Heroes will rise, legends will fall, and it's time for a cosmic throwdown. DC Comics has announced its next comic book event by co-architects Joshua Williamson and Scott Snyder: DC K.O.!
This fall, the gloves come off as the greatest superheroes in the universe enter the arena in a thunderous tournament where the stakes are sky-high, and the cost of victory may be too steep to bear. Starting in October, this publishing event puts heroes to the ultimate test of strength, loyalty, and knock-down, drag-out brawls.
Which 36 fighters will enter the tournament of champions? Who will rise through the brackets and rival Darkseid against his ever-growing Omega powers? And what sinister secret lies at the absolute heart of Apokolips?
Last year, Absolute Batman writer Scott Snyder and Superman writer Joshua Williamson reshaped the future of DC storytelling with DC All In Special #1, the start of the "DC All...

Javi Fernández (Batman & Robin, King Spawn) will draw the main series that is being described as a slugfest to end all slugfests.

The events of Marvel Comics’ Avengers vs X-Men were some of the most dramatic conflicts that the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and its Merry Mutants have gone up against. While the heroes of the Marvel Universe are no strangers to Civil Wars, the global scale to which the conflict spread changed the relationship between two of the publisher’s most popular teams in a way that has never fully been prepared. And while many of the heroes may not realize it, it’s all thanks to one man – Mister Sinister.
Also known as Nathaniel Essex, Mister Sinister has been a thorn in the X-Men’s side for quite some time. But when his usual power-mad antics found him toying with the fate of the Phoenix, the crazed eugenicist set his sights toward manipulating the Avengers as well. And as things often go for Mister Sinister, his plans didn’t come...

On Friday, Marvel Studios embarks on its biggest gamble since the debut of “The Avengers” in 2012 with the premiere of its first TV series for Disney Plus, “WandaVision.” While other Marvel divisions have ventured into series that are nominally part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe — like ABC’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and Netflix’s “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones” — “WandaVision” is the first television venture produced by Marvel Studios proper, which is to say, by studio chief Kevin Feige.
Over 12 years, Feige shepherded the 23 feature films in the MCU to historic, industry-transforming success, as each movie knit together a larger tapestry of storytelling that culminated in 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame” and “Spider-Man: Far From Home.” The next phase of the MCU — feature films “Black Widow” and “Eternals” and Disney Plus series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” and “WandaVision” — were all supposed to debut in 2020. The Covid-19 pandemic, however, pushed all those...

With relaunches already announced for both Avengers and Venom, you probably figured that more #1’s would be named as part of Marvel’s upcoming “Fresh Start” initiative. Actually, the two series we’re talking about today come as a no-brainer, with both headlining heroes being recent box office successes.
Of course, with Black Panther becoming a powerhouse at theaters the world over, T’Challa was among the first to spring to mind when it came to heroes to be given this treatment. And with such mainstream exposure being enjoyed, one can only hope that translates into more interest in his comics.
When it comes to who’ll be at the helm, writer Ta-Nehisi Coates will still be the guiding hand, with Daniel Acuna tapped to provide art and covers. Normally, you’d figure a clean slate to be in order, but Coates has garnered so much praise for his work...

Marvel Comics' Variant series is set to honor iconic rock album covers this fall and they look amazing. The idea is pretty cool considering that a lot of record aficionados also enjoy collecting comic books(not all, but some). Back in 2015, Marvel did hip hop Variant covers to great success. A few of the best covers were Doctor Strange getting a Dr. Dre's Chronic makeover, Guardians of the Galaxy getting Pharcyde's Bizarre Ride 2 treatment, and Black Panther's T'Challa receiving a Jay-z Black Album makeover. The covers were all done by different artists that reimagined the comic book characters in their own hip hop flavored world.

These days, variant covers have become very serious business, effectively allowing the consumer to have alternate choices as to which pieces of dynamic artwork they can add to their respective collections. Some variants may be as common as standard covers or a few may be made available to each comic shop, thereby driving up the price tag.
