But in the “new normal” that the coronavirus has delivered us over the 2020-2021 season, there’s more uncertainty about which broadcast shows will stay and which will go than in years past.

Fox, CBS, ABC, NBC and The CW all still have several decisions to make before their upfront presentations to advertisers later this month, events that will once again be virtual, and some networks have many more tough calls to make than others. The actress, who played Angela during the first four seasons, last appeared on American Housewife Season 5 Episode 1, which was a holdover following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Carly's name was subsequently removed from the series, leading to speculation about her exit.

Hughes is bowing out of the series following claims of a "toxic environment" and "discrimination," Deadline reports.

“I was no longer able to work in the toxic environment that was created on American Housewife,” Hughes told Deadline in statement.

Great news for fans of American Housewife TV series. ABC just announced they've ordered a fifth season of the TV show for the 2020-21 season.

The American Housewife comedy series centers on Katie Otto (Katy Mixon), a confident and unconventional mother from the wealthy town of Westport, Connecticut. Katie wants to “keep it real” stand apart from her community’s “perfect” parents and their entitled children. The sitcom also stars Diedrich Bader, Meg Donnelly, Daniel Dimaggio, Julia Butters, Carly Hughes, and Ali Wong.

ABC has renewed 13 more series for 2020-21, eight of them scripted, including freshmen Stumptown and mixed-ish.

The broadcast network has picked up American Housewife, black-ish, The Conners, The Goldbergs, A Million Little Things, mixed-ish, The Rookie, Stumptown; reality stalwarts The Bachelor, Dancing with the Stars and Shark Tank; as well as the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire revival and newsmagazine 20/20.

They join previously renewed flagship Grey’s Anatomy, which is in the middle of a two-season pickup, spinoff Station 19, The Good Doctor, American Idol, America’s Funniest Home Videos, as well as newly picked up scripted series Big Sky, from David E. Kelley, and Kari Lizer’s Call Your Mother and the recently ordered Supermarket Sweep reboot. This takes it to a total of 22 shows confirmed for the upcoming season.

The event, which coincided with International Women’s Day, honored actresses and activists Andie MacDowell and Logan Browning, alongside Ecos President and CEO Kelly Vlahakis-Hanks and Dr. Nancy D. O’Reilly for their significant contributions to their fields and roles as inspirations to women everywhere.

During the inspiring ceremony, Nwhm President and CEO Holly Hotchner spoke about bringing the organization’s dream of a brick-and-mortar museum to life in Washington, D.C. Under her leadership, over the past year, the Museum began the critical work to help realize its mission: to build the first ever U.S. museum to show the full scope of the history of women.

ABC has picked up additional episodes of “American Housewife” and “Bless This Mess,” the network announced on Thursday.

Both shows will run for an additional six episodes this year, with “American Housewife” currently in its fourth season and “Bless This Mess” in its second.

ABC has picked up more episodes of comedies American Housewife, currently in its fourth season, and sophomore Bless This Mess. Each will produce six additional episodes, for what ABC calls full-season orders.

American Housewife had originally received a 15-episode order, which will now go up to 21 episodes and the show’s total to 97 episodes. The pickup is a vote of confidence to the comedy, which has been an utility player for ABC over the years and a solid Friday anchor this fall.

Bless This Mess was a midseason entry last season, so its Season 2 order was for 13 episodes. The back order brings that up to 19.

Created by Sarah Dunn, the series stars and is narrated by Eastbound & Down alum Mixon as Katie Otto, a confident, unapologetic wife and mother of three who raises her flawed family in the wealthy town of Westport, Ct.

Katie’s perfectly imperfect world is upended when her neighbor’s decision to move notches her up from her ideal social standing and sets her on a path to ensure that doesn’t happen, regardless of the consequences.

ABC’s “American Housewife” and “American Idol” are airing a crossover episode in March, the network announced Tuesday at the Television Critics Association press tour.

The “American Housewife” episode, which is semi-confusingly titled “American Idol,” is set for Tuesday, March 19 at 8/7c. It will include guest spots from “Idol” judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie and host Ryan Seacrest.

“American Housewife’s” “American Idol” follows Taylor’s (Meg Donnelly) dream of becoming a musical superstar, per ABC. Parents Katie (Katy Mixon) and Greg (Diedrich Bader) are skeptical when Taylor announces she will use her college fund to travel to Los Angeles, audition for “American Idol,” wow the judges and become an overnight sensation — but Taylor’s passion is undeniable.

The episode was written by Jordan Roter and directed by John Putch. It won’t be the lone musical episode of this third season of “Housewife.”

Exclusive: Meg Donnelly, who plays the oldest daughter on ABC’s comedy series American Housewife, has signed with ICM Partners. The move comes after Donnelly starred earlier this year in Disney Channel’s original movie Zombies, which bowed in February and drew 1.14 million viewers and a 4.8 rating in the kids 6-11 demo on its first night — beating NBC’s Winter Olympics coverage.

Donnelly plays Taylor Otto in Housewife opposite Katy Mixon, Diedrich Bader, Daniel Dimaggio, Julia Butters, Carly Hughes and Ali Wong. The series, now in its third season, airs at 8:30 Pm Wednesdays in ABC’s comedy block.

Donnelly, who also starred in the 2017 indie film The Broken Ones, recently released her debut single “Smile.” She continues to be managed by The Practice Worldwide.
