Melanie Laurent’s ‘Sulak’ headlines Amazon France’s upcoming film and series slate

‘Sulak’ is the first production from Alain Goldman’s Pitchipoï Productions.

Amazon Prime Video France is reteaming with director Melanie Laurent for the feature Sulak and has greenlit five new French feature films and three original series. Laurent directed Amazon’s first French-language original The Mad Women’s Ball in 2021.

Sulak will star newcomer Lucas Bravo as Bruno Sulak, a notorious real-life French criminal known for his non-violent heists on multiple jewelry stores in the 1980s. Sulak managed to escape from prison several times in order to reunite with his lover and accomplice, becoming public enemy number one in the process.

Other Angle Bows Sales on ‘Hawaii,’ ‘Kanun’ at Unifrance Event (Exclusive)

Other Angle is launching sales on Melissa Drigeard’s “Hawaii” with Berenice Bejo and Jeremy Guez’s “Kanun” at the Unifrance Rendez-Vous in Paris which is happening this week as an in-person event in the French capital.

“Hawaii”is headlined by an ensemble cast including The Artist” actor Bérénice Béjo. The movie follows nine friends who gather every year in their friend Thomas’ hotel in Hawaii. Following a nuclear attack alert, they believe that their last moments are upon them and their friendly annual meeting turns into shouting match. But after finding out the nuclear threat was a false alert, they have to spend the remaining eight days of vacation together. The movie is produced by Romain Legrand and Vivien Aslanian at Marvelous Productions. Warner Bros. will release it in France.

“Kanun” is a thriller directed by Jérémie Guez whose credits include “Brothers by Blood” and “A Bluebird in My Heart.

The French filmmaker is in Albania finishing his new thriller, a Cheyenne Federation production sold by Other Angle Pictures and starring Waël Sersoub and Tugba Sunguroglu. The final week of filming, involving a few days in Albania, is now underway on Kanun, Jérémie Guez’s 3rd feature-length work following on from Bluebird (unveiled at the 2018 SXSW before making its way to events including Sitges) and Sons of Philadelphia (starring Matthias Schoenaerts in the lead role and currently awaiting its cinema release in France). French actor Waël Sersoub (highly acclaimed in Milf) stands tall in the film’s cast, as does Turkey’s Tugba Sunguroglu (who scooped the 2016 Acting Revelation Lumières award alongside her Mustang colleagues) and Kosovar actor Arben Bajraktaraj.Written by the director,...
