Jon Favreau is reuniting with a star from The Mandalorianfor his upcoming Disney+ show Oswald The Lucky Rabbit. The live-action and animation hybrid show will explore the Oswald character, who was created by Walt Disney and Ubbe Iwerks for Universal Pictures in 1927. The other young actors are Mykal-Michelle Harris, who played young Bonnie in Big Little Lies season 1, and Ryder Allen, who played young Oswald Cobb in The Penguin.

According to Variety, Amy Sedaris has now joined the cast of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit as well. She will reportedly play the mother of Allen's character, who is named Taylor. Sedaris played the comedic...

10 Great Modern Disney TV Shows Based On Movies
Image
The massive success of a few Disney films has led to their characters and storylines being further explored in fan-favorite TV shows. The latest film to earn a series inspired by its characters is Pixar's Inside Out, with the miniseries Dream Productions premiering later this year. Though the act of rebooting or producing sequel films and series based on acclaimed films feels like a habit established in recent years, Disney has been transforming their films into series for decades.

Shows like Lilo & Stitch: The Series, Timon & Pumbaa, and Aladdin aired on TV in the late '90s and early 2000s, and are still enjoyed by audiences to this day. When audiences connect with certain characters right away, like Baymax or Olaf, it only makes sense to produce a follow-up series that explores entertaining adventures outside the main narrative of their originating films. From classics like The Lion King...

Disney might be focused on superheroes and other live-action films at the moment, but its core business remains the one of animated films. Because of that, the studio will continue to explore some of its older stories, creating a new take on The Little Mermaid's Ariel.

“As I continue to grow, others will see that as a reinvention, but it’s just growing into who I am,” she explained, noting that she’s not solely responsible for the original vision that got her to where she is today,...

‘Cheaper by the Dozen’ Review: Disney Plus’ Refurbished Remake Holds Promising Pluses and Messy Minuses
Image
What began as an autobiographical lark for a brother and sister scribbling down stories about growing up in a radical family of an unconventional size has turned into the basis for Hollywood’s decades-long obsession with their familial farces. The portrait of charming, controlled chaos within Frank B. Gilbreth Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey’s novel “Cheaper by the Dozen” has been adapted for the screen twice before, produced during two drastically different eras. Yet the resonant themes, centered on an unsinkable family’s resilience during trying times, are what tie them together.

In that same vein comes this modernized spin on the timeless tale for Disney Plus. Director Gail Lerner and co-writers Jenifer Rice-Genzuk Henry and Kenya Barris (who also produces) retrofit...
