Only One Book Available for Adaption? Stick to A Limited Series
Image
While book-to-screen adaptations are not new, they’ve become more popular on streaming services.

Some of these series are billed as easily bingeable and quick miniseries based on one novel, while others last several seasons and are based on an entire book series.

However, sometimes these limited series drag on too long. If there is only one source material book, it’s often better to complete the story in one season to continuously renew it and drag it out for no reason.

(Jennifer Clasen/HBO)

Some creators saw how well their show did in the ratings or the awards shows and assumed it was a bona fide hit, but then the quality decreased in the subsequent seasons.

When The Plot Wraps Up, Don’t Do Another Season

Our biggest gripe is that so many of these book-to-screen adaptations were meant to be limited series, and the plots were meant to wrap up,...

If you still remember teen fantasy shows like The Vampire Diaries and Riverdale that went on for far too long, even after their stories had no steam left, but you might not remember the shows in this list, as they had so much more story to tell, but they were canceled way too soon. Teen fantasy shows were all the rage in the 2010s and that’s why there were so many of them but most of them didn’t hit as hard as The Vampire Diaries or Teen Wolf, but that doesn’t mean that the shows that were canceled were not as good or even better then these two shows. That’s the reason why we decided to compile a list of seven great (or underrated) teen fantasy shows that had great potential but were canceled way too soon.

‘13 Reasons Why’ Released 8 Years Ago but Netflix Was Too Late in Deleting Its Most Graphic Scene That Traumatized Viewers
Image
It’s been eight years since Netflix released 13 Reasons Why, the series that nearly traumatized its viewers due to scenes depicting s*icide, violence, and the like. Who would ever forget the bathtub scene where Hannah Baker took her own life? Or that broomstick scene in Season 2 that almost turned our stomachs upside down?

There were so many triggering moments in this show that even years after it aired on the streaming platform, the memory of them still gives us shivers. Because of the backlash, Netflix and a voluntary health organization have agreed to edit and remove one controversial scene.

Dylan Minnette and Katherine Langford in 13 Reasons Why / Credits: Netflix Netflix removed Hannah Baker’s s**cide scene in 13 Reasons Why

Fans first heard Katherine Langford’s Hannah Baker’s story in 13 Reasons Why back on March 31, 2017, in a series of tapes she recorded before she took her own life.

Daredevil: Born Again has a deep cut to the Infinity Stones
Image
Some seven years after Netflix’s acclaimed Daredevil series was unceremoniously axed, the Man Without Fear is back and making himself at home in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While Daredevil and the rest of the Defender-centric shows lived in their own MCU purgatory, Marvel Studios is finally free to do what it wants with its street-level heroes and villains. With it, Daredevil: Born Again has already planted itself firmly in the MCU with nods to the wider world.

Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock already stopped by for brief cameos in Echo, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, while Vincent D’Onforio’s Wilson Fisk/Kingpin survived a run-in with a bullet in Hawkeye and popped up in the Echo miniseries, too. Despite D’Onofrio repeatedly saying Kingpin won’t be the big bad of the upcoming Spider-Man 4, and no Born Again cast members appeared in that achingly long Avengers: Doomsday roll call,...

Seth Rollins Confirms His 'Captain America 4' Role Has Been Cut

WWE superstar Seth Rollins was initially set to appear in Captain America: Brave New World as a mysterious villain, but reshoots have not just reduced his role but completely cut him out of the movie. Captain America: Brave New World is the first Marvel Cinematic Universe film of 2025 and has one of the most troubled productions in the franchise's history. Despite some strong trailers and the excitement around Harrison Ford as the Red Hulk, the movie has been plagued with behind-the-scenes rumors of a troubled film that has undergone many delays to accommodate rewrites and reshoots.

4 good shows like Shadow and Bone to watch if you miss the fantasy series
Image
I can't believe it's been a little over a year since Netflix announced the sad news that Shadow and Bone had been cancelled. The streamer shared the update back in November 2023. Since then, many of us fans have still been thinking about the fantasy series.

Now, look. Season 2 was not my cup of tea and I did not enjoy it very much overall. However, because of how great season 1 was, it's following, and with so much more story still left to tell, I do think Netflix should have given the series one more shot.

But, here we are in this unfortunate position still. That doesn't mean the fantastical tale doesn't cross our minds every once in a while. If you're like me and looking for something to give you the same vibes, I've got your back. Here's 4 good shows like Shadow and Bone to watch if you miss the fantasy series.

Spontaneous Ending Explained: Why The Teens Were Exploding
Image
For a story about a horrific subject like teenagers exploding for no reason, Spontaneous ends on a cautiously optimistic note. Although it never answers any pressing questions, the dark comedy guides its heroine Mara (Katherine Langford) away from a terrifying situation that few of her friends escaped from. Based on the book of the same name by Aaron Starmer, Spontaneous's movie follows highschool seniors Mara and Dylan (Charlie Plummer). As their young love begins to blossom, a terrifying occurrence begins to take place: members of the senior class begin to spontaneously combust with absolutely no explanation at all.

Mara and Dylan have to fight to make it out of Spontaneous' ending alive in a situation that is completely out of their control. Despite the fact that Spontaneous's teenage characters are exploding around them, Dylan and Mara manage to fall in love. Tragically, near Spontaneous's ending, Dylan combusts right before Mara's eyes.

This Funny, Bloody Horror Comedy With 96% on Rotten Tomatoes Just Hit Paramount+
Image
Brian Duffield's 2020 directorial debut feature gives an "explosive love story" a whole new meaning. Sharp, crass and wickedly funny, Spontaneous is a horror comedy built upon the most outrageous premise yet somehow manages to find real emotion and meaning hidden among its folds or blood splatters. Katherine Langford and Charlie Plummer share the blood-soaked screen and deliver us a whimsical romance between two teenagers who are navigating the throes of high school, plus some. Alongside the comical love story is a biting commentary that reveals the film's huge thematic ambitions, ones seeped in ambiguity that becomes far more provoking than if they spoon-fed us a rational explanation. And while it is interesting to peel back the layers of the film, Spontaneous truly thrives when it is captivating and spraying us with gallows humor, unexpected emotion and exhilarating nihilism.

Morgan Stark Allegedly Making Comeback to the MCU - Main Image

Morgan Stark only appeared in Avengers: Endgame, but she managed to be an integral emotional anchor for Tony Stark and the entire plot.

Though she has mostly been forgotten since the events of the last Avengers film, there is a chance she could be coming back to the MCU—and Marvel already has an actress in mind.

Is Morgan Stark Returning to the MCU?

Insider @MyTimeToShineH (via @update_marvel) reports that Morgan Stark could be returning to the MCU. She would be played by 13 Reasons Why star Katherine Langford.

Admittedly, Lexi Rabe played Morgan in Avengers: Endgame, but anyone who pays attention to deleted scenes knows that Langford was originally cast as an adult Morgan Stark who visits Tony during his vision after he uses the Infinity Gauntlet—not unlike the scene where Thanos snaps his fingers and has...

Marvel's biggest missed opportunity is reportedly returning to the MCU
Image
Marvel Studios had a pretty flawless run throughout its Infinity Saga. Sure, some movies were weaker than others, and not all of its run was smooth-sailing, but for the most part, the Marvel Cinematic Universe's long-form storytelling was a game-changing hit, enjoying levels of consistent box office success that had never been seen before, and acclaim from both fans and critics.

Avengers: Endgame brought about an incredible culmination to that story, leaving fans feeling all kinds of emotions. The Avengers' defeat of Thanos was a bittersweet moment as it came with the sacrifice of Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man. It was a heartbreaking conclusion that brought about the end of one era and the beginning of another.

One character was involved in that in a very effective manner, but there were almost two versions of that same character in that movie. Now, we might finally see the second...

Avengers: Endgame's Cut Morgan Stark, Katherine Langford, Rumored To Be In Line For Upcoming MCU Return
Image
There was a lot of hype and speculation surrounding Katherine Langford's mystery role in Avengers: Endgame leading up to the movie's 2019 release, but when we finally sat down to watch that instant classic, the actor was nowhere to be seen.

It was later revealed that the Knives Out star had been cast as an adult Morgan Stark who'd have met her father in the same Soul Stone "Waystation" where Thanos crossed paths with Gamora in Avengers: Infinity War. We've since seen the deleted scene and, while it was a touching moment, it ultimately didn't fit into the three-hour blockbuster.

Today, scooper @MyTimeToShineH brings word that there are plans for Langford to reprise her role as Morgan in a future MCU project. We don't think this would be an adult version of the little girl introduced in Avengers: Endgame (the timings don't quite work), so it's likely the Multiverse will come into play.

The medieval fantasy Netflix series Cursed was canceled after one season, eliminating the possibility of a Cursed season 2. Cursed premiered in July 2020 with a 10-episode first season, but a year passed without any updates, leaving the series' fate unknown. Then, in the aftermath of other cancelations that included four original comedy shows, Cursed also got the ax from Netflix, with its title becoming an ironic self-fulfilling prophecy. In season 1, Nimue (Katherine Langford) is shunned by her Fey village as she's believed to be cursed, but in actuality, Nimue's destined to become the magical Lady of the Lake.

Along the way, Nimue joins forces with a young King Arthur (Devon Terrell) on a quest to find Merlin (Gustaf Skarsgrd) and deliver Excalibur. Given the widespread appeal of fantasy content in today's streaming world and Netflix's own prowess in the genre with shows like The Witcher, it comes as a bit of...

Image
The series of murder mysteries that began with the 2019 film Knives Out and continued with the 2022 film Glass Onion is set to keep on going with Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, which has writer/director Rian Johnson back at the helm. Johnson and his collaborators are being very secretive about this project right now, but there’s a lot of hype for it – so we figured this would be a good time to start assembling a list of Everything We Know About Wake Up Dead Man. Here we go:

13 Reasons Why: What Hannah Baker's 13 Reasons Were
Image
Hannah's first reason for her suicide was Justin Foley, who started a rumor about her that tarnished her reputation. Meanwhile, Alex Standall contributed to a "Hot List" that further damaged Hannah's reputation and sparked aggression from others. Jessica Davis, Hannah's former friend, turned against her and bullied her after their friendship ended. Her friend Courtney also contributed by hiding the truth. The biggest reason involved Bryce Walker, who sexually assaulted both Hannah and Jessica.

This article contains mentions of suicide, self-harm, drug abuse, and sexual assault.

Netflix's 13 Reasons Why initially told the story of Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford) and the titular 13 reasons she chose to take her own life but what were Hannah's 13 reasons? 13 Reasons Why was based on the book of the same name by Jay Asher. Like the book, the show appeared to tell a self-contained story of Hannah Baker - exploring the lead-up to and direct aftermath of her suicide.

In a surprise twist sure to send shockwaves through the Marvel fandom, Robert Downey Jr. is making his long-awaited return to the MCU – but not in the role that made him a household name. As confirmed by Marvel Studio president Kevin Feige and Avengers directors the Russo Brothers at San Diego Comic-Con, Downey Jr. will take on the iconic villainous mantle of Doctor Doom in upcoming Avengers films.

Fans bid a bittersweet farewell to Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark/Iron Man in 2019’s record-shattering Avengers: Endgame, which concluded over a decade of the actor leading the MCU. His memorable final scene, sacrificing himself to defeat Thanos, left a stark impact on viewers. But this new casting opens the door for Tony to potentially live on in alternate realities within the ever-expanding multiverse.

According to Feige and the Russo Brothers, a deleted scene from Endgame featured Katherine Langford in a poignant...

Robert Downey Jr.'s MCU Return Can Finally Deliver On The Promise Of 1 Emotional Avengers: Endgame Deleted Scene
Image
Katherine Langford's scene as a grown-up Morgan Stark was cut from Avengers: Endgame. Robert Downey Jr.'s return to the MCU means Katherine Langford could also return, whether as Morgan Stark or an alternate version connected to Doctor Doom. This could set up a hugely emotional moment in Doomsday or Secret Wars, as Morgan Stark may come face-to-face with a villain who looks like her late father.

Robert Downey Jr. is coming back to the MCU, which could present the perfect opportunity for an emotional deleted scene from Avengers: Endgame to finally be seen in live-action. Downey Jr. was the face of the MCU from his debut in 2008's Iron Man till his departure in 2019's Avengers: Endgame, but the latter marked a huge transition for the armored Avenger. Endgame revealed Tony Stark to be a father, as Morgan Stark was during the McU's five-year-long Blip, but not all...

1 Deleted Robert Downey Jr. Moment From Civil War Would Have Badly Messed Things Up in Avengers: Endgame
Image
One deleted moment in Captain America: Civil War could have ruined the entire arc of Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man. In an earlier draft of the movie, Tony Stark makes a statement that implies that he and Pepper Potts are having a baby. While the characters eventually have a baby in the MCU, it happens much later in the films. Stark’s very young daughter served as one of the biggest emotional factors in Iron Man’s final appearance.

Another scene was cut from Avengers: Endgame, an interaction between Tony Stark and a very adult Morgan Stark, played by Katherine Langford, in the Soul World. This scene would’ve also confused fans and negatively impacted his scenes with Lexi Rabe’s young Morgan in the film.

Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man receives less fan love than these superheroes in the MCU. When fans were asked to poll on the best superhero trilogy in the MCU, most of them chose Chris Evans’ Captain America trilogy and James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy. While the first Iron Man film remains one of the best films in the 30 billion-dollar franchise, Downey Jr.’s third film had unfavorable opinions, which made it many people’s third favorite trilogy.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery Announced for 2025
Image
Benoit Blanc returns in his most dangerous case yet. Filmmaker Rian Johnson and Netflix have announced Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the third installment that will debut in 2025.

We first met the famed private detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) in 2019’s Knives Out when he was hired to investigate the death of best-selling author Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer). Blanc teamed up with nurse Marta Cabrera (Ana de Armas) to uncover the truth in a twisted case filled with angry relatives, red herrings, and fabulous knitwear.

Blanc’s skills were called upon once more in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, when he headed to Greece to peel back the layers of intrigue surrounding tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) and an eclectic group of disruptors.

Blanc was last seen sitting on the beach of Bron’s estate on an idyllic Greek island, calmly pondering the chaotic events of his past few days.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe lost its biggest hero when Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man fell in Avengers: Endgame, but not after saving the day/Earth 616. Ever since then, the MCU has struggled to create the kind of projects that made it such a global success in the first place.

While most fans have asked for Kevin Feige and company to focus on originality and come up with new narratives that delve into the wealth of characters the Comics have on offer, some have also pressed for a Robert Downey Jr. return. Whether that is a potential option especially considering the actor’s own wishes, Feige had previously claimed they would ‘never want to mafically undo’ Stark’s heroic death.
