Michael C. Hall and Patrick Gibson in Dexter: Original Sin (2024)
“Dexter: Original Sin” Prequel Series Gets Season 2 Renewal
Michael C. Hall and Patrick Gibson in Dexter: Original Sin (2024)
The highly popular prequel series “Dexter: Original Sin” was the most streamed original for Showtime in a decade, per The Wrap, so it’s no surprise that the show has been renewed for Season 2 at Paramount+ with Showtime.

“Dexter” showrunner Clyde Phillips will return for the series’ second season.

“Dexter: Original Sin” is set in 1991 Miami and revolves around Dexter (Patrick Gibson) as he goes from student to avenging serial killer. With guidance from his father, Harry (Christian Slater), the killer-in-training adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people without being discovered by law enforcement at the same time as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.

The rest of the Morgan family include Christian Slater as Harry Morgan, Patrick Gibson as Dexter Morgan and Molly Brown as Debra Morgan.

The series also stars Joe Pantoliano (Bound, The Matrix, “Chucky”) are Brittany Allen...

Dexter: Original Sin episode 7 recap and review: The Big Bad Body Problem
Image
Dexter: Original Sin is back from its hiatus this week, and what an episode with which to return! Last we saw Dexter (Patrick Gibson), he was facing two big problems: a former victim’s lower arm had resurfaced in the Everglades and made Dexter’s dumping grounds an active crime scene, and the body of a new victim lay in the back of his truck.

With the return of episode 7, Original Sin drops a huge bombshell as the search for Nicky Spencer (London Thatcher) continues. Additionally in this week’s recap, Deb (Molly Brown) compromises her future, Laura (Brittany Allen) finally meets Hector Estrada (Carlo Mendez), and Dexter works out his big, bad body problem against a backdrop decorated with Easter eggs.

Adam Rose/Paramount+ with Showtime. Dexter’s big, bad body problem

Episode 7 opens right where episode 6 left off with Dexter driving up to his dumping spot in...

Dexter: Original Sin episode 6 recap and review: The Joy of Killing
Image
There’s a lot going on this week in Dexter: Original Sin episode 6, mostly centered around big moments for Dexter (Patrick Gibson) as he evolves further into adulthood, into his knack for crime scene forensics, and as an official vigilante serial killer.

Additionally, Harry (Christian Slater) adjusts to his new demotion at work while continuing to flash back to his time with Laura Moser (Brittany Allen), Deb (Molly Brown) plans a double date for her and Gio (Isaac Gonzalez Rossi) with Dexter and Sofia (Raquel Justice), and Miami Metro faces another another high-profile kidnapping.

Here’s a full recap and review of episode 6!

Another child is kidnapped

Episode 6 opens with another kidnapping of a high-profile official’s kid. Unfortunately for Miami Metro, it’s Nicky (London Thatcher), Captain Spencer’s (Patrick Dempsey) son. It appears to be the same guy who kidnapped Jimmy Powell (Brayden Gleave) in episode 2, as Nicky...

Dexter: Original Sin episode 4 recap and review: Fender Bender
Image
If last week’s episode of Dexter: Original Sin was the best yet, episode 4, “Fender Bender”, is by far the one with the biggest blindside. It ends in a moment that can only be encapsulated by words, which I’ll hit you to a little further along in this week’s recap.

As Dexter (Patrick Gibson) targets an alleged retired mob hitman, Harry (Christian Slater) works a disturbing murder case that triggers past trauma, and Deb (Molly Brown)—who’s growing angrier by the second—rebels her way right into the arms of some tall, dark, and handsome serious potential danger. Spoilers Below.

Harry works a disturbing case

Episode 4 opens drearily, as the body of a 10-year-old boy is found hanging from a bridge. It's Jimmy Powell (Brayden Gleave). It’s quite a disturbing scene that affects everyone at their core. In fact, Dexter can’t even process the scene.

Dexter: Original Sin episode 3 recap and review: Miami Vice
Image
Episode 3 of Dexter: Original Sin is hands-down the best of the series so far. Titled "Miami Vice", the episode continues creating tension as it introduces legacy character Maria Laguerta, exposes more revelations about Harry and Deb, and sees Dexter stalk, capture, and take down his second victim while attempting to navigate a love interest. In case you missed it, here's a detailed recap and review of what went down. Spoilers Below.

Maria Laguerta arrives at Miami Metro. Photo Credit: Patrick Wymore/Paramount+ with Showtime. Maria Laguerta makes an entrance at Miami Metro

It's been awesome to see Dexter character favorites in this prequel, such as Vince Masuka (Alex Shimizu) and Det. Angel Batista (James Martinez). Episode 3 ups the ante and shows us the moment when Maria Laguerta (Christina Milian) first arrived at Miami Metro.

She makes quite the entrance, right on the heels of the media frenzy around the Jimmy Powell case.

Dexter: Original Sin episode 2 recap and review: A Kid in a Candy Store
Image
I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve been waiting on a Dexter prequel series since we were first introduced to the lovable anti-hero protagonist in 2006. As such, I’m super stoked to report to you that Dexter: Original Sin is righteously living up to the task. Though it’s early on in the series, it’s doing a bang-up job of satiating our curiosity to know more about Dexter’s life as a kid living with and learning to tame a “Dark Passenger”. Episode 2 takes us deeper into the vigilante serial killer’s young psyche and introduces us to more of his crucial first moments.

In the original series, we learn Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) is a top-notch blood spatter analyst for Miami Metro Homicide. He’s also a vigilante serial killer, who only takes out other killers. He’s lived with an urge for...

A little over a year ago, Showtime announced that they were ordering a series – then known as Dexter: Origins, now known as Dexter: Original Sin – that would serve as a prequel series to their popular show Dexter, which finished its eight season initial run back in 2013, then recently came back for a new season (called Dexter: New Blood) that appeared to wrap things up, but apparently didn’t. Dexter: Original Sin went into production a few months ago, and now a first look trailer has arrived online, along with a premiere date that’s much sooner than I was expecting. The trailer can be seen in the embed above, and the premiere date is December 13th on the Paramount+ streaming service, with the Showtime premiere to follow on December 15th.

Image
Exclusive: Amanda Brooks (Super Pumped) has been in a recurring role on the Showtime series Dexter: Original Sin. Production is underway in Los Angeles with Clyde Phillips at the helm.

Michael C. Hall Returning To ‘Dexter’ Universe For New Series ‘Resurrection’ & ‘Original Sin’ – Comic-Con
Image
Showtime’s Dexter returned to San Diego Comic-Con on Friday night with a very special guest in tow, Michael C. Hall.

It’s not a Dexter Con without Dexter, and this evening there were two in attendance: Hall and Patrick Gibson, the latter of who plays the younger version of the former’s character in the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin. Hall serves as narrator of the 90s-set series, which will premiere in December.

Additionally, Hall will star in Dexter: Resurrection, a new series that is set in present day and is a followup to the 2021 Dexter: New Blood. It will launch in summer 2025.

“It’s pretty heady,” said Hall, after receiving a standing ovation in Ballroom 20. He’s also an EP on both series. “I’m having flashbacks of the first time I came to Comic-Con. We were in this hall. That was … 75 years ago? It’s amazing to still be alive.

‘One Day At A Time’ Team Talks How Show Grounds The Latinx Experience And “Builds Bridges” To One Another – PaleyFest LA
Image
Former State Representative and founder of Fair Fight Stacy Abrams was the perfect moderator for the One Day At A Time panel. For one, she is an activist and advocate for many issues that the reimagining of the classic Norman Lear sitcom embrace, but also because she is a true fan of the show. At the beginning of the virtual panel, Abrams just wanted Rita Moreno to say her name so that she could tell her family it happened.

“Stacey Abrams! Stacey Abrams! Stacey Abrams!” Moreno playfully sang.

“Ok, that was awesome…I’m leaving now,” Abrams gushed as the rest of the cast and creators on the panel laughed.

Abrams and Moreno were joined on the PaleyFest panel by Executive Producers Mike Royce, Brent Miller & Gloria Calderon Kellett as well as stars Justina Machado, Isabella Gomez, Marcel Ruiz, Todd Grinnell, Stephen Tobolowsky, India de Beaufort, Sheridan Pierce, Ed Quinn and Raquel Justice.
