Biography

    • Alex Dauphin (she/her) is an award-winning, Haitian-American writer-director, actor, and storyteller building art that celebrates the black, the queer, the transnational, and the femme so that those at the intersection can hear their history sung and see their beauty reflected.

      Dauphin's short By the Lake premiered at Atlanta Film Festival and nominated for "Best Narrative Short Screenplay" at Austin Under the Stars Festival. It is an Official Selection at the Oscar-qualifying Out on Film, Catalina Film Festival, Soho International Film Festival, and Atlanta Women's Film Festival.

      Her directorial debut Jeudi won 'Prix du Jury' at Atlanta French Film Festival, 'Best LGBT Short Film" at Berlin Short Film Festival and "Honorable Mention" at IndieX. Jeudi earned an additional 4 nominations and was officially selected for 15 film festivals, including Out on Film, Tokyo International Film Festival, Micheaux Film Festival, and Georgia Shorts.

      Dauphin's upcoming short, Monsters was a Second Rounder in Austin Film Festival's Screenplay Competition.
