Former characters from The Walking Dead return in ads produced by Ryan Reynolds. As it approached its conclusion, many fans of the seminal zombie series were assured that The Walking Dead would reach into its past and acknowledge its history by finding a way to bring back notable actors that left the show. It's become a tradition in most finales, especially long-running dramas, to give a tip of the hat to the past while also looking ahead to the future. In the end, the AMC stalwart did just that — in ways that were expected, and one way that wasn't.
Maximum Effort, the production company founded by Reynolds, partnered with AMC Network's Content Room to create custom ads for The Walking Dead series finale. The ads brought back four fan-favorite characters: Milton Mamet (played by Dallas Roberts), Andrea Harrison (Laurie Holden), Rodney (Joe Ando-Hirsh), and Gareth (Andrew West). They each promote...

Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort partnered with AMC Network’s Content Room to produce custom ads for The Walking Dead series finale that resurrected four fan-favorite characters.
Fans of the long-running series were surprised Sunday when their screens were filled with shots of Milton Mamet (Dallas Roberts), Andrea Harrison (Laurie Holden), Rodney (Joe Ando-Hirsh) and Gareth (Andrew West), years after they died in the series.
The characters starred in ads for Deloitte, DoorDash, Autodesk and Ring, with Reynolds himself making an appearance in one of them for Mntn, his advertising software company.
“Ads should be fun,” Reynolds said in a statement. “The Walking Dead has generated more cultural conversation over the last decade than any other property and we wanted to honor that by bringing a few characters back from the dead in some fun contextual ads. We were blown away by the total...

Ambers Stevens West has starred in a handful of iconic shows over the years, including Greek and The Carmichael Show, but for the actress, her recent role on Starz's Run the World is definitely her most meaningful. The series, which premiered on May 16, follows four Black women living in Harlem as they navigate life, friendships, and relationships. While roles like Ashleigh on Greek helped start Stevens West's career (and introduced her to her now-husband Andrew West), the actress told Popsugar that Run the World is super special because it has the most value to her in her personal life and as an actress. "I stretched myself in a direction that I haven't before," she said about the role.
After previously starring on network TV, Stevens West was excited (and a little nervous) about the opportunity to appear on a Starz series. "The show approached me and they were saying,...

Rafer Johnson, a Los Angeles legend who won the 1960 Olympic decathlon gold medal, helped organize the 1984 Games in L.A. and wrestled the gun from Sen. Robert F. Kennedy’s assassin at the Ambassador Hotel in 1968, died today at his home in Sherman Oaks. He was 86. His family confirmed the news but did not provide a cause of death.
Born on August 18, 1934, in Hillsboro, Texas, Johnson moved with his family to the San Joaquin Valley town of Kingsburg when he was 9 and became a four-sport high school star while working as a cotton picker with his father and siblings. The town’s middle school now is named in his honor.
Johnson already was a local hero at UCLA, where he would become student body president but faced racial discrimination, when he began to draw national attention as a decathlete. He broke the world record in 1955 and was the favorite at...
