Film Review: Voice (2024) by Yukiko Mishima
Image
With exceptional frankness, director Mishima presented “Voice” to the public of Udine Far East Film Festival, revealing that the film – that she wrote as well – is inspired at large, by her own trauma of being sexually abused at the age of 6. Said frankness is something that comes undoubtedly from a long and painful path of recovery and the director has challenged herself navigating self-worth and guilt in her latest work.

Voice is screening at Udine Far East Film Festival

The film is in omnibus format, composed by three episodes of different style and far apart location, and a bridging conclusion. In the first episode, in a stylish house near lake Toya, in the North of Japan, a woman, Maki (Maki Carrousel) is preparing Osechi, a traditional New Year's feast that contains several dishes, all highly symbolic of good fortune, safety, good health and longevity. Martin Shkreli Ordered to Forfeit More Than $7.3 Million in Assets
Pharma bro Martin Shkreli is back in the spotlight after U.S. District Judge Kiyo Matsumoto ordered him to surrender $7.3 million in assets, multiple news outlets reported on Monday. The bio-tech entrepreneur doesn’t necessarily need to surrender the Wu-Tang album, but will need to find a way to come up with the money one way or another. Shkreli did not immediately respond to request for comment from TheWrap on Monday. Also Read: Pharma Bro Martin Shkreli Jailed Over Online Bounty...

‘Pharma Bro’ Martin Shkreli Jailed After Offering $5,000 for Hillary Clinton’s Hair
Martin Shkreli, the biotech entrepreneur who increased a life-saving drug’s price by 5,000 percent, was sent to jail Wednesday after his bail was revoked for provocative online antics.

The Associated Press reported Shkreli, 34, was taken into custody immediately after a judge heard about his online presence, in which he offered to pay anyone a $5,000 bounty for securing a follicle of Hillary Clinton‘s hair while she is on her book tour.

His defense attorney argues it was simply a tasteless joke and not worthy of jail time.

“Indeed, in the current political climate, dissent has unfortunately often taken the form of political satire,...

Pharma Bro Martin Shkreli Jailed Over Online Bounty for Hillary Clinton’s Hair
Hillary Clinton
Martin Shkreli, the former pharmaceutical executive who was recently convicted of securities fraud, was tossed in jail Thursday after a judge revoked his $5 million bail due to a Facebook post inciting people to grab a strand of Hillary Clinton’s hair. U.S. District Judge Kiyo Matsumoto decided to grant prosecutors’ request to take Shkreli into custody, calling his posting, which offered readers $5,000 for a strand of the former Democratic presidential candidate’s hair, a “solicitation of assault” not protected by the First Amendment. “He does not need to apologize to me,” Matsumoto said. “He should have apologized to the government,...
