'Cobra Kai' Just Said Farewell to These 'Karate Kid' Villains
Image
Quick LinksA Recap of Kreese and Silver in 'Cobra Kai'Kreese and Silver’s Final Moves in 'Cobra Kai'Kreese & Silver’s Journeys up to 'Cobra Kai' Season 6

Through its entire six-season run, Cobra Kai has always been about villains. At its core, the question fans had to ask is whether Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) was/is the real villain or Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio). The story expanded to include a new generation of kids, initially centered around Miguel (Xolo Mariduena), a young student dealing with bullies much like Daniel did, along with new bullies turned good kids like Tory (Peyton List), Robby (Tanner Buchanan), and Kenny (Dallas Dupree Young).

Of course, what would a show like Cobra Kai, which reopens wounds from The Karate Kid more than 30 years ago, be without some of its original villains? Two who returned to reprise their roles from the original franchise films definitely won’t be returning.

‘Cobra Kai’ Sets Up Final Battle With Trailer & New Photos
Image
The end nears for Netflix’s Cobra Kai, but there’s still more action ahead before the series concludes on February 13. In a newly released trailer for the third part of the sixth and final season shows how Johnny (William Zabka and Daniel (Ralph Macchio) go from enemies to friends.

A batch of new photos can be found below.

After a shocking result in the Sekai Taikai, Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai must reckon with their pasts while facing an uncertain future both on and off the mat. Almost 40 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, it’s all been leading to this.

In a recent teaser, Johnny is practicing with his son Robby (Tanner Buchanan) as Daniel is training with his daughter Samantha (Mary Mouser). Tory is getting herself into fighting shape by running track. All this is happening as Gunther Braun (Carsten Norgaard), host of Sekai Taikai,...

The main event arrives in the final trailer for Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 3
Image
Cobra Kai never dies in this new trailer for the show that continues the legacy of the Karate Kid films. Part 3 of Cobra Kai‘s finale has premiered its final trailer, courtesy of Netflix, and the show is inevitably taking it all back to where it started at the All-Valley Tournament. Imagery of nostalgia continues as shots of Daniel and his now ally, Johnny, both train in the crane kick on the beach like in the original Karate Kid and a trailer mix of “You’re the Best Around” will pump you up for the final round of karate combat.

The season synopsis reads,

“After a shocking result in the Sekai Taikai, Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai must reckon with their pasts while facing an uncertain future both on and off the mat. Almost 40 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, it’s all been leading to this.

Cobra Kai season 6 part 2 ending, explained, and how it sets up part 3
Image
Cobra Kai season 6 part 2 is now streaming on Netflix. There are five new episodes of the hit Netflix original series for fans to watch. I binge-watched all five episodes of part 2, and I have to talk about the season 6 part 2 ending.

It is absolutely the most insane ending of a Cobra Kai episode since... probably ever. It's even wilder than the Cobra Kai season 2 finale when Robby (Tanner Buchanan) almost killed Miguel (Xolo Maridueña).

Spoilers ahead for the ending of Cobra Kai season 6 part 2 episode 10, "Eunjangdo."

Cobra Kai season 6 episode 10 begins innocently enough. There have been some epic fights throughout the five episodes of the Sekai Taikai,...

Hulu's Hit Legal Drama 'Reasonable Doubt' Renewed for Season 3
Image
Hulu has no doubt about the future of its legal drama, Reasonable Doubt, as the streamer just renewed the series for a third season. The Kerry Washington-produced show has been a low-key hit since it debuted in 2022, so it's not surprising to see it getting another installment. Some fans, however, were unsure about its fate, as its second season concluded almost a month ago.

But there are no objections, as far as The Hollywood Reporter can tell, to this show returning to court.

The well-reviewed (and received) series came to Hulu from the Onyx Collective, with executive producers Kerry Washington, Pilar Savone, Larry Wilmore, and Anton Cropper. Creator and showrunner Raamla Mohamed also serves as an executive producer. Mohamed was also a former writer on Scandal the show that made Washington a household name. The series has a 100% fresh rating for both seasons on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Graduates Review: A Moving, Gentle Drama About Healing In The Wake Of Tragedy
Image
This review was originally published on June 19, 2023, as a part of our Tribeca Film Festival coverage.

School shootings continue to happen. Its tragic, heartbreaking, and it often feels rather hopeless watching as things unfold, and the cycle of violence repeats. Far from being a film that capitalizes on the shock value of such a devastating event, The Graduates is an understated story that focuses on the aftermath healing, mourning, and attempting to move forward are at the center of this character-driven narrative.

The Graduates

Writer-director Hannah Peterson quietly and tenderly explores the complicated feelings at the center as grief and a sense of loss, and being lost, punctuate every scene. If there was ever a film to watch about mourning and learning to adjust to a new normal,...

Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2 Clip: Tory & Cobra Kai Suffer Early Sekai Taikai Defeat From Mortal Kombat Star's New Dojo
Image
A new clip from Cobra Kai season 6 part 2 has been released, showing Tory (Peyton List) and her new Cobra Kai members suffer an early defeat at Sekai Taikai after battling a Mortal Kombat star's new dojo. Cobra Kai season 6 part 1 ended with the death of Torys mother, the pain alongside other extenuating factors making her decide to join the titular dojo, now operated by John Kreese (Martin Kove) and Kim Da-Eun (Alicia Hannah-Kim). Part 2 is when the Sekai Taikai tournament will begin, meaning new character and group introductions, including inevitable new antagonists.

Now, Netflix (via Entertainment Weekly) has released a clip from Cobra Kai season 6 part 2, showing Tory, Kwon (Brandon H. Lee), and Yoon (Daniel Kim) facing off against a new martial arts group, the Iron Dragons. At first, it seems they'll be taking on six members, before four of them bow out, leaving two new characters, Zara (Rayna Vallandingham...

‘The Graduates’ Review: A Quietly Somber Portrait of a Community Living Through Grief
Image
To see, as we do in writer-director Hannah Peterson’s debut feature, The Graduates, young adults handing over their backpacks for inspection and flashing ID cards to security personnel as a matter of their morning routine feels uncanny and dystopian, even to those of us who were young at the time of the Jonesboro and Columbine shootings. The film doesn’t exactly encode outrage over political inaction on gun control, but it might well provoke it.

This somber drama about a community reckoning with the violent death of six high-schoolers knows that sometimes words, whether angry or distraught, often aren’t sufficient. It opens with several dialogue-free minutes, with Vicki (Kelly O’Sullivan), a teacher, approaching a memorial to the murdered students in a silent and darkened school hallway, while 12th-grader Genevieve (Mina Sundwall) impassively proceeds through a security checkpoint.

The subdued soundscape persists throughout The Graduates, in interactions broken apart...

Miyagi-Do Faces Off Against Old and New Rivals in ‘Cobra Kai’ Season 6 Part 2 Trailer
Image
Johnny Lawrence, Daniel Larusso and their students are headed overseas to compete in the international Sekai Taikai tournament in a new trailer for “Cobra Kai” Season 6 Part 2, which will drop on Netflix on Nov. 15.

The trailer shows the group landing in Barcelona, Spain and the group entering the doors of the karate competition, where they’re set to face off against 15 other teams. In addition to new rivals, Miyagi-Do will also deal with the fallout of Tory Nichols (Peyton List) defecting to Cobra Kai, while also fighting to stay united as internal rivalries bubble to the surface.

“We’ve heard all this garbage going around about loyalty. Almost all of us are trained somewhere else at some point,” Lawrence says in the teaser. “What matters is where our asses are now. We’re Miyagi-Do and we’re not losing. So wipe the smirks off their ugly faces.”

Lewis Tan Joins ‘Cobra Kai’ Season 6, Part 2, as Sensei Wolf
Image
Ahead of Cobra Kai season six’s return to Netflix for part two on Nov. 15, viewers should get ready for the caliber of black belts and karate masters at the Sekai Taikai, the global tournament, to go way up.

When Miyagi-Do competes at the Sekai Taikai in Barcelona, there’ll be new challenges and old enemies as they fight to become world champions amid the usual high school and karate school rivalries.

“The first thing that you’re going to notice is we’re not in the Valley anymore. It’s a totally different environment. The competitive space is different from previous All Valley tournaments. There’s no crowd watching. This is a karate temple that they’re going to, where the only people in attendance are black belts or karate masters,” Hayden Schlossberg, who co-created the show with Josh Heald and Jon Hurwitz, told Tudum.

‘Reasonable Doubt’ Stars Say EP Raamla Mohamed Encourages Cast to ‘Go Off-Script’ With Comedic Lines: ‘That’s Her Placing a Lot of Faith in Me’
Image
“Reasonable Doubt” stars Angela Grovey and Tim Jo said executive producer and showrunner Raamla Mohamed encourages the cast to lean into their own creativity when it comes to delivering comedic lines.

“I’d say it’s a real testament to Raamla Mohamed, who is an expert craftsman,” Jo, who plays Jax Stewart’s private investigator Daniel Kim, told TheWrap. “I can’t imagine the amount of effort and thought that goes into every word, and into the entire show that is her baby. But when she herself comes to me and says, ‘Tim, you can say whatever,’ I know that’s not glib, I know that’s her placing a lot of faith in me. So I really appreciate that, especially this season. I ran with it and said, ‘I’m going to say whatever I feel like.’ And so I did do that.”

Grovey chimed in, saying Mohamed’s...

Cobra Kai's Tory Needs to Win the Sekai Taikai Tournament
Image
The Sekai Taikai Tournament will be at the heart of the final season of Cobra Kai, with intense training and difficult choices for the dojos. Tory's struggles, including her mother's death, led to her joining Kreese in the tournament, creating complex feelings among fans. Fans debate who should win the tournament, with Tory seen as a deserving candidate despite her affiliation with Cobra Kai.

Cobra Kais sixth and final season is gearing up to be all about the Sekai Taikai Tournament, the biggest worldwide tournament in karate. In the first five episodes of the season, Daniel (Ralph Macchio), Johnny (William Zabka), and Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) are busy training the kids to fight. However, when they learned that only six fighters could represent each dojo in the Barcelona-held tournament, they enlisted the help of Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan) to be an impartial sensei.

He put the kids through a set of rigorous tests,...
