The Fox procedural drama, created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear, serves as a spinoff of 9-1-1 and premiered in January 2020. Led by Rob Lowe, the cast of 9-1-1: Lone Star is made up of actors and actresses playing first responders, including firefighters, paramedics, and police officers, in Texas (hence the "Lone Star" part of the show's title).

The future is looking bleak for 9-1-1: Lone Star. It was recently revealed that series star Sierra McClain will not return as a regular for Season 5, and it was reported that the show is expected to end following her exit.

However, as of this time, the series hasn't been officially canceled just yet. Even so, the news has gotten the attention of the actors from the show. Rafael Silva (Carlos Reyes) has offered a reaction with a post on Instagram Stories (per TVLine). The actor simply wrote, "Wherever the ship sails, [Im] grateful for the family Ive created on this show." Ronen Rubinstein (T.K. Strand) similarly took to his Instagram Stories to add a response, reiterating that the show hasn't been axed for the time being.

Season 5 of the Fox procedural has been pushed back to fall 2024, TVLine has confirmed. It was expected to return this spring along with many other network TV shows after the dual Hollywood writers’ and actors’ strikes were resolved. Instead, it will now wait until next fall, when it will return for a 12-episode fifth season.

The move of flagship 9-1-1 to ABC was announced in May. Now its spinoff, 9-1-1: Lone Star, which was renewed for a fifth season by Fox in May, will not return with new episodes this spring. Instead, the drama starring Rob Lowe will produce 12 episodes to air in fall 2024, making fans’ wait for Season 5 extra long.

Like any other linear or streaming series, 9-1-1: Lone Star has been impacted by the double Hollywood strikes. Earlier this fall, Fox and producing studio 20th Television had been discussing an 18-episode order — six episodes for midseason — and 12 for fall, sources said. As the SAG-AFTRA strike stretched into November, those plans changed, and the two sides ultimately agreed on 12 episodes for fall 2024.

Fox needs 9-1-1: Lone Star next fall.

Fox is bringing in some repeats of 9-1-1: Lone Star to its fall schedule as it tries to remind viewers that scripted drama still has a place on broadcast TV amid the writers and actors strikes.

The move sees unscripted competition series I Can See Your Voice, which has completed production of its third season, to midseason.

Season 4 of 9-1-1: Lone Star will air starting on Tuesday September 19 at 9 pm, after season 3 of Name That Tune.

The hope is that it can get some traction for the return of 9-1-1: Lone Star with its fifth season once the dual strikes are over. It comes as the show’s parent show 9-1-1 was not renewed by Fox in May, instead set to move to ABC, whose sibling studio 20th TV produces, once the strikes are over.
