It’s about to be another “One of Them Days,” as a sequel to the hit comedy starring Keke Palmer and Sza and produced by Issa Rae is in early development at TriStar Pictures.
Palmer and Sza are expected to return for the new movie, along with the film’s original creative team, but plot details are still being kept under wraps.

Keke Palmer and pop sensation Sza prove to be quite the dynamic comedic duo in this spirited and sharply entertaining buddy comedy, the feature directorial debut of Syreeta Singleton. With natural chemistry and impeccable comedic instincts, Palmer and Sza shine as Dreux and Alyssa — two best friends navigating the chaos of adulthood while sharing a dilapidated Los Angeles apartment.
Dreux and Alyssa, perpetually behind on rent and living in an apartment plagued by faulty plumbing, flickering lights, and a landlord with no sense of boundaries, find themselves facing imminent eviction. Their only hope is to come up with the money by 6pm — a daunting task made all the more complicated when they realize Alyssa’s unreliable boyfriend, Keshawn (Joshua David Neal), has already squandered their rent savings on one of his many failed entrepreneurial endeavours.

The Lion King is famous for all sorts of good reasons; firstly, it's a fantastic story; secondly, it has a killer soundtrack; and, thirdly, it can appeal to all ages. The 1994 film became the foundation for modern pop culture, and with its wonderful story and emotionally powerful tunes, there’s a reason Simba and Co. have remained King.
Unfortunately for the lion of the rock, eventually every king gets dethroned and that’s more than a repeated fact for Simba’s dad. And whilst overall, it seems Sonic 3 will beat Mufasa, for the Martin Luther King Day weekend box office, the one-day crown almost passed from Mufasa to One of Them Days.

One of Them Days is the kind of comedy Hollywood used to make regularly. The film keeps the premise simple and trusts the characters to react in funny ways. Even though it is more of a rarity in today’s IP landscape, One of Them Days proves that comedy especially need not be overthought.
Dreux (Keke Palmer) works night shifts at Norm’s diner and is trying for a promotion to franchise manager. Her roommate, Alyssa (Sza), is an artist with no income. When Alyssa’s boyfriend, Keshawn (Joshua David Neal) steals their rent money for his own hare-brained scheme, their landlord, Uche (Rizi Timane), threatens to evict them if they don’t have $1,500 by 6 p.m.
That premise is no high-concept sensation. Rather, it is the simple premise that fueled many of the great comedies. They need X amount of money by X time. Happy Gilmore played golf to raise enough money.

So what’s the cinema antidote to the brutal and frozen tundra outside our doors (and let’s not get into the West Coast)? How about a raunchy, rollicking buddy comedy? Hmm, that’s usually Summer popcorn fodder, but that’s not the only “rule” that this new flick is breaking. Rather than two mismatched male comic actors, this focuses on the friendship (though strained at times) of two twenty-something African American women. That’s a nice “flip”, along with the pairing of a screen “vet” and a star from the world of hip hop (and R&b/pop). Now that’s a combo sure to end those winter doldrums, along with its “Cali” backdrop. So that’s the setting, as the principals frantically try to survive a zany twenty-four hours that certainly qualifies as One Of Them Days that will put their bond to the test.

Once upon a time, you could make a movie about a mismatched couple of friends who have to solve a problem. This movie would go into theaters and become a respectable hit and sometimes create sequels. But now far too many comedies, regardless of quality, only show up on streaming services. They’re deemed not big enough for the spectacle of an auditorium screen nor are they arty enough to compete for awards. Thankfully, “One of Them Days” is headed to theaters, brave enough to be an exception and solid enough to warrant this release strategy. There’s nothing particularly unexpected in Lawrence Lamont’s buddy comedy, but when it has no issue providing laughs thanks to stars Keke Palmer and Sza and their supporting cast, you can escape to the theater and have a good time rather than laughing by yourself in front of your TV.

“One of Them Days,” starring Keke Palmer and Sza as fast-talking, flat-broke Los Angeles roommates who have nine hours to come up with the rent money, is a winning throwback to the kind of day-in-the-hood comedy they used to make in the ’90s — movies like “Friday” (1995) and “The Players Club” (1998), which squeezed just enough texture in between the laughs to qualify as crowd-pleasing slices of life. These movies, usually produced by New Line, were the descendants of “House Party” and Spike Lee (notably the exuberant opening 45 minutes of “Do the Right Thing”), though they were also a counterreaction to the dramas of inner-city violence that had dominated commercial Black cinema during the first half of the ’90s. To that genre, they offered a counterbalance of raunchy, scuzzy corkscrew humanity, teaching the movie industry a lesson — about the place where diversity meets commerce — that it seems to need to keep learning over and over again.

Comedies are hard to come by these days. They’re practically non-existent — a reality I’m quite bitter about because who doesn’t like to laugh? — or, if they do exist, are just plain bad. So I was surprised that One of Them Daysmanaged to get made at all. The film, directed by Lawrence Lamont from a screenplay by Syreeta Singleton, is a throwback buddy comedy we don’t see much of. While that occasionally works against it, One of Them Days is fun and delightfully absurd. Keke Palmer and Sza are great together and it’s their chemistry and interactions that largely work.
One of Them Days, directed by Lawrence Lamont, follows best friends and roommates Dreux and Alyssa as they scramble to prevent eviction after discovering Alyssa's boyfriend has squandered their rent money. This comedic adventure highlights their desperate and humorous attempts to save their home and friendship.

Few moments provoke more anxious dread for residents of The Jungles, the vibrant Los Angeles locale in which the hilarious new film One of Them Days is set, than the first of the month. Their surly landlord lurks around the apartment complex collecting rent on units in need of desperate repair. Looking for any reason to evict his long-time, mostly working-class, tenants, Uche (Rizi Timane) enforces a strict policy: If you don’t pay, you can’t stay.
So it’s a real problem when Uche tells Dreux (Keke Palmer) that he hasn’t received her rent. The fatigued waitress answers her landlord’s harsh knocks in a state of half-sleep. Uche must be mistaken, she insists, because her best friend and roommate Alyssa (Sza) paid him. It turns out that Alyssa tasked her unreliable boyfriend Keshawn (Joshua David Neal) with delivering the payment. And he, a failing serial entrepreneur,...

There is a moment early on in the new movie “One of Them Days” where you are treated to the full range of what Keke Palmer’s face can do. Playing Dreux, a waitress in a crisis over one Los Angeles day, she is caught off guard when her crush Maniac (Patrick Cage) enters a room. Her eyes dart side to side, eyeing him up, but with the nerves of someone about to melt. When he speaks to her, her normal loquaciousness disappears as she babbles about honey buns. It’s a masterclass in turning small moments into big comedy.

We've got an exclusive first look at Home Before Dark Season 2 Episode 3.
The clip features Sheriff Mackenzie 'Trip' Johnson (Aziza Scott) finally having a successful sit-down with former sheriff Frank Briggs, Sr. (Louis Herthum).
Trip has been having a hard time with her new role, as those under her command have remained loyal to Briggs, Sr.
But things have not been going well for the Briggs Senior and Junior, and it may well be the time that Senior does something to change that.
It's going to take a lot of work to prove to his son and others that Senior's ready to turn over a new leaf, though.
The catalyst for the scene you're about to watch is in response to the hounding that Trip's father has been taking in town.
As Hilde's investigation into the pond and the death surrounding it grows, Trip's father, Junior Johnson experiences some troubling vandalism to his property.
