Dr. Dina

IMDbProStarmeterSee rank
Dr. Dina is a pioneer of the medical marijuana movement in Southern California and inspiration for the Nancy Botwin character in the TV show Weeds.

In 2003, she unexpectedly entered the world of medical marijuana while trying to help a friend with cancer. Soon thereafter, she would open and run Southern California's first medical marijuana doctor's office, consult for and transform the first dispensaries in West Hollywood and LA, inspire a hit TV show, and become the go-to consultant for countless Hollywood celebrities, politicians, and dignitaries, including a presidential candidate and the cities of West Hollywood and Los Angeles.

Named "Queen of Medical Marijuana in L.A" by Rolling Stone Magazine, she received her nickname "Dr. Dina" (she is not board certified) from Snoop Dogg for helping him acquire his first letter of recommendation for medical cannabis. Among her many accomplishments, she helped launch a compassion program that provides free medical marijuana to the sick and needy.

She hosts the popular podcast Cannabis Confidential on CannabisRadio, and can be regularly found running AHHSWEHO (Alternative Herbal Health Services) in West Hollywood, the oldest continually operating dispensary in Southern California, which has been named the best dispensary in L.A. by High Times and LA Weekly Magazine and is a multiple High Times Cannabis Cup winner.

On the philanthropic front, in 2015 she launched FreedomGrow.org and Dr. Dina's POW Challenge, which has raised thousands of dollars for people serving time in prison for non-violent victimless marijuana crimes.

Since stepping into the public spotlight in 2013, Dr. Dina is rapidly becoming a household name, having been seen by millions in the Vice documentary "The Real Nancy Botwin" and in the GQ web-series Most Expensivest Shit with 2 Chainz, where she smokes the world's most expensive joint and hosts a $500,000 dab session.
