Tom Ellis, who plays the flirtatious college professor who gets in a romantic situationship with Catherine Missal’s Bree in Tell Me Lies season two, recently told People that he will be returning for the forthcoming third season.

“Yes, I’m going back. I’m actually going there on Saturday to start shooting,” Ellis said at CBS Fest in Los Angeles.

Ellis, who is married to Tell Me Lies showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer, also revealed that he’s read “the first four episodes” already and teased that viewers “will not be disappointed” by the new season.

A lot of bad stuff happens on the Hulu original series "Tell Me Lies" — helmed by Meagan Oppenheimer and adapted from Carola Lovering's hit novel — and one of the very worst things happens to Macy Campbell (Lily McInerny). A young woman who ends up caught in Stephen DeMarco's (Jackson White) orbit (which is largely troubling because Stephen is terrible to women) and who has a connection to the series protagonist Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) in both the book and show, Macy meets a terrible and tragic fate, and in both narratives, it ends up creating huge consequences for everyone.

"Tell Me Lies," which mostly focuses on the tortured relationship between Stephen and Lucy in the book but devotes plenty of time to the supporting characters on the Hulu show, is pretty dark, and the story of what happens to Macy is no exception.

The Tell Me Lies ending concludes with Stephen (Jackson White) shocking Lucy (Grace Van Patten) at two different points in time. Based on the novel by Carola Lovering, Tell Me Lies season 1 is mostly set in 2007-2008. This is during Lucy's freshman year at Baird College in New York while Stephen is a junior. One of Michael Bay's most polarizing films will hit Peacock later this month. Ambulance debuted in 2022, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Eiza Gonzalez.

Ambulance will arrive on Peacock on November 1. Co-produced and directed by Michael Bay from a script by Chris Fedak, the action thriller remake of a Danish movie of the same name follows adoptive brothers Gyllenhaal's Daniel Sharp, a long-time criminal, and Mateen's William Sharp, a former U.S. Marine and Afghanistan veteran, who hijack an ambulance after a botched bank heist. Gonzalez's character, Camille Thompson, an Emt paramedic, and Jackson White's rookie cop character, Zach Parker, are taken hostage by the brothers. The movie's cast also includes Garret Dillahunt, Keir O'Donnell, Olivia Stambouliah, Moses Ingram, Colin Woodell, Cedric Sanders, A Martinez, Jesse Garcia, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Wale, and Devan Chandler Long.

In the wake of another delicious and devastating “Tell Me Lies” finale, creator Meaghan Oppenheimer had just one apology to make. “I’m sorry that relationships suck so much,” the showrunner and screenwriter told IndieWire. “I’m very sorry to the audience that it seems like everyone has been so traumatized by their own relationships. It feels like this universal and inescapable thing.”

You wouldn’t know it looking at Oppenheimer and actor Tom Ellis, who married in June 2019 and spoke at length about their experience collaborating on Hulu’s obsession-worthy fall drama. Adapted from Carola Lovering’s novel of the same name, “Tell Me Lies” Season 1 is a murder mystery investigated by way of an especially warped college romance. In Season 2, Oppenheimer exploded that concept to incorporate several new storylines — chief among them, a toxic love triangle that cast her husband as a predatory professor.

The possibility of a time jump in Tell Me Lies season 3 has been addressed by series showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer. The Hulu drama, adapted from Carola Lovering's novel, follows Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White) through toxic relationships that span multiple years. The nonlinear narrative structure has balanced two timelines so far, one in 2008 during their college years and another in 2015, where long buried secrets come to light. Tell Me Lies season 3 has not yet been confirmed.

In a recent interview with Variety, Oppenheimer indicated that the next season of Tell Me Lies will likely focus on more events from 2015 rather than the 2008 timeline. She explained that although some of the college storylines will still have a role in the series, the narrative will gradually shift toward the future. Season 3 may also introduce a time jump to move the story beyond the events of the second season's finale.

Meaghan Oppenheimer is a Hollywood showrunner with a husband, an infant, three stepkids and a dynastic family polo ranch on the outskirts of Tulsa, Okla. Despite these dignified badges of adulthood, she can still tell you the last time she cried at a bar over a boy.

“It was here, 10 years ago,” Oppenheimer says, taking in the musk of Barney’s Beanery in West Hollywood. The beloved local chain of dive bars has been usurped in recent years by Gen Z, looking for cheap well drinks and a staff that won’t call the cops if seven people are vaping under a table. “But I haven’t cried in bars since I got married.”

Thankfully, her memory is long. It’s what powers her sensational Hulu series “Tell Me Lies,” a sexually charged drama about college kids who play the devastating, consequential mind games of “Dangerous Liaisons” atop sheets by Bed Bath & Beyond.

One of the big mysteries of Tell Me Lies‘ second season has been who has repeatedly been calling Bree (Cat Missal) towards the end of season two.

For a recap, if you need a refresher, in the 2015 timeline, Bree has been seen either ignoring a call from a private number, or in a heated discussion with someone trying to get them to leave her alone.

Fan theories have pointed to Oliver (Tom Ellis), Marianne (Gabriella Pession), or a possible family member of Bree’s who we haven’t met yet.

Now, the show’s creator and showrunner, Meaghan Oppenheimer, is revealing 2 characters that are not involved in this mystery.

Let’s get this out of the way now. For anyone who read my review for Tell Me Lies Season 2 Episode 7, I had no idea someone was actually going to die!

I was as shocked as everyone else! There was so much that happened in this finale that it’s hard to keep track of who’s life is on fire and who’s isn’t.

Suffice it to say, Tell Me Lies Season 2 Episode 8 dropped nuclear bombs on the story. Not everyone is walking away unscathed.

Season 2 of “Tell Me Lies” came crashing to an end — in both the 2008 and the 2015 timelines. In an attempt to sum up everything that happened: Stephen (Jackson White) and Diana (Alicia Crowder) broke up — an idea she made him think was his doing, but she’d been planning all along to get him away. There was no sadness at all for Stephen, who immediately slept with Lucy (Grace Van Patten). Right after that hookup, Lucy went back to Leo (Thomas Doherty) and slept with him — without even changing her underwear. That tidbit came in hand for Stephen later when he brought up what she was wearing to prove to Leo they’d hooked up hours before and led to Leo punching him repeatedly until his face was unrecognizable.

Hulu’s hit series Tell Me Lies has almost wrapped up it’s second season, with the finale airing on Wednesday.

What you may not know is, Jackson White, who portrays Stephen on the series, is the son of actress Katey Sagal, who portrays Stephen’s mom on the show.

In the series, they have a very strained relationship with Katey‘s character being incredibly manipulative. Stephen has obviously been impacted by his upbringing, and it shows with his character’s decisions throughout season one as well.

Catherine Missal is an up-and-coming actress who's been thrust into the pop culture conversation thanks to her starring role in Hulu's Tell Me Lies. Based on the 2018 novel of the same name by Carola Lovering, Tell Me Lies is a Hulu original TV series that premiered in September 2022. It was such a success that season 2 was ordered only a few months later and premiered in September 2024. After watching Jackson White’s Stephen torment Grace Van Patten’s Lucy all throughout the second season of “Tell Me Lies,” Stephen switches up his behavior at the end of Episode 7 in what White calls a “desperate” decision.

Reckoning with whether he’s a good person or not, Stephen turns his attention from Diana (Alicia Crowder) back to Lucy as he arrives at her dorm room and asks her candidly if she knew he was a bad person while they were dating — which she replies “yes” — and if, even still, she loved him then, which she also replies “yes.” He then confesses that he, too, despite knowing the worst things about Lucy, still loves her and makes a proposition for the pair to be together.

“It’s very desperate and guttural,” White told TheWrap of Stephen’s decision to go back to Lucy.

During the dream, Stephen wakes up after the car accident and tries to help Macy when he sees Lucy walk up to the car. She then helps him get out and she moves Macy to the driver’s seat.

Lucy then says to Stephen, “Look at me. You’re okay Stephen,” before he wakes up in bed.

If you recall, in the season one finale, Stephen and Macy were involved in a car accident after driving drunk while leaving a party. This led to Macy’s death.
