‘Transference: Dark Mutants’ DVD Review
Image
Stars: Melissa Joy Boerger, Matt Daciw, Eamon Hanson, Jehan Hashim, Ethan Mitchell, Tony Nash, Jeremy Ninaber, Matthew Ninaber, Gary Kirkham, Marlo Milstone, Justin Moses | Written by Jennifer Lloyd, Matthew Ninaber, Aaron Tomlin | Directed by Matthew Ninaber

The enormous rise of superhero movies has meant that even filmmakers with small budget are trying to create something within the genre. Some have worked, some have not but with the restriction of the budget, writers have had to come up with clever ideas.

At first Transference: Dark Mutants has that definite feel of a sci-fi that is leaning towards horror but it slowly evolves into a more X-Men-influenced sci-fi movie. Lead character Emma possesses supernatural abilities and is almost being kept prisoner by her twin brother Joshua. He believes he is keeping her safe from the outside world, the people that will do horrible things to her if they discover what she can do.

Jeremy Ninaber and Melissa Joy Boerger in Transference (2020)
Trailer for Superpowers Horror Film 'Transference: Escape the Dark'
Jeremy Ninaber and Melissa Joy Boerger in Transference (2020)
"We all have our differences, but some of us, they can do things that aren't naturally possible..." Epic Pics has unveiled an official trailer for an indie horror thriller titled Transference: Escape the Dark, or just Transference for short. Hunted by an unstoppable secret agent, a brother must hide his twin sister and her supernatural abilities in a mental institution so that she does not fall prey to becoming an experiment in a classified government program. This genre mashup seems to be leaning more towards The New Mutants, in terms of superpower horror, than Brightburn. Though it just seems like an odd mix of ideas and cliches, not all of them meshing together that well. Transference stars Jeremy Ninaber, Melissa Joy Boerger, Tony Nash, and Jehan Hashim. This looks instantly forgettable, but it still might intrigue a few viewers. Here's the full trailer (+ poster) for Matthew Ninaber's Transference: Escape the Dark,...
