Benedict Cumberbatch, Riz Ahmed, Dua Lipa and Annie Lennox are among 300 public figures to have signed an open letter calling on UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to end the country’s “complicity” in the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

“We urge you to take immediate action to end the UK’s complicity in the horrors in Gaza,” read the letter. “Right now, children in Gaza are starving while food and medicine sit just minutes away, blocked at the border. Words won’t feed Palestinian children – we need action. Every single one of Gaza’s 2.1 million people is at risk of starvation, as you read this.

“Mothers, fathers, babies, grandparents – an entire people left to starve before the world’s eyes. 290,000 children are on the brink of death – starved by the Israeli government for more than 70 days.”

Tubi Picks Up Season 2 Of ‘Big Mood’, Orders World Cup Soccer Docuseries
Image
Fox-owned streamer Tubi has picked up the second season of British comedy series Big Mood and ordered a docuseries about the 2026 World Cup.

This comes ahead of Fox’s Upfronts presentation, where the free streamer is expected to be a significant part of discussions.

Deadline revealed that Channel 4 had renewed Big Mood, which stars Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan, for a second season earlier this year. At the time, it wasn’t clear whether Tubi, which aired season one, would air the second season but it turns out they were just waiting for the Upfronts to announce it.

Big Mood follows Maggie, played by Coughlan, a 30-year-old writer with bipolar disorder. Her best friend is Eddie, played by It’s a Sin star Lydia West. At the start of Season 2, it’s been a year since Maggie and Eddie last saw each other, without any contact between them. When Eddie suddenly returns for a wedding,...

‘Bridgerton’s’ Nicola Coughlan Teases New Project, Talks Trans and Palestine Support: ‘To Me, the Killing of Innocent People Is Never Right’
Image
This Monday, “Bridgerton” star Nicola Coughlan was awarded the Commitment Prize by French media company Konbini at Canneseries, where she also gave a career talk. During the hour-long masterclass, the Irish actor spoke in depth about not only her work on shows like “Derry Girls” and “Doctor Who,” but also her support of causes such as abortion, trans rights, and Palestine.

“There is a factor of ‘it’s better if you say nothing’ because our job is to entertain you,” said the actor when asked about speaking in support of Palestine. “My dad was in the Irish Army, which is a peacekeeping force. My family lived in Jerusalem and Syria in the 70s, so it’s something that is in my bones. We are talking about right or wrong, about children being bombed in their beds. I wouldn’t accept that anywhere in the world.”

The actor, who was bestowed...

Exclusive: Channel 4 has given the greenlight to Season 2 of Big Mood starring Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan.

Big Mood follows Maggie, played by Coughlan, a 30-year-old writer with bipolar disorder. Her best friend is Eddie, played by It’s a Sin star Lydia West. When Eddie suddenly returns for a wedding, she isn’t alone – Maggie has competition, in the form of an infuriatingly positive spiritual healer named Whitney. Maggie needs to work out if her special brand of chaos can find space in Eddie’s new life, or she fears she will lose her forever.

One of the Best Shows of 2024 Is a Big Mood
Image
Two new British series are doing more to electrify the current TV season than a whole streaming platform’s worth of star-studded dramas. Richard Gadd’s Baby Reindeer may have sent Netflix subscribers down a rabbit hole in search of wrongdoers, but it’s actually a bracingly compassionate look at survivors and their abusers. Camilla Whitehill’s Big Mood, which premiered April 19 on Tubi, similarly ventures into thorny territory with panache, only it keeps one foot firmly planted in comedy the whole time.

Fremantle Delivers ‘Big Mood,’ Creator Camilla Whitehill, ‘Bridgerton’ Star Nicola Coughlan, ‘It’s a Sin’s’ Lydia West Break Down Comedy (Exclusive)
Image
A raucous comedy from playwright Camilla Whitehill, “Big Mood” teams “Bridgerton” and “Derry Girls” alum Nicola Coughlan with ‘It’s a Sin’ star Lydia West to dive headlong into mental illness and friendship. Fremantle, heading global distribution, will showcase the project in Cannes as part of its Mipcom slate. The market kicks off Oct.16.

A divinely sardonic and captivating laugh riot, the upcoming Channel 4 series presents an earnest portrait of mania and biologically-induced despair in a world where mental health has been commodified and sanitized for ease of consumption. Whitehill manages a highly nuanced depiction of Coughlan’s Maggie, whose bipolar pendulum swings erratically, as she tries desperately to regain control of her fleeting agency while clinging tightly to longtime friend Eddie, played by West.

“We’ve done a lot of patting ourselves on the back as a society, saying, ‘We’re really facing mental health,’ but we’re not.
