorting military convoys throughout the region. Derrick's vast experience in law enforcement, high-speed vehicle pursuit training, military convoy operations, and light and heavy weapons training provide him with the knowledge and experience to perform these skills well for the camera.
Derrick got his start in the film business in 2013 where he has continued to work on perfecting his skills as a stunt performer and actor. Derrick's law enforcement and advanced vehicle training began in 1998 at the Criminal Justice Academy where he graduated 1st in his class winning the prestigious JP Strom Award. He also spent time at The Crucible, where he learned tactical combat vehicle operations, combat training, Dignitary escort and emergency evac skills among many others. He has spent the last 23 years training with driving, firearms, and other law enforcement and military related skills. Derrick has experience training other law enforcement officers safe driving skills and has also safely been involved in HUNDREDS of REAL-LIFE high-speed vehicle pursuits.
In 2016, Derrick began his professional stunt driver training by attending Drivers East Stunt driving school in New Jersey, where he learned from some of the best stunt drivers currently working in the business. Derrick continues to perfect his stunt driving skills by regularly training with fellow professional stunt drivers at Dynamic Stunts in Atlanta, GA. He also continues to add other skills to his repertoire by training with stunt performers at ATL Stunts in Atlanta and privately with other performers.
Derrick is hard-working, takes direction well, has an impeccable record of safety, and you can count on him to "show up" and perform to the best of his abilities at all times.
