‘Somebody Feed Phil’ Season 7: Phil Rosenthal Reveals Two Fears He Conquered to Finally Get to One Big Destination
Image
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Phil Rosenthal hasn’t been to a country in Asia for his Netflix food travel series “Somebody Feed Phil” since the “Singapore” episode of Season 4 aired in 2020. But with the Season 7 debut Friday, the “Everybody Loves Raymond” creator is back in the east with four out of eight episodes, including an installment featuring one giant bucket-list destination Rosenthal has been anxiously dreaming about for years.

“I’ve always wanted to go to India, so Mumbai was a real thrill for me. I’ve always loved Indian food, I have so many beautiful Indian friends,” Rosenthal told Variety. “But there were two things that kept me away.”

Phil forges connections through the universal language of food, celebrating the joy of discovery; and the shared experience of breaking bread together.”

Rosenthal’s travels are punctuated in the series by interactions with his friends and family. Notably, one episode of Season 6 was titled “Tribute to Helen and Max” and featured Rosenthal, his brother, their wives and their family friends reflecting on the lives of Rosenthal’s parents,...

As Asian hate crimes spiked in the U.S. this year, actresses Lily Rosenthal and Olivia Sui, friends in life and food, were seeking to support the community in a way that would combine their roots. So they conceived the “Jewish-Chinese Alliance chicken sandwich,” combining fried chicken from Asian-owned Luther Bob’s with challah bread and a side of mini latkes. The response was so positive, recalls Rosenthal — daughter of Everybody Loves Raymond creator and Somebody Feed Phil star Phil Rosenthal — that the duo wondered, “if we can do this for our cultures, why don’t ...
