The Gentlemen's Theo James to Take Over for Oscar Winner in New Gangster Thriller
Image
An Emmy-nominated star of The White Lotusis joining the cast of the new gangster-thriller The Bookie & the Bruiser. Per Variety, Theo James, who was nominated for a 2023 Emmy for his performance as Cameron Sullivan in The White Lotus, is taking over from The Brutalist’s Adrien Brody, who was originally set to star in The Bookie & the Bruiser. The outlet did not state the reason Brody dropped out of the project.

James will co-star with Vince Vaughn in the new film from writer-director S. Craig Zahler (Bone Tomahawk). The Bookie & the Bruiser takes place in New York City in 1959 and follows a Jewish man named Rivner (James) and an Italian-American tough guy named Boscolo (Vaughn). The pair served in World War II, and both returned as changed men who were no longer willing to take orders or observe the rules of polite society.

Jason Isaacs Answers The White Lotus Season 3 Finale's Biggest Ratliff Family Question
Image
The following article contains spoilers for the season 3 finale of HBO's "The White Lotus"

Many fans of HBO's semi-anthology series "The White Lotus" are still reeling from the season 3 finale, "Amor Fati." The finale served as a definitive conclusion for some characters and a more uneasy, open-ended send-off for others. Much of the discourse for this season revolves around the Ratcliff family, perhaps the most problematic and complicated family dynamic the series has showcased to viewers so far. Sure, the Mossbacher family from season 1 had their interpersonal issues, and the three generations of Di Grasso men were each dealing with their problems related to their sex lives in season 2, but the Ratcliffs take the cake when it comes to being fundamentally dysfunctional.

Most notably, we witnessed the cringe-inducing dynamic that the Ratcliff siblings share. Brothers Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) and Lochlan (Sam Nivola) are at the center of the most uncomfortable scene in the entire series,...

5 Characters Who Could Return In The White Lotus Season 4
Image
After season 3 of "The White Lotus" wrapped up its run in April 2025, fans started thinking about the forthcoming fourth season ... and shortly before the Thailand-set finale of that third season aired, the cast and crew participated in an oral history about the series (in The Hollywood Reporter) that brought up an interesting point. Could some characters from the anthology's first two seasons, which were set in Hawai'i and Italy, come back for the fourth outing? Maybe!

Season 3 star Patrick Schwarzenegger, who plays privileged twentysomething Saxon Ratliff, brought up some fan chatter to showrunner and creator Mike White, saying, "I've heard rumors of them doing an all-star season." White's response? "I'd love to do that." If I might be permitted to bring up White's time on "Survivor" — as I am wont to do — this is actually perfectly in line with the reality competition show hosted by Jeff Probst, which frequently features casts with returning players,...

How Season 3 of ‘The White Lotus’ could set a new record for Emmy acting nominations
Image
If you thought the first two seasons of The White Lotus received lots of acting nominations at the Emmys, just wait.

Season 3, which comes to an end this Sunday on HBO, could end up beating the previous number of acting bids for both Season 1 (eight) and Season 2 (nine). Jennifer Coolidge won back-to-back Emmys for playing quirky resort guest Tanya McQuoid, while Murray Bartlett claimed gold for the first season as the Maui hotel manager.

The third installment, which focuses on wellness and spirituality in Thailand, boasts a whopping 17 series regulars as of the penultimate episode, which aired March 30. The actors can essentially be divided into four cliques: the Ratliff family; the female best friends; hotel employees/acquaintances; and those involved in a revenge storyline.

That doesn't even count the recurring actors billed as guest stars, such as Nicholas Duvernay as Zion, Arnas Fedaravicius as Valentin, Christian Friedel as Fabian, Dom Hetrakul as Pornchai,...

Mike White's Original The White Lotus Season 2 Plans Were Completely Different
Image
This post contains spoilers for "The White Lotus."

HBO's Emmy Award-winning series "The White Lotus" is back in the pop culture zeitgeist. The acclaimed, so-called anthology series written and directed by Mike White serves as one of the most entertaining and insightful social satires in modern media, tackling power dynamics and class inequality amidst the backdrops of the luxurious vacation destinations the wealthy seek to enjoy in contrast to the working class employees' experiences at the titular hotel chain.

Originally greenlit by HBO as a six-episode miniseries, the success of the Hawaii-set first season led to "The White Lotus" being repurposed into an ongoing anthology series, with season 2 being set in Sicily, Italy. For series creator Mike White, the bigger, bolder, and stranger season 2 was not just a change of luxurious scenery but also an opportunity to explore the sexual power dynamics of its new ensemble, with Tanya McQuoid-Hunt (Jennifer Coolidge...

Daphne's Potential White Lotus Return Gets Honest Response From Season 2 Star: "I Think About Her A Lot"
Image
The White Lotus star Meghann Fahy has discussed the possibility of reprising her role while at New York Comic Con. The HBO dramedy is an anthology where each season takes place in a different location of the titular fictional luxury resort, including Hawai'i, Italy, and Thailand. Generally each season features a different ensemble cast, but precedent has been set for character returns when Jennifer Coolidge reprised her season 1 role as Tanya McQuoid in season 2. The upcoming The White Lotus season 3 is also set to feature the return of Natasha Rothwell as season 1 staff member Belinda Lindsey.

During New York Comic Con, Screen Rant had the opportunity to sit down with Meghann Fahy, who played Cameron Sullivan's (Theo James) duplicitous wife Daphne in season 2 of The White Lotus. While she said she would "never say never," she reflected that she feels "really good" about the character's journey and where her...

Aubrey Plaza Still Hasn't Watched White Lotus Season 2 Despite Starring In It
Image
Aubrey Plaza still hasn't seen The White Lotus season 2 despite her starring role in it. The critically acclaimed HBO anthology series debuted its second season in October 2022 to critical acclaim and skyrocketing viewership. For its sophomore season, The White Lotus traveled from Hawaii to Italy for a luxurious European vacation. The White Lotus's expansive cast saw Plaza star as Harper, the wife of Ethan Spiller (Will Sharpe). The pair were vacationing with friends Daphne (Meghann Fahey) and Cameron Sullivan (Theo James), with the two couples having a strained relationship that results in extramarital activities, drugged out ragers, and shifting dynamics. Plaza earned acclaim for her performance as the icy Harper, whose flirtations with Cameron begin to wear on Ethan.

It sounds like Plaza may have missed all the shenanigans, though. The actress told the Wall Street Journal that she hasn't seen the episodes yet, but promised that she was going to at some point.

Guy Ritchie's New Netflix Show Is Even More Exciting After The White Lotus Season 2
Image
Theo James, known for his role in The White Lotus season 2, stars as Eddie in Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen, increasing anticipation for the Netflix series. Eddie, the main character in The Gentlemen, inherits his father's estate and gets tangled in the criminal underworld, finding himself enjoying the thrill of crime. The rest of the cast of The Gentlemen includes Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, Ray Winstone, Vinnie Jones, Chanel Cresswell, Max Beesley, and more.

The cast of The White Lotus season 2 contained numerous talented performers (many of whom received Emmy nominations), and one impressive actor from the group will appear in Guy Ritchie's upcoming Netflix show. The HBO anthology series received widespread critical acclaim for its first season, and its second outing lived up to (and perhaps exceeded) the hype. Meghann Fahy Teases a 'White Lotus' Comeback In An Episode With 3 More Returning Stars (& It's Not Who You'd Think!)
Image
Meghann Fahy‘s character is not set to return for a third season of The White Lotus. However, that doesn’t mean that we’ve seen the last of her.

If you forgot, the actress brought Daphne Sullivan to life in the show’s second season. Her storyline was woven in with Theo James (her onscreen husband Cameron Sullivan), Will Sharpe (Cameron’s old friend Ethan Spiller) and Aubrey Plaza.

During a recent interview, she revealed that The White Lotus creator Mike White has clued her in to a possible comeback of Daphne in a future episode.

The proposed plot would feature three other returning characters, and Meghann described it as “kind of psychotic.”

Who would be involved and what would go do? She gave us all of those details and revealed what she thinks happened to Daphne and Cameron after the cameras stopped rolling on their marriage.

‘White Lotus’ Star Meghann Fahy Teases Daphne’s Return In Future Episode
Image
So what actually happened to Meghann Fahy’s Daphne Sullivan after a Sicilian summer trip that yielded a dead body in the water?

“She keeps doing what’s she’s doing,” Fahy told Deadline at the Sundance studio about her posh, sexually free, no-rules-abiding wife of Cameron Sullivan (Theo James); a couple who get into the heads of the Spillers, played by Will Sharpe and Aubrey Plaza in season 2 of the HBO multi-Emmy winning show. Fahy is here in Park City, Ut with the Melissa Barrera midnight section movie, Your Monster.

But more to the point, Fahy tells us don’t expect Daphne to get on a plane to Thailand where season 3 is set at another White Lotus property. That cast for the Mike White anthology series includes Walton Goggins, Aimee Lou Wood, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sarah Catherine Hook, Sam Nivola, Leslie Bibb, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Carrie Coon, Parker Posey,...

‘White Lotus’ Casting Director Meredith Tucker On Landing Will Sharpe For The Role Of Ethan At The Last Minute – Deadline FYC House + HBO Max
Image
Editor’s note: The following interviews were done outside of the FYC event series, as there was no panel or screening.

When it comes to assembling the quintessential ensemble cast for a series, it’s an art, not a science; an organic melding of faces and emotional forces. No more was this important than in the high stakes second season of HBO’s drama series White Lotus in which we’re pulled into the posh, sexy allure of those upper-class denizens on vacation only to relish in their deceitful sides and hijinks, warts and all. The series not only propelled fresh faces to the forefront such as Natasha Rothwell in season one, whose Hawaiian White Lotus resort spa manager is returning for the Eastern religion and spirituality set season 3, but it’s also shown a fresh, dynamic range of actors we’ve seen previously, i.e. Jennifer Coolidge and Alexandra Daddario among several others.

Which White Lotus Season 2 Character Are You Based On Your Zodiac Sign?
Image
The ensemble cast of The White Lotus season 2 is full of complex, colorful characters who each adhere to the personality traits of a different Zodiac star sign. Shifting its setting from the Hawaiian location of the titular luxurious resort to the Sicilian location, season 2 of The White Lotus’ focused on a different set of wealthy, privileged guests contending with first-world problems. While this season brought back fan-favorite character Tanya McQuoid from season 1 – as well as her love interest, Greg Hunt, now her husband – everyone else in the ensemble is a brand-new creation.

Season 2 of The White Lotus was met with universal praise from critics; it was even included on the American Film Institute’s prestigious list of the best TV shows of 2022. After The White Lotus’ controversial first season focused on the theme of money, season 2 turned its thematic focus to sex, power, and relationships. The richly drawn, three-dimensional characters...

The White Lotus Characters Who Could Return In Season 3
Image
Warning: Contains major Spoilers for The White Lotus season 2.

Even though The White Lotus is technically an anthology series, some characters from season 1 reappeared in season 2, meaning that some past characters will most likely return in The White Lotus season 3. Season 2 saw the return of Tanya McQuoid, a wealthy klutz, and her husband Greg, an employee of the Bureau of Land Management, as they once again vacation at a White Lotus resort, this time in Sicily. With there being a precedent for characters returning, there's a long list of potential cast members coming back in The White Lotus season 3 - and they all have good reason to.

The White Lotus season 2 once again followed a group of wealthy Americans as they vacationed at a resort in Sicily, with a dead body turning up at the White Lotus later. As it turns out, the murderer was none other than Tanya McQuoid herself,...

The White Lotus: 10 Best New Characters In Season 2
Image
Season 2 of The White Lotus, known as The White Lotus: Sicily, introduces another group of wealthy vacationers, hotel staff, and locals whose lives intertwine to great comedic and dramatic effect. The characters are largely just as entitled and loathsome as they were in season 1, but the stakes feel higher from the beginning, due to the mystery of multiple murder victims.

Across the season so far, most characters have been limited to variations on familiar character tropes, including the cheating husband, the dirty old man, the clueless millennial, and more. But some of these characters are definitely better rendered than others, whether they break out of their stereotypical portrayal or not.

Cameron Sullivan

From the beginning of the season, The White Lotus: Sicily doesn't shy away from painting Cameron Sullivan (Theo James) in a villainous light. An entitled finance bro, Cameron doesn't care about the many ways he makes people...

In The White Lotus, Everyone Is Part Of The Problem
Image
The biting satire of "The White Lotus" leaves no character unscathed. Mike White's Emmy-winning hit is the latest in a long line of shows about rich people that we love to hate, and much like "Succession" or "The Crown," this show has a way of making the uber-wealthy appear deeply sad. But even though it paints some very complex and occasionally sympathetic portraits of its characters, "The White Lotus" never shies away from making fun of everyone that dares to grace our screen. The fact that Jennifer Coolidge is a legend and we support her every move does not preclude us from snickering as Tanya McQuoid spirals into a fortune-teller-fueled depression. And no matter how much he pouts, it will always be funny to recall the voice of Dominic Di Grasso's (Michael Imperioli) wife screaming at him from a phone receiver.

But usually, in a show like this, there...

This article contains spoilers for The White Lotus season 2 episode 3.

Films and television shows create characters who represent ideal illusions of sex symbols, people we crave to be with but have no chance to meet so we can actualize our dreams. The ironic thing about TV crushes is that there are over 7 billion humans on this planet, yet we think the people behind the screen have something that others don’t. The beautiful smiles, chiseled bodies, and flipped-back hairstyles of these performers are accentuated by the characteristics of the people they’re portraying. Exterior charms are often subconsciously and superfluously enhanced by other identifiers such as wealth, place of birth, or racial power within society.

The White Lotus has daringly taken on the bulk of the discourse around why we idolize and sexualize the actors and characters we enjoy watching on a daily basis. The story, symbolism, humor, and acting...

‘The White Lotus: Sicily’ cast category submissions for awards shows: Yep, they’re all supporting [Exclusive]
Image
Gold Derby has learned exclusively that, just like last year, “The White Lotus: Sicily” will submit all of its actors and actresses into the supporting races for awards shows. (See the cast category submissions below.) HBO initially enacted this strategy for the first season of its ratings hit, believing “The White Lotus” to be a true ensemble where there are no official “lead” performances that should get preference. That resulted in Jennifer Coolidge and Murray Bartlett both winning Emmys for Season 1 as Best Limited Series Supporting Actress and Best Limited Series Supporting Actor.

One caveat when making or updating your predictions at Gold Derby: “The White Lotus: Sicily” is considered a limited series at the upcoming Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards, but it will compete as a drama series at the SAG Awards. Why? The Screen Actors Guild has strict rules about anthology series with returning characters, and since...

Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen Is Becoming A Netflix TV Series, Theo James To Star
Image
Netflix is officially entering the Guy Ritchie business.

Over two years after the "Snatch," "Sherlock Holmes," and "Aladdin" filmmaker first released his long-overdue foray back to caper flicks with "The Gentlemen", the divisive director is taking the gangster dramedy and turning it into a streaming series for the biggest platform of them all. The news comes courtesy of Variety, which confirms previous reports that Netflix had been "in talks" to pick up the series. Today, it's been revealed that the streaming giant has now given this spin-off the green light and ordered it to series.

While fans of the irreverent crime film have waited with bated breath to see if any of the film's original stars would return -- a star-studded cast that includes Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Jeremy Strong, Michelle Dockery, Colin Farrell, Henry Golding, and Eddie Marsan -- we now know that the new lead for this series...

Theo James Set To Lead Guy Ritchie’s Netflix TV Series ‘The Gentlemen’
Image
Theo James is set as the lead of Netflix’s The Gentlemen, based on the Guy Ritchie film of the same name, Deadline has learned. Production on the Miramax TV series begins in London next week.

The series follows James’ character Eddie Halstead, who has inherited his father’s sizeable estate only to discover that it’s sitting on top of a weed empire owned by the legendary Mickey Pearson. Has this straight-up soldier got what it takes to master the dark arts of the British criminal underworld and take control of the entire operation?

Deadline exclusively revealed in March the streamer was eyeing the adaption. Ritchie co-wrote the pilot script with Matthew Read, will direct the first two episodes and serve as an executive producer on the series, which Miramax TV is producing alongside Moonage Pictures in the UK.

The White Lotus: Top 10 Main Characters In Season 2 Who Are The Most Likely To Die
Image
The White Lotus season two has premiered and fans are speculating who could be dead at the end of the series' one-week adventure in Sicily. The second season used the same formula the prior did by teasing a death in the first few moments of the show, then traveling back a week to see how the events played out. This time, however, it appears there was not just one body found, but multiple.

The White Lotus burst onto the scene as one of the best miniseries in recent memory last year, and this season's mystery is shaping up to continue its good fortune. Cameron Sullivan is played by Theo James. Cameron is a very rich and successful businessman,...

The White Lotus Season 2 Is Really About How Jennifer Coolidge And Aubrey Plaza Just Need To Kill The Men Already
Image
Mike White's HBO limited series "The White Lotus" was one of the best new shows of 2021, a sharply satirical look at the most privileged elite and the employees that serve them during a week's stay at an all-inclusive luxury resort. What is meant to be a week in paradise quickly reveals itself to be a powder keg of humanity's worst impulses, presented in a manner that is as darkly comedic as it is suspenseful. The end of season 1 featured a shocking, harrowing finale, capping off a debut season that would eventually lead to a whopping 10 Emmy Awards.

Following up on such an impressive launch seemed impossible, but as /Film's Barry Levitt described in his review, "The White Lotus" season 2 is "bigger, bolder, and stranger." The first season was an examination of class and race set in the fictional resort chain's Hawaiian locale, but season 2 looks to explore infidelity, sexual politics,...

‘The White Lotus: Sicily’ cast photos for Season 2
Image
“The White Lotus” first opened its doors in July 2021 and went on to become an awards juggernaut, winning 10 Emmys including Best Limited Series, Best Supporting Actress (Jennifer Coolidge), Best Supporting Actor (Murray Bartlett), and Best Writing and Best Directing (Mike White). Months after its debut, HBO announced there would be a second season but, since it’s an anthology series, the plot and characters would all be fresh. Mostly. Coolidge and Jon Gries are both back for “The White Lotus: Sicily” as wealthy resort guest Tanya McQuoid and her new beau Greg, respectively. The general concept of the new episodes will also be the same, as it focuses on several different groups of people attending the high-end luxury chain. Only this time, as you can infer from the title, it takes place in Italy instead of Hawaii. Scroll through our gallery above (or click here for direct access) to see...
