A year later, Tom Brady is still trying to live down his roast and its adverse effect on his family.

Reflecting on Netflix‘s The Greatest Roast of All Time, the 7x Super Bowl champ said he doesn’t want to see his “kids hurt” the way they did after hearing some of the jokes on the live-streamed event.

“When you were in that moment, in that theater that night at the Forum, it was electric. It was crazy. We got done, everybody was on cloud nine. That moment, I’ll never forget. And then I’ll never forget when I talked to my kids the next day,” he said on the Impaulsive podcast. “I felt like a stake through the heart.”

Brady noted that he was fine with the jokes that took a shot at him, but he wasn’t as prepared for those at the expense of ex-wife Gisele Bündchen and their children.

Pic also features Grammy winners Roddy Ricch, Ella Mai and Macy Gray, with five-time nominee Swae Lee, Quavo and NBA star Chris Paul also joining the cast. Paul plays himself, hosting a Met Gala-like event for avid sneakerheads seen in the film.

The family movie follows a pair of one-of-a-kind, collector sneakers, Ty (Anthony Mackie), and Maxine (Chloe Bailey), stolen by ‘the Collector’ (Laurence Fishburne). In their attempt to escape, Ty ends up separated from his sister in the middle of NYC. Alone, and desperate to find her, Ty meets with Jb (Martin Lawrence), a streetwise, scuffed up sneaker with an affinity for anything shiny, learning that your best life begins when you get out of your box.

These roasts are notorious for the highly offensive jokes their dais tends to deliver, but they never fail to entertain the fans.

The Roast of Tom Brady featured iconic comedians like Kevin Hart, Nikki Glaser, Sam Jay, Andrew Schulz, and the roast master himself, Jeff Ross. The dais also featured a bunch of former NFL players like Rob Gronkowski, Peyton Manning, Drew Bledsoe, Julian Edelman, and a few more.

Kim Kardashian and Ben Affleck made guest appearances on the show, while former New English Patriots coach Bill Belichick and owner Robert Kraft were also present.

Carver, who also recently exec produced Max’s Julia Child drama Julia, has joined the company as a manger based in LA.

It is the latest expansion for UK-founded firm Avalon in the U.S., where it has added six manager in the U.S. and struck a partnership with literary talent at The Agency.

Following the May 6 roast of The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady, Brady said on The Pivot Podcast that he enjoyed when comedians took humorous jabs about nearly all aspects of his life but that he didn’t care for the jabs aimed at his family, adding that the comments impacted his children, “the people [he] care[s] about most in the world.”

“I feel like maybe he didn’t consider the backlash from his family and how it would affect them, and I do understand that,” Glaser said on Wednesday’s Today with Hoda and Jenna.

Tom Brady’s first roast will likely be his last.

During an appearance on “The Pivot Podcast,” the retired quarterback revealed that some of the jokes made during his recent Netflix roast poorly affected his children and that he wouldn’t sign up to do it again. While he didn’t specify the jokes in question, many of the comedians who took the stage targeted his high-profile marriage and divorce to Gisele Bündchen, with whom he has two kids. (Brady also has a third child with Bridget Moynahan.)

And while the seven-time Super Bowl champion seemed to roll with the punches and even deliver a few of his own, he recently explained why he regretted his decision.

Speaking on his experience with the roast, Brady indicated he “loved” many of the jokes focused on him.

Despite the fun and laughs entertaining a massive live audience and many Netflix viewers, the retired NFL star revealed why he wouldn’t endure it again.

Bert Kreischer made a joke involving his bag of nicotine patches during The Tom Brady Roast. Then it morphed into an accusation about cocaine, he told Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday, taking things into dangerous territory.

Kreischer had nicotine patches in a can in his pocket, but he was informed by the director of the roast that they were too distracting. “So I said, ‘Okay, and I put them in a little bag,'” he said. But that led ridicule by comedian Sam Jay.

Nikki Glaser was one of the highlights of Netflix’s Tom Brady roast, eviscerating the NFL superstar with jokes about his divorce from Gisele Bündchen and her reported new romance with Jiu-Jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente. One of the early moments from the comedy special that went viral was when the seven-time Super Bowl champion got off of his seat to whisper something to Jeff Ross.

As the “Roastmaster General,” Ross came on stage to roast Brady, and one particular joke seemingly ticked off the former football player.

The 46-year-old NFL great will be picked apart by a bunch of celebrities and comedians in The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady, a live special airing Sunday (May 5) at 5 p.m. Pdt (8 p.m. Est) only on Netflix.

It will be the first-ever roast that will be telecast live, and unedited as part of Netflix Is a Joke Fest.

The Duchess, otherwise known as Meghan Markle, has signed a new podcast deal with Lemonada Media, the company behind Wiser Than Me with Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

The move will see her launch a new podcast series and Lemonada will also distribute her previous Spotify series Archetypes to all podcast platforms.

It comes after her and her husband Prince Harry parted ways with Spotify last year.

There are no details of the show yet, but Meghan will host the as yet untitled series.

Archetypes, which was previously a Spotify exclusive, will be rolled out to all audio platforms with Lemonada distributing. The series has recorded over 10M downloads, around a million listens per episode and debuted as Spotify’s No.1 podcast in 47 countries around the world when it launched in August 2022.

The series explored the labels that try to hold women back.

Writers from late-night shows including Last Week Tonight, The Daily Show and The Late Show among others are heading to the Primetime Emmys after the Television Academy performed a U-turn on its decision to exclude a key writing category from the main awards.

The TV Academy, Fox and the WGA have reached an agreement to include the Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series category, which also includes nominees Late Night with Seth Meyers and Saturday Night Live, during the live telecast.

The TV Academy, which runs the Emmys, set to air on Fox on January 15, had previously stated that the award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series was set to be handed out at the Creative Arts Emmys, rather than during the Primetime show.

It had been replaced by Outstanding Variety Special (Live) in November.

The Writers Guild of America continues to express its displeasure with the exclusion of some writing categories from the 75th Emmy Awards.

The guild sent out a petition on Tuesday signed by more than 1,400 members, urging the Television Academy to reinstate the “Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series/Special” categories in the primetime Emmy Awards telecast.

Along with the petition was a letter signed by several comedians who are eligible for these categories, including Michael Che, Stephen Colbert, Adam Conover, Jimmy Fallon, Sam Jay, Bomani Jones, Colin Jost, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, Trevor Noah, John Oliver, Amber Ruffin, Jon Stewart, and Robin Thede.

In a collective statement, the group of comedians wrote: “As hosts of series eligible for the Emmy Awards’ ‘Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series/Special’ categories, we are profoundly disappointed by the Television Academy’s decision to not present this award during the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards...

It’s been a strange year for late-night and things are only going to get weirder.

All of the late-night shows were dark between May and October as as a result of the writers strike and the genre lost one of its longer-running shows as The Late Late Show, which has run for over 5,000 episodes since 1995, is to be replaced by an old Comedy Central game show.

The change hasn’t been quite as significant as last year when James Corden and Trevor Noah revealed they’d be stepping down, Warner Bros. Discovery’s new regime killed Samantha Bee’s Full Frontal and Desus & Mero, who, for some, were the duo to reinvigorate the field, broke up.
