Christo Tomy is a two-time National Award winning director and an alumnus of the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata. He is the director of the Netflix True Crime show, Curry and Cyanide: The Jolly Joseph Case, which was a Global Top #2 and was in the Global Top Ten for three consecutive weeks. The show garnered more than 10M views worldwide within 3 weeks of its release and was in the Top Ten of 30 plus countries.
Christo's feature film Ullozhukku (Undercurrent) produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Honey Trehan and Abhishek Chaubey under their banner the RSVP and the MacGuffin Pictures will be released soon. The film stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, the veteran Malayalam actor Urvashi and Arjun Radhakrishnan.
Ullozhukku was part of the Film Independent's Global Media Makers LA Residency, the NFDC Co-Production Market - Film Bazaar and the NFDC Screenwriters Lab. The project won the Cinestaan India's Storytellers Script Contest, India's biggest feature film script contest adjudged by Aamir Khan, Rajkumar Hirani, Anjum Rajabali and Juhi Chaturvedi.
Earlier, Christo's short films Kamuki (Sweetheart) and Kanyaka (Virgin) won the National Film Awards for Best Direction (Swarna Kamal - Golden Lotus) and Best Debut Film (Rajat Kamal - Silver Lotus) respectively in the non-feature section. He served as a member of the jury for the non-feature films at the 65th National Film Awards. Kanyaka was also screened at the 44th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa. His short films, music videos and documentaries have won numerous awards and have been screened in many international film festivals.
