Why was an Adventure Time Episode Forced to Become About Soup?
Image
Your browser does not support the video tag. Network executives forced Adventure Time episode "Simon and Marcy" to be about soup instead of medicine due to being too scary for kids. Changes in plot resulted in bizarre scenes like Simon searching for soup in a Soupery that is clearly a drug store and soupe in a CLAMbulence service vehicle. The episode still ended up being one of the best ones of the series.

TV Legend: The classic Adventure Time episode, "Simon and Marcy," was forced to change its plot after animation had already begun to make it about...soup?

Adventure Time was a beloved long-running fantasy animated series that ran on Cartoon Network for ten seasons for eight years between 2010-2018. Created by Pendleton Ward, the series stars Finn (Jeremy Shada), a human child (who grows up over the course of the series) and his adoptive brother and best friend,...

‘Aew: Dynamite’ Review (Jun 28th 2023)
Image
Welcome to this week’s review of Aew: Dynamite, which was broadcast live from the FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, Ontario. We’ve got Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Taz on commentary so let’s get into the review!

Match #1: Jon Moxley def. Tomohiro Ishii The following is courtesy of allelitewrestling.com:

They went right at it, exchanging heavy fire with vicious chops. Ishii took Mox down with an explosive shoulder tackle. Mox chomped on Ishii’s face and then grinned. Moxley stomped down on Ishii with his boots. He tossed Ishii to the outside, with Claudio and Wheeler looming over Ishii. Moxley wiped out Ishii with an elbow suicida. Eddie Kingston’s music hit! Kingston came down to the ring, grabbing a steel chair. Moxley spiked Ishii with a Gotch-style piledriver for a near fall. Kingston watched from outside the ring. Moxley locked in the bulldog choke. Claudio was staring...

‘Aew: Dark’ Review (Oct 27th 2022)
Image
Another week, another episode of Aew: Dark and like I said in my Elevation review, I missed last week’s two Aew YouTube shows due to the sheer amount of wrestling that was on TV/PPV! So I’m back at it this week, with a show taped in front of a live Toronto crowd… On with the review!

Match #1: Lance Archer def. Iseah Brown

My Thoughts: Lance Archer just feels like a broken record these days. Drag your opponent to the ring. Check. Throw him around. Check. Get the pin. Check. But hey, at least he’s wrestling matches.

My Score: 1 out of 5 Match #2: Zack Clayton def. Shane Saber

My Thoughts: I was firmly in the same camp at the live Canadian audience in wanting local wrestler Shane Saber to get the win over the former reality star Zack Clayton. Alas it was not to be as...

‘Impact Wrestling’ Review (Nov 12th 2019)
Welcome to this week’s Impact Wrestling review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have Paula Abdul dancing like a cat. From those d—k-heads on Shark Tank…I’m switching the joke. Wouldn’t it be great if that show was true to the advertising? Mr. Wonderful my ass. That fat slob couldn’t piss Paul Orndorff’s boots clean with Pine Sol. I don’t care if that joke makes sense or not. Besides, it gives you an extra thing to hold over me. Okay, Impact is still trying to pretend that it never was called Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling. Shhhhhhh.

Match #1: Trey def. Petey Williams, Brent Banks, Rohit Raju, Aiden Prince & Willie Mack – Winner Becomes No.1 Contender for X-Division Title The following is courtesy of impactwrestling.com:

XXX-Division Champion Ace Austin joins Josh Mathews and Don Callis on commentary. Trey hits a springboard flip dive,...

‘Impact Wrestling’ Review (Oct 29th 2019)
Welcome to this week’s review of Impact Wrestling, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have Linda Hamilton kicking Gabriel Luna’s ass in Terminator: The Search For More Money. We’ve got some big matches to get to, so let’s lick the toad and freak the !@#$ out! Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Match #1: Noamichi Marufuji def. Josh Alexander (with Ethan Page) The following is courtesy of impactwrestling.com:

Marufuji hits a dropkick, followed by running double knees to gain momentum in the early going. Alexander launches himself off the top, driving his knee into the neck of Marufuji for a two count. Marufuji connects with a series of kicks but Alexander comes right back with a big forearm shot. Alexander gets Marufuji up in the Torture Rack, then spins him down to the mat for a very close near fall. Marufuji connects with Sliced Bread #2 to pick up the win.

‘Impact Wrestling’ Review (Aug 16th 2019)
Welcome to this week’s review of Impact Wrestling, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and a little birdy told me that Dr. Wagner Jr. might have wrestled at the Impact TV tapings that will air within a few weeks. Dr. Wagner Jr. was supposed to be retired, so if he’s wrestling after he announced his retirement then that makes him a liar. If Dr. Wagner Jr. is a liar, then that makes me angry…with the madness! I’ve got cabin fever! I’ve got it tooooooooooo! Cabin Fever! We’ve got cabin fever and we’re all going mad… I’m okay…just stupider than usual. Alright, it’s time for Impact Wrestling…and cabin fever! I’ve got it toooooooooo! Cabin fever!

Match #1: Moose def. Fallah Bahh The following is courtesy of impactwrestling.com:

Moose is in control in the early going as...

‘Impact Wrestling’ Review (Aug 9th 2019)
Welcome to this week’s review of Impact Wrestling, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have a few big matches to get to, so let’s get to them before the guy in the first row falls asleep.

Match #1: Jake Crist def. Aiden Prince – X-Division Championship Match The following is courtesy of impactwresting.com:

Jake hits a series of superkicks in the early going. Aiden attempts a 450 Splash but Jake gets his knees up. Aiden connects with a reverse Hurricanrana for a two count! Jake cuts off Aiden in mid-air with a superkick on the floor. Aiden hits a Brainbuster, followed by the 450 Splash for a near fall! Aiden goes back up to the top but Jake hits him with the Cutter to win!

My Opinion: 3 out of 5 – This was a good prize fight that didn’t quite stand with the best X-Title fights in history,...

‘Impact Wrestling’ Review (May 9th 2019)
Welcome to this week’s Impact Wrestling review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have the return of Rob Van Dam, as well as an oVe Rules Match for the main event. So, get your knickers in a bunch and get ready hurl ‘em up high, because Impact Wrestling…uh…I don’t remember what I was going for. Screw it. Just read the review. I’m sure I’ll botch it like everything else, but at least you’ll get a chuckle out of me seething over losing out on owning Tna to Anthem and their owl mascot.

Match #1: Tag Team Champions Lax (Santana & Ortiz) def. Moose & Josh Alexander – Non-Title Match The following is courtesy of impactwrestling.com:

Moose dropkicks Ortiz off the top, sending him crashing to the floor. Alexander continues to wear down Ortiz as he prevents him from tagging in Santana.
