The Wet Valley Water Park welcomes high school students celebrating their graduation in all their unleashed libido glory. However, in the midst of the ribald romping revels, a black-gloved murderer is tinkering with the water slides and sabotaging the swimming pools.

I’ve said it many times before and I’ve no doubt I’ll say it many times again, but Canadians know how to make damn good horror flicks and guess what? Aquaslash is another product of the Canadian genre scene, another fantastic genre flick from the land that brought us the likes of He Knows You’re Alone, My Bloody Valentine, Antisocial and this years Fantasia Festival highlight The Oak Room.

FrightFest, the UK horror festival that was forced to move online this year because of pandemic disruption, has unveiled a lineup for its 21st edition (August 27-31) including seven world premieres.

The event opens with the UK premiere of Sky Sharks, which features Nazi zombie-piloted airborne killer sharks.

World premieres include Logan Thomas’s There’s No Such Thing As Vampires, Patrick Rea’s I Am Lisa, Ruben Pla’s The Horror Crowd, G-Hey Kim’s Don’t Click, Toby Watts’ Playhouse, Airell Anthony Hayles and Sam Casserly’s They’re Outside, and Francesco Giannini’s Hall.

Industry-focused events will include a panel hosted by Den Of Geek’s UK editor Rosie Fletcher about how the horror genre has been affected by the pandemic.

All online film screenings will be geo-locked to UK audiences and available through FrightFest’s website.

Red Hound Films has released the red band trailer for their upcoming tribute to 80s slashers, Aquaslash. The movie is a bloody water park murder mystery thriller and was directed and written by Renaud Gauthier. The 80's throwback made its world premiere at Fantasia Film Festival, which is where Gauthier originally premiered his critically acclaimed 2013 debut feature Discopathe. Aquaslash is coming to drive-ins and VOD on June 23rd. Bloody Disgusting debuted the trailer as an excluisve, which you can check out in their embed below.

The Aquaslash red band trailer is a throwback to the classic slashers of the 1980s and it has no problem advertising its influences. There are plenty of shots of partying young adults getting ready for a "lit" summer at a mysterious water park. However, things go from partying to bloodbath in a matter of seconds, which is exactly what most horror fans are waiting for.
