An Emmy-nominated star of The White Lotusis joining the cast of the new gangster-thriller The Bookie & the Bruiser. Per Variety, Theo James, who was nominated for a 2023 Emmy for his performance as Cameron Sullivan in The White Lotus, is taking over from The Brutalist’s Adrien Brody, who was originally set to star in The Bookie & the Bruiser. The outlet did not state the reason Brody dropped out of the project.

James will co-star with Vince Vaughn in the new film from writer-director S. Craig Zahler (Bone Tomahawk). The Bookie & the Bruiser takes place in New York City in 1959 and follows a Jewish man named Rivner (James) and an Italian-American tough guy named Boscolo (Vaughn). The pair served in World War II, and both returned as changed men who were no longer willing to take orders or observe the rules of polite society.

If you forgot, the actress brought Daphne Sullivan to life in the show’s second season. Her storyline was woven in with Theo James (her onscreen husband Cameron Sullivan), Will Sharpe (Cameron’s old friend Ethan Spiller) and Aubrey Plaza.

During a recent interview, she revealed that The White Lotus creator Mike White has clued her in to a possible comeback of Daphne in a future episode.

The proposed plot would feature three other returning characters, and Meghann described it as “kind of psychotic.”

The White Lotus is almost certainly checking into an Asian hotel for its third season — and it’s been revealed Netflix’s Dahmer star Evan Peters nearly starred in the second run.

Rumors the Mike White-created comedy-drama would be set in Asia have abounded for several weeks and the HBO series’ executive producer David Bernad all but confirmed the news here at the Berlinale Series Market in Germany this morning.

“We’ve tried to work in Asia a lot and hopefully season three will be our chance to make something happen there,” he said during a keynote chat.

Notably, Emmy winner Bernad said himself and White almost filmed in Asia on another project for Amazon Prime Video back in 2016. He said the pair still harbour ambitions to work in the continent on future projects.

The fact that Jennifer Coolidge is a legend and we support her every move does not preclude us from snickering as Tanya McQuoid spirals into a fortune-teller-fueled depression. Over two years after the "Snatch," "Sherlock Holmes," and "Aladdin" filmmaker first released his long-overdue foray back to caper flicks with "The Gentlemen", the divisive director is taking the gangster dramedy and turning it into a streaming series for the biggest platform of them all. The news comes courtesy of Variety, which confirms previous reports that Netflix had been "in talks" to pick up the series. “The White Lotus” first opened its doors in July 2021 and went on to become an awards juggernaut, winning 10 Emmys including Best Limited Series, Best Supporting Actress (Jennifer Coolidge), Best Supporting Actor (Murray Bartlett), and Best Writing and Best Directing (Mike White). Months after its debut, HBO announced there would be a second season but, since it’s an anthology series, the plot and characters would all be fresh. Mostly. Coolidge and Jon Gries are both back for “The White Lotus: Sicily” as wealthy resort guest Tanya McQuoid and her new beau Greg, respectively. The general concept of the new episodes will also be the same, as it focuses on several different groups of people attending the high-end luxury chain.
